Should be included by Apple
Very versatile & easy to add extra control functions to your home theater that are not available on your Apple TV (ATV) controller. Easy to program. Fits the controller perfectly. Apple should include this as an option when buying an ATV or at least carry in the Apple stores. Tip: they make several different remote clips to fit different models of ATV controllers. The main unit can be popped out and put in a different clip. If you change or upgrade your ATV you will only need a new clip.

The best remote accessory for the Apple TV, remote!
I have used the sideclick for many years on the first generation Apple 4K TV and it has worked flawlessly with no issues. I purchased this remote for the third generation Apple 4K TV and it works perfectly. I am so happy with the purchase. I really like the fact that you can put an apple AirTag on it to track the device.

Great solution!
I’ve been trying to find something like this for a long time. I have the keys programmed for my TV and AVR, which was super easy to do and works great! I’ve also added an AirTag to the built in slot to help combat my children’s supernatural ability to lose all things remote related. My only gripe is the ergonomics aren’t amazing for my hands, but that’s me really nitpicking. Highly recommend!

PASS. Too flimsy – breaks ridiculously easily.
I want to love the SideClick, and I used to when I had it for my earlier AppleTV. It worked great and was well-made, even if it fell. Unfortunately, I do not love this version of the SideClick. Itâs horrible. The control buttons donât consistently work for me now. If it drops even a small amount, which, letâs face it, remotes fall, it breaks. Dropping it causes the top housing of the buttons to come apart. However, the single biggest design flaw of this particular SideClick is the connection between the remote and the extra buttons. when you put the remote together, it slides into place and then a plastic piece in the middle locks it together. If the remote falls, this locking piece inevitably breaks (as pictured). Then the remote and new buttons are no longer secured together. In addition, if you try to use it broken and sadly forget that itâs broken, like I did with my previous one, itâll just slide apart and shatter all over the floor. This thing is so unbelievably flimsy and I canât buy it one more time. It seems to have gotten even flimsier!!!!!SideClick, you need to make a remote that is just a single piece with an insert for the remote. Or at least PLEASE something that is a stronger locking mechanism. On top of that, itâs so slick it just slides out of your hands easilyâ¦is it too much to ask for some texture or grip??? I would rather pay more money and get a remote thatâs actually not going to break after a couple days of use. Iâm absolutely done trying to use the poorly engineered SideClick.

Great idea, needs some improvement
The overall product is great, and the idea is great. However the way itâs programmed, and the loose feeling when attached to the Apple Remote are a little disappointing. Also note If you do not have a remote for the device youâre trying to replace youâre not going to be able to program this. The companyâs suggestion is to go and buy a universal remote to program theirs. Isnât that what this is supposed to be? The remote is programmed by using the IR from your current remote control. You face the two remotes together to receive the signal into the new remote. When the Apple Remote, and this is mated together. Itâs doesnât feel very solid. The Apple Remote is snuggly fit, and does not fall out. But something just feels loose about this portion of the two. Overall it does work nicely. I am satisfied. But the $40 price tag seems a bit excessive.

Must-Have AppleTV Accessory At The Very Least Due to Need to Select The TV Input
The original Apple TV remote was blissfully simple but also had so few buttons that you needed to play with it and the TV remote to watch TV. The more recent Apple TV remotes are a big improvement but they still don’t have an input selector button likely on the assumption that the TV and the devices can talk to each other over HDMI and correctly figure it all out for you. To some degree they do but not always, so I for one need a TV input selector button which the Sideclick provides. I have programmed other buttons for various functions since they are available but for me the must-have is the input selector. Also, the additional mass added to the elegant but skinny/light Apple TV remote adds a nice heft that feels good in the hand and makes it much more difficult to “lose” the remote. The last positive is that the way the Apple TV remote slides into the Sideclick makes it much more unlikely that I will accidentally press the useless Siri/Search button on the side of the Apple TV remote. Apple should let you remap that button to be the input control button!
