A Powerful and Convenient Shop Vacuum – Vacmaster VP205!
I recently purchased the Vacmaster VP205, a 2.5-gallon 2 Peak HP Portable Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum, and I must say it has exceeded my expectations in many ways.
Firstly, the vacuum’s compact size is perfect for my needs. It’s easy to move around and store, making it convenient for small clean-up tasks around the house or in the garage. Despite its smaller size, the vacuum packs a punch with its 2 Peak HP motor, providing sufficient power for most cleaning jobs.
The wet/dry functionality is a significant advantage of this vacuum. It allows me to handle both wet spills and dry debris with ease, saving me the hassle of switching between different tools for different messes. This versatility has made the vacuum a go-to cleaning tool for various situations.
The included accessories, such as the crevice tool and floor nozzle, are practical additions. They enhance the vacuum’s flexibility and enable me to reach tight spaces and different surfaces effectively. The onboard storage for accessories is a thoughtful feature, ensuring they are always within reach when needed.
The build quality of the Vacmaster VP205 is commendable. The materials feel sturdy and durable, giving me confidence that it will withstand regular use over time.
I am deducting one star from my rating due to the noise level of the vacuum. While it performs admirably, it can be a bit loud during operation, which may not be ideal for quiet environments.
Overall, the Vacmaster VP205 is a powerful and convenient shop vacuum that has become a valuable tool in my cleaning routine. Its compact size, wet/dry functionality, and useful accessories make it a reliable companion for a variety of cleaning tasks. Despite the noise level, its overall performance earns it a solid four-star rating.

Great Little Vacuum for the Price
I purchased this little unit specifically for what the family has since dubbed the poop-vac. It was purchased for my daughter to keep her guinea pig cage clean on a daily basis. The cage is able to be vacuumed because it has no bedding. Instead, we have a large 2 story fleece-lined, open-top cage which houses 2 medium sized cavies. For years we had owned standard cages which were lined with bedding. However, this type of setup proved to be smelly in a very short period of time because the bedding makes it difficult for daily cleanings; particularly when you are trying to maximize the life of your bedding to cut costs. As we all know, it’s hard enough to get our children to do chores, let alone clean their pet cages. However, after switching to a fleece lined cage which can be vacuumed between washings, my child actually finds it fun, quick and easy to do. This has also completely cut pet smells.
I didn’t want to spend very much on a vacuum that I knew was going to be 100% dedicated to doody-duty, so the low price point for this unit is perfect. That said, I have caught my wife using it for other dirty jobs because it is so much more convenient to quickly pull out and set up for fast clean-ups. It beats lugging our full-sized shop-vac from the utility room on the other side of the house.
Another value-added feature is the unit doubles as a blower. With a large family I have many computers. Canned air is expensive, so instead I use this vacuum’s feature which makes blowing the dust out a breeze (no pun intended). Just place your electronics outside on a patio table, remove side panels, bobby-pin any loose fans from spinning, and go to town. You’ll be surprised how much dust plumes out of your household PC’s and other electronics. Remember dust creates heat, and heat shortens the life of electronic components.
The unit is very powerful with its 1.75 HP motor. Yet its small size makes it very easy to store. The 4 foot hose and 8 foot electrical cord is plenty to get any job done. It is so light-weight that you can simply hold the unit with one hand and the hose in the other so you get closer (or higher) to the area needing vacuuming (or blowing).
It comes with two additional attachments; a crevice tool for corners, and an upholstery brush with removable bristles. All attachments store conveniently on the unit in designated docks, and the electrical cord wraps nicely on the side of the unit. The vacuum also comes with 2 filters, one for wet jobs and the other for dry use.
At this price, I could see buying more units and storing them in various areas of the home to be dedicated for specific jobs, i.e., one near the workbench, one in the RV, etc. As far as portable units go, this vacuum has earned my vote of 5 stars. It is of good quality and the design is well thought out.
