WORKSHOP is taking ash vacuums to a new levels. The ash vac has a powder-coated metal drum for durability, and includes metal wands that store neatly in the vacuum’s caddy. The ash vacuum cleaner also comes with a specially designed hose with LED light is ideal for dark fireplaces, BBQ pits, or fire pit ash cleanup. The ash vacuum and HEPA media filter will pick up and collect ash and fine debris under 122˚ F.
The powerful performance in this compact ash vacuum cleaner makes quick work of cleaning ashes and fine dust under 122F
LED light on the ash vac’s hose end for better visibility into stoves, pits and fireplaces
For dry use only. While ash vacs are powerful tools, they are not designed for wet pick up like most shop vacuum cleaners.
HEPA media filter in this ash vacuum cleaner helps capture ashes, dust, and fine particles and is coated with a non-stick material to help reduce filter clogging.
Large carry handle on the ash vacuum cleaner for easy transport to pellet stoves, fireplaces, or chimineas

Don’t use it while the stove is hot!
We have a pellet stove and it works great. We also got one for our kids that have a fireplace. Kids sucked up hot ashes and melted the filter and blew ash all over. Make sure the ashes have a chance to cool down before using.

Needs Longer Hose
This is a well made vacuum unit that has it’s performance hampered by a hose that is very, very short. At 3 feet in length the hose and 1 foot nozzle are just barely able to reach the rear of my fireplace, and when used on the barbecue grill on the patio the hose does not reach up over the rim of the grill and down to the ashes that have not fallen into the ash collector of the grill.
The vacuum only comes with a “crevice tool like” attachment and the short hose makes this pretty much a single purpose tool. The hose seems to have a locking feature that prevents the use of a longer replacement hose. As others have pointed out the “Wet Dry Vac” is only for DRY pick-up and at the $100.00 plus price tag this could / should be a full feature shopvac with a longer hose, crevice tool, floor pick-up tool and brush attachment.
On the plus side, I have vacuumed ashes with my old wet & dry plastic shopvac after the ashes cooled for several days and the dust cloud that came out of the exhaust tube does not occur with this vacuum – – – but the filter that prevents the dust cloud does load up fairly fast and needs cleaning quite often. I received this as a Vine Program offer but if I had paid over $100.00 for it, I would feel I had not gotten my money’s worth.
Bottom Line – – – This is marketed as an Ash Vacuum and that is what you get, but all that you get.

Is it crazy to love a shop vac?
With two cats, two hairy dogs, a big basement, attic, dusty yard, fire place and junk-filled garage, my need for a good shop vac is obvious. Years ago, I bought an all plastic Sears model and within a few years, there were lots of broken plastic bits. Plus, it was designed to be top heavy (the motor was placed high up) so it tipped over a lot. It lives in the attic. Next, we had a leak in the basement so I ran out to Home Depot to get a bigger wet-dry vac. It too is made of 100% plastic and has a high-up motor. Tippy and really loud marks its pedigree so it lives in the basement. This small size vacuum seemed perfect for in home use so I ordered it for use by the fireplace and for the garage.
First the positives, the size is just right. Small, light weight and reasonably quiet. The hose and cord store around the bright orange handle (smart). The unit is very stable too – has not tipped over once is normal use. Finally, the unit is metal. The base, top and nozzles are break-proof metal. The handle, motor top and hose are the only easily damageable plastic parts so it looks like it will withstand my normal rough vacuum treatment.
Negatives? Just a couple. The thing that makes it appealing to me – small size – works against it if you have a lot of liquids to suck up, the tank will fill up quickly. Also, the unit only comes with a single metal nozzle and an extension. I would have liked to have a brush come in the too since I use shop vacs to clean my car and truck. Since we have lots of dog and cat hair to deal with, a brush would make that easier.
Overall – this is a solid, well made tool that, personally, I love using. Need a compact shop vac that you can store under your work bench or in a corner of the garage, this could be it.

WORST VAC
Used it 3 times since arrival. Constant need to clean the filter, 12 trips to dump out ashes that arenât even full . Stopped suction til you clean the hose (bang the hose outside to get the ash dust out ) (not really dirty) .DO NOT buy this brand . WORST ASH SHOP VAC EVER ! Less than one star âï¸

Several important things to consider
SOME OBSERVATIONS TO THINK ABOUT:
1. At the selling price at time the review was written of just over one hundred dollars, it is overpriced. There is a PowerSmith ash vac that is virtually identical selling for about $30 less that comes with more accessories and has over 1200 reviews. This product is not worth the asking price which is the main reason it only earns 4-stars.
2. The hose is only 3â ⦠that is a problem for a product designed to clean ashes. If I place it on the floor in front of my fireplace the hose has to reach over the hearth and all the way to the rear of the firepit. That distance is between 4-5â. And to clean the ash from my kettle barbecue the distance from the ground to the bottom of the kettle bowl is over 5â. I would have to lift the entire vacuum and hold it in the air to reach inside my barbecue.
3. It only comes with ONE tool (a crevice tool with a very large open end). There is no reason this should not be a multi-purpose vacuum but the seller has targeted as something designed for ashes only. Thatâs a lot of money to spend for a dedicated ash vac that offers no other special features over a standard shop vac
4. The âLED hoseâ is fluff. If you expected it to be powered from the vacuum you would be wrong, it gets its power from tiny hearing-aid batteries inside the wand. The light is located where the hose connects to the wand extensions and any light that gets thrown onto the work is insignificant and useless; the LED feature is nothing more than a gimmick.
THE PLUS SIDE
This vac is not without its virtues though. For one, the tank is all metal and the ashes are deposited directly into the tank, not a bag or any kind of removable container. That does require that the entire vac be lifted and dumped into the trash (which may be a bit of a challenge for some people because it can get quite heavy once full of ashes) but I would say it is relatively easy to clean. After dumping the ashes the container can be brushed out with a soft duster-type wand. I also like that the nozzle and its extension are made of aluminum so if they do come in contact with ashes that are still warm they wonât melt.
The hose has a non-crush spiral spring inside, another plus feature. And the hose twist-locks into the canister so it wonât pull out during use. These are all reasons this product was rated generally positively (Amazon defines âI like itâ as a 4-star product)
The replaceable filter appears to be a different size than other models used by the same company and does not appear to be readily available. Based on the price of other filters sold by this company though you could buy a whole new vacuum at the hardware store for about the same price. Compare that to the PowerSmith which uses a washable filter, keeping the overall cost of ownership down.
All things considered the biggest concern about this product (other than being overpriced) is the too-short hose which canât be extended. That plus the metal canister can get quite heavy and must be lifted and turned upside down to empty it. There are no handles to grab it or hold it so you end up having to wrap your arms around the whole canister or grab the plastic wheels which can pull out of their sockets.
Armed with these points to consider I hope this evaluation has been helpful. A dedicated ash vac as a nice (but not mandatory) accessory to own but I would put its real-life value closer to about $50-60 rather than over $100.
