Reduces noise for sure
This diffuser attachment is a game-changer, seriously reducing vacuum noise to the point where itâs almost bearable. Itâs not the sleekest design, thoughâit adds bulk, and fitting it onto my vacuum was more of a struggle than expected. But hey, once itâs on, at least Iâm not going deaf while cleaning.

Not sure about the ultimate value
Hi,This muffler knocks some of the high-pitched sound down, which may be helpful or not depending on what vacuum you own and how powerful it is, etc. This little vacuum in the video has a brand new, supposedly HEPA type filter. If anything gets past the filter system in this vacuum, this exterior muffler, with the poly wrap âspongeâ, is not going to stop any fine dust because itâs a very course, open pore wrap which is a part of the defusing process rather than a filter. This muffler does distribute the exhaust air over a wide area rather than the straight blast which is typical without the muffler. Its functionality is subjective, depending on what youâre looking for and what kind of vacuum you have and how loud it is normally. I wonder, with a very high-powered shop vac, that this muffler could be restricting the flow of air a bit more than in my little vac and you may be losing some overall performance in the powerful vac. My vacuum seems to speed up just a bit (to my ears) when I put the muffler on, so I feel like possibly itâs adding a little more restriction to the airflow.I will continue to use this muffler. It is a friction fit only with my vacuum. I donât need the adapter which is included. It fits nice and snug, and I believe it will stay in place. This will probably fit most shop vacs with the wide hose attachment (2 3/8 +-)What I have done in the past is attached another hose to the exit port on the vacuum and put that out a door or window, if possible, when Iâm doing some very dusty or wet cleanup work that possibly could get past filter and blow around the room. Doing this takes the exhaust outdoors keeps the turbulence in the workplace at a minimum and quiets the vacuum down. This muffler does create a radiating blast of air that can kick up dust on the floor. For everyday use, this muffler may make your vacuuming more pleasant. Regardless, I will continue to use this muffler and test its performance in different situations. It does reduce the sound level.

Same Noise Level
I didn’t notice any significant difference on the noise level with this installed on my shop vac. It does help with diffusing the air output, though. If I had paid for this, I probably would have returned it. It doesn’t seem worth it.

Do it yourself unit.
The measurements given were Metric, which I don’t recall seeing in the ad review so I have the option to make this fit but time is money so I must weigh my options.

Muffles the sound and redirects the air blast into a softer annular flow. Nice improvement. A+
This is brilliant, in my opinion. It makes it quieter, which is nice, and heavily reduces the shrillness of the sound. Even nicer. My experience with the shop vac exhaust blast is that it usually does not matter, until it is directed at something unfortunate and makes a mess. This redirects it into a circular pattern at right angles to the original direction. There is virtually nothing happening directly behind the vac. This seems like something all vacs should come with. For now, this is inexpensive and a big upgrade.Someone mentioned this for catching dust escaping the vac. Ahh, if that is a problem, something else is wrong, and this is in no way intended to address that.Highly recommended.

Diffuser – good, muffler – not so much
I easily attached this to my 4.25HP Craftsman shop vac and it did a good job of preventing the high velocity exhaust that blows dust around everywhere. Instead it diffuses the exhaust as a much gentler air stream around this attachment. The little clip really has no purpose for me since there is nothing on my shop vac to grab onto. It just pushes tightly into the exhaust and seems to stay in place despite a relatively high pressure out the exhaust. I expected that the foam filter might hinder the airflow/suction but that doesn’t seem to be the case. As for use as a muffler, I have to admit I perceived no real difference in the noise coming from the machine. It is still deafening.

Noticable decrease in noise
This is a very simple product. it attaches to the exhaust port of your Ridgid wet/dry vacuum and it muffles the sound. It is made of plastic and takes about 1.5 seconds to install. It comes with an extra muffling foam presumably to replace the original when it dissolves in 65 years. This is a low-cost solution to an annoying problem. Spend a few bucks and protect your hearing and sanity.

Good airflow distribution, same noise level
I was excited to receive this product and try it out. Based on the title/description and my experience, I think it does well at diffusing the airflow, but does nothing for me in muffling the noise. I have a Shop-Vac brand 6 gallon shop vac and this fits on the exhaust port fine, which is great! From my make-shift, non-scientific testing, here were my findings:- Ambient noise – 6 dB- Old Diffuser setup (old sock covering the port) – 82 dB- New Diffuser (this item) – 85 dBSo this item actually caused the noise to increase by just a little, but not enough for me to not use it. I’m still going to use this item and recommend it, because I can’t stand the exhaust air flow pointing in one direction
