6 Month Review – House has never been cleaner!
-Short version: This vacuum really is the best value if you need just a vacuum without a mop, as the small size makes it clean corners and small spaces better than anything on the market! I’d look at the S10+ if you have a place that’s mostly hardwood since that one has a self cleaning roller mop though, or the K10 Pro if you’re place has more pets or is dustier given the better suction and larger bin. The mop on this thing is literally just a wet wipe, so buyers beware if the mop is a need. However, after setting up the no-go zones and schedule, I haven’t had to vacuum or replace the dustbag since I’ve bought this thing! Just keep on top of the filter, as that needs cleaned more often than what the app recommendsðð-I was pretty hesitant about this robovac after reading a review of a customer going through three of these; all with having the same problem. I couldn’t find anything else like this on the market though, so seeing as the review was from the beginning of the year, I figured it’s possible this was resolved, as the mixed early reviews were worrisome. I saw their S10+ vacuum/roller mop combo, but wanted to try the more affordable one first before dropping that kind of cash on a vaccum from a brand I don’t know, and I’m glad I did:This vacuum was a life changer, no joke.To be fair, this is the first robot vaccum I’ve had, but this robovac is emblematic of the rapid improvement these have had in the last decade since auto empty has become a thing, battery life increases, LIDAR navigation; the small form factor is also absolutely amazing given the smaller apartment I had to move to, so it gets to places other vacuums simply can’t.The app does a fantastic job of letting you set up no-go zones, schedules, and it empties itself on a timer which can be adjusted to your preference (just do every 60 minutes lol). This thing has been going strong for the half year it’s been here!Don’t know why the app has terrible reviews, as I haven’t really had too many problems with it, if any, but I think the reviews are related to other switchbot products based on what I read. The only problem I’ve had with the app is a weird glitch I’ll call “Space Creep” where the color divisions of the rooms and different spaces creep in a direction after using the map for some time. This can be counter acted by reloading the map from your favorites, so it’s nothing majorly bad or anything of note in my experience. That said, there really aren’t too many cons to this robovac, but here are some changes I’d wanna see:- Custom dust collection settings: I feel like even with every 60 minutes, the most frequent setting, it isn’t enough for super dusty/pet occupied places when first starting to vacuum given the small bin size, so having a slider that let’s you set custom intervals, maybe down to 10 minutes, would be a massive improvement. The new version has a bigger dust bin apparently, so this may no longer be needed on the pro version, but would like to see it on this one.- Custom accessory usage settings: A switchbot standout feature, but each mechanical part or sensor on the K10+ has a service life on the app that tracks how often it should be replaced or cleaned. That said, the interval for the dust intake filter should be MUCH lower, as this guy sucks up a lot of dust even after vacuuming a place for awhile. This should be cleaned a lot more than every 150 service hours, so I wash/ replace the dustbin filter whenever I wipe the sensors, and immediately ordered replacements. I highly recommend checking your filter after 30 use hours to keep on top of excessive dust ingress.- Auto-adjusted suction can’t be turned off: despite having my power level be set to standard whenever this robot cleans, because it starts on laminate each time, the power level keeps changing to its “strong” level when moving to carpet, and there’s no option to turn off the auto adjust. I’d like a way to just have the robot adhere to the parameters given in the schedule. This is annoying if I want to vacuum at later hours and I have to set the power back to a quieter setting each time it goes over a different surface.- Replaceable battery: while the degradation hasn’t become noticeable yet, having the battery be easily replaceable like on older roombas is something I’d pay a good deal for just to know that I can keep this running like new for as long as possible. As it stands, the battery is only replaceable through switchbot apparently, and no videos exist on the process when it inevitably needs replaced. And… that’s it!Overall I can’t see myself ever really getting rid of this vacuum even if I get a new one, especially given there really isn’t any other vacuum out there with this form factor, so here’s hoping with maintenance this guy will last a long time! It’s really good to see a company that’s trying to innovate the robovac market, as it seems both of their current vacuums have a lot to offer!

Surprising little powerhouse for a great price!
Wow, I’ve got a lot to say about this vacuum. Buckle up – this is going to be a long one, but I hope to be thorough and honest!I’ve written a lot of reviews about smart home products because I’m pretty passionate about them and tend to share about the products I have extremely strong feelings about and this one doesn’t disappoint. I’ve got a two story home and on my main floor I’ve got a Roomba J7+ and a Braava M6 to handle the vacuuming/sweeping and mopping but upstairs I don’t have anything but a gaggle of kids doing chores to handle the sweeping and Swiftering and they’re honestly terrible at it, so I’ve been looking for a solution but didn’t want to spend another thousand dollars on the Roomba pair, but also didn’t want to get a cheaper model in a brand I’m not familiar with.Enter SwitchBot.I’ve got a ton of SwitchBot products so I was instantly interested in this one and had my eye on it for a couple months. At around $500 with the ability to both sweep and do wet mopping (more of a swifter/wet rag type than proper mopping) this one seemed to really fit the bill for me, but I still wasn’t sure. I waited until it had a couple reviews and it seemed really positive so I pulled the trigger. Iâve used it for about 3 weeks now to get a good understanding of all of its features, functionality as well as the drawbacks and issues so I could give a fair and honest review. The Vac arrived and I was kind of shocked at how much smaller it is than Roomba – this was not expected and not a reason for purchase, but ended up being one of my favorite features unintentionally. Upstairs, weâve got so many tiny places that I wasnât really thinking about like under the bed, around small crevices under desks, under couches, etc. that it can easily navigate around because of itâs smaller size. The other thing that is really advantageous is that it uses a laser for all of itâs navigation and mapping as opposed to Roombaâs camera/laser combo – Roomba wants you to have lights on for itâs optimal navigation which would be really