In combo w/Roku controller and IR extender, this makes cord cutting just WORK
We recently completely cut the cord, got rid of STB’s and exited cable TV for YouTube TV. Up until now, our house has been littered with Harmony remotes…some IR, several Wi-Fi based. The latter always troublesome. We’ve had Roku sticks in all of our TV’s for years, but the remotes are limited. Most can control a TV, but not a soundbar or amp. The challenge was to make this easy for my wife, who struggles with things that are very technical, including juggling remotes, changing inputs, etc.I had a new Sideclick purchased on sale 2 yrs ago, but never bothered to use until now. Well, it worked so nicely, I just bought 2 more and am likely to buy a couple more. The master bedroom was easy – just a TV plus soundbar now that the STB was gone. The Roku stick power button is programmed for the TV, the SideClick for the soundbar, with volume +/- and mute. I added black P-touch labels on the remotes to make it easy to see the button assignment. The family room was the trickiest to convert since we have a complex Yamaha multimedia amplifier. The amp is hidden inside a cabinet that has slotted doors. If you are sitting in the right place in the room, an IR remote will fire through the slots in the doors and the IR will activate the amplifier. But that doesn’t work in the majority of the room from which we might wish to view, such as from the kitchen that overlooks the family room.We picked up an excellent IR remote extender and mounted the receiver on top of the TV. With the SideClick programmed for Amp power on/off, volume, sound mode, and mute, it perfectly complements the Roku remote that’s programmed for TV power on/off.Very pleased and will purchase more. The only improvement I’d like to see is a mini 4-way rocker to navigating thru the amp or TV menus. But honestly, that needs to be done so rarely, it’s not a biggie.Note: to program the Sideclick you MUST have your original IR remote, or a universal IR remote that’s programmed with the functions you need. You have to use that to teach the SideClick the IR commands for each button using that IR remote.

    Exactly what I needed
I don’t often write reviews, but this product is just fantastic. I have a ViewSonic projector and a sound bar and Roku refuses to control either one of them, neither through CEC nor IR. This took about a minute to set up and works perfectly. Well done! I’m finally down to one remote (with sidecar).

    Amazing product
Honestly wish I would have bought this sooner! I love having one remote for the sound bar and TV. And makes it easier to find the remote.

    Great Remote for Soundbar Users.
We’ve had this for a little while now. You can think of it as an expansion unit for your roku remote control. We used it to replace a Logitech Harmony remote after cutting the cord on our cable service. I liked the harmony remote, but things sometimes got out of sequence which frustrared others in my family. The requirements we had for this was mostly to control the volume on our soundbar and change the input selection on our TV (since there isn’t a way built into the roku remote). To that extent it works very well. It clips snug onto the side of roku remote. It does however block the audio jack and only clips onto the left side of the remote. It cannot be used on the right side of the remote with the way it attaches. It comes with multiple clips for different roku remote models and it then it clips onto that. It does slide up and down a little once clipped on but for the most part stays in place. It uses an additional battery (aaa, I believe) which it came with and battery life seems to be good.Programming it was relatively easy, but it is an I.R. “learning remote” so it does require you to use a remote that is already programmed (i.e. original remote for device). You can then any number of remotes to program *any* function of the original remote to *any* of the buttons on the sideclick and to use that IR sequence.Ergonomically it’s not as comfortable to hold the roku remote with this attached as it is without, but it isn’t horrible. The buttons are basically all reachable holding it in one hand. One of the nice things is that since this is attached to the roku remote I dont have to worry about losing a second remote (compliments of the remote finder button on the roku). I still miss the Harmony remote for a few tasks and I wish this had a few more buttons on it at times. Overall it’s a well made product that fills a niche and I wouldn’t be surprised if we wind up getting another one for our other TV.

    Genius!
For years, I’ve had a Harmony remote that controlled everything. Unfortunately, some of the buttons are no longer responding. I see a lot of couches with 2, 3 ,4 remotes, and I just cannot abide by this. What’s the point? How does one even watch a movie not knowing which remote controls volume….The Slideclick comes with several adaptors so it can attach to every Roku model that I’m aware of. There’s a simple key to figure out which is which, so you don’t have to think about it, and everything clicks into place. The Slideclick is a programmable remote, so once it’s in Program mode, you face it to the remote you want to “replace” and press the key you want to program and the key that does what you want it to learn. Really simple. The Roku Ultra remote (not the Slideclick) has volume and power for the Television, but if you’re like me, everything goes through a surround sound receiver. So power turns on the TV and volume does nothing. Then you need a second remote….Enter the Slideclick. I programmed the Power button to turn on the receiver. Volume up and down… duh. Channel up and down now switch between inputs so I can go to my Chromecast. It’s a little bulky compared to the Roku remote on its own, but it’s easy to get used to. Trimming down from two+ remotes to one is great, especially if you, like me, watch in a dimly lit room and need to either have a remote that’s backlit or simple to tell by feel.It was easy to set up and easy to use. Highly recommended.

We were living in multiple remote hell. My wife was crying in tech agony from the tortuous configurations she had to endure, when we happened upon this product. Our marriage, indeed, our peace of mind and our harmony with the universe had been restored!! Thank You!!This is not fiction.

Fast shipping, paired it to work my stereo components too (on, off, volume). So cool. I love Roku!

Great quality! Easy programming!Works reliably!Bracket for the remote would be better if it was a little stiffer and have a hole for the headphone plugin.