difficult in an upstairs/bedroom area as well as our movie theater we have built where the windows are blacked out and all the lights are low. With the laser system this little guy has, it has no problem handling low light and navigating pretty flawlessly. The precision of its mapping from that laser system is incredibly impressive – itâs actually SO much better than my big expensive Roomba. Thatâs something that legitimately blows my mind. It makes me incredibly happy with this purchase (and honestly a little frustrated with Roomba after seeing how great this is to know how good Roomba could be). As it goes through and maps your house/floor, it will automatically add in dividers for rooms where it thinks the rooms are and does a pretty good job – and you can adjust and fix these yourself if it gets it wrong. When it did my initial mapping, it got one room confused for 2 or more and it was easy to merge them into a single room and update it, or split a single giant room it didnât understand into two, etc. â¨After it maps the room, then you can add labels and name the rooms so you can tell it âvacuum the bedroomâ or âvacuum the whole house except the bathroomâ and so on and this works extremely well. The only downside here is that sometimes the room labels seem to kind of randomly bug out and change rooms – like in my attached image you can see where it shows my bathroom randomly in my hallway, my kidâs room became the closet, etc. The only way I found to fix them is just legitimately relabeling them. You also have the ability to use âRC modeâ and control the vacuum like an RC car and drive it around to clean and vacuum the room which is pretty cool and fun. I havenât found a real functional purpose for this other than to play around with, but itâs very cool nonetheless. I think if I was using the vac on my main floor where my kitchen is, Iâd have a better use for it as Iâd use it to drive around and clean up things like food spills near counters or do spot treatments here and there instead of doing a whole room. When it comes to actually doing a sweep of a room, it does really awesome straight lines back and forth and creates beautiful vacuum lines on a rug/carpet. It also does a hard stop between rooms and wonât go any further than what youâve requested – you can see that in one of the pictures Iâve included where it stopped exactly at the end of the hallway and didnât enter the loft area. This may not seem like a big deal, but itâs pretty sharp considering the Roomba is not nearly as accurate and often finds its way by still bumping around even with its mapping system. When it comes to the âmoppingâ system, it comes with a few wet pads that are very similar to the Swifter wet wipes – theyâre basically like moistened wet baby wipes that snap on the SwitchBot on a special little plate that locks in over the brush and will mop around on the floor until the wipe runs dry. It will still mop when itâs dry, but itâs just less effective. You can buy more wipes when you run out, but they also include instructions on how to cut down a rag/towel to make your own which I really appreciate. Itâs not often a company does this when they can just as easily try to sell you more products instead. The brush it uses to sweep is a traditional brush – a single brush. It works really well, but definitely gets tanged up every now and again and needs to have the hair, strings, carpet fibers, etc. cut free so it can spin (and they do include a little razor/slicer tool that stores in the dust bin!) so it can spin freely. It picks up EVERYTHING and does a really good job of collecting and over time Iâve noticed that the amount of debris that itâs gotten picked up has gotten to be so little that it has very few clogs and issues where the brush needs cleared.Overall, hereâs a breakdown of the pros and cons:Cons:* Brush needs clearing frequently in the beginning* Vac can struggle with running over loose, smaller cords* Room labels sometimes randomly mix up and change rooms* Some surfaces can be clunky and loudPros:* Mapping system is absolutely excellent* If thereâs an issue/error, the vacuum speaks out loud and tells you whatâs wrong with words – not beeps/codes. It will literally say âhelp, Iâm stuck!â Or âmy brushes need cleared!â* Map is very accurate and you can look at it on the phone to see exactly where the vacuum is* Navigating around corners and under and around tight spaces is really great and the vacuum seems to have no problem getting wherever it wants to go.* Excellent suction power and does a great job cleaning floors* Has both a wet mop and vacuum option* RC mode is a cool little feature for spot cleaning* Can set âclean zonesâ and âstay out zonesâ to have it clean specific areas that may encompass multiple rooms or stay out of specific areas in rooms. For example: I have it clean my whole loft, but have a âstay outâ zone around my computer desks so it doesnât spend a long time trying to navigate around my chairs and weird desk leg situation.* Battery life is excellent and can do almost my entire top floor in one charge* Map is constantly updating and shifting based on real life changesSummary:This little thing is amazing and absolutely worth the cost. When itâs time for me to buy another robot vacuum, Iâll absolutely be looking to SwitchBot for my next one. I 100% recommend and endorse this little guy and would strongly recommend anyone who is considering a robot vac to take it from someone who has plenty to give this little guy a shot.

Edit #2:Customer support reached out to me and wow, I was very impressed by how they handled everything. Betty was very helpful assisting me, and very responsive. I shipped the defective vacuum back, was refunded shipping, and they sent me a new one. So far that one is working well. They also took care of duties and offered one year worth of consumables!I hope that this vacuum doesn’t encounter any issue, but I know that if it does, customer support will take care of it. Amazing.Edit :After only one month of owning this robot, I’m getting an error message that makes it unusable. My “top radar is not rotating” even though it’s perfectly fine. I tried everything. Customer support has never contacted me back (you have to go through the app) . I tried calling them at different times of the day and am always getting “no agent available”. Same through emails. For 400$+, it’s very disappointing.—-I received this cute vacuum today, to replace my old one that just kicked the bucket after 6 years of loyal service.Very easy to set up, it looks like well made and convenient. The small size is great, it goes everywhere, and clean fairly quietly (especially compared to my old one).So far it didn’t get stuck anywhere, and handles my rugs (the sisal one too!) like a champ. I like the app, and the mapping with different rooms is AMAZING (I didn’t have that with my previous robot) and allows me to clean that particular room where my cat has his litterbox and puts pellets everywhere. It’s only it’s first day but I’m glad I chose that vacuum!
