Really helps reduce smell
We had a stray outside show up to stay and our inside boys werenât pleased at first. There were several pee/spraying spots at the sliding doors where they smelled each other. I had to do some cleaning but this product really seems to help diminish the urine smell.

So last year during renovations a ‘designer’ talked my Dad into wall to wall cream shag carpets. We have two cats, one who is quite elderly and prone to hairballs and having accidents (including, occasionally, the runny brown kind). I’ve been using this stuff with the help of a Bissel brand Little Green Machine (portable carpet cleaner, bought at costco, highly recommend for pet stains!) for the past few months. I have pulled some horrific stains out of those ridiculous cream carpets, even managed to get up a few set in stains that Nature’s miracle brand carpet cleaner left behind. I can’t say whether or not this stuff prevents re-marking in cats with that problem, but it works on stains.It it absolutely KEY that you blot, DO NOT SCRUB, when using this product. Scoop up any ‘debris’, saturate the stain, blot with a paper towel, saturate stain again, let sit to allow product to work, blot again with something absorbent. At that point I use my carpet spot cleaner to get the product out of the carpet, and tada, no more stain. And I find the vanilla smell of this product much more pleasant than other strong floral scents, but that’s personal preference I suppose.

Product is amazing, But didn’t come with 3-in-1 nozzle
Note: Purchased to clean around porch & exterior of house where community cats like to spray. My bottle arrived with a standard spray nozzle that quasi fit and only had a wide spray option so couldn’t use it to foam or narrow spray, which was the reason for purchasing it.Pros: Smells pleasantly like B&BW men’s lotion that lasts for quite a while. Works instantly spraying & wiping up with paper towels & seems to deter respraying for about a week depending on weather conditions. Non staining.Cons: Missing nozzle pictured in product details resulting in it just being able to be used 1 was, rather than the advertised 3; couldn’t use the foam function.Update 4/7: Ordered another bottle & it arrived with correct 3-in-1 nozzle!

It works, but sometimes the cure is worse than the disease…
Firstly, let me say that this product seems to work. It leaked significantly in transit, and I used a cat-stained pillowcase to wipe off the bottle and the packaging before returning it. The good news is that the pillowcase no longer smells of cat pee.The bad news is that it now reeks of the product’s synthetic fragrance, which turns out to be a migraine trigger for me. I’ve put that pillowcase through the washing machine three times now with various odour eliminators, and the scent is still there. So while Simple Solution’s spray seems to have done the job (the scent isn’t masking the cat odour, as far as I can tell), the pillowcase is still unusable due to the persistent and pungent perfumes in the product.[EDIT: So, after six months of washing the pillowcase whenever I had space in a load, it’s finally free of the product fragrance. It turns out, though, that a slight cat odour persisted underneath the spray’s scent, and remains on the pillowcase. That could well be because the fabric wasn’t completely saturated by the product when I cleaned up the leak, however. So I continue to believe that Simple Solution’s spray works pretty well, even though it was definitely not for me. – March 2013]Unfortunately I was sitting on my couch when I opened the box, and some of the product leaked onto that, resulting in the same problem – multiple vinegar rinses and a wet-dry vac later, I can sit on that end of the couch for short periods without my head starting to pound. But that’s a lot of work for a small leak!So while this product appears to shift odours, it’s a risky proposition for anyone with chemical sensitivities, migraines, or other intolerances.Finally, as I said in the first line, the product leaked when Amazon sent it to me. The first time they sent it out, this spray was packaged up with an order of books (despite their claiming those would ship separately); unsurprisingly, the books were water-damaged and reeked of this stuff! I sent the whole lot back since the spray bottle seemed to have lost a fair amount, and they sent me a replacement bottle – which also leaked! I’ve left packaging feedback so hopefully this will improve for future orders, but fair warning – you probably don’t want to order this in the same order as food items, books or anything else you don’t want it leaking on.

This worked very well. Unfortunately, you need more than one to really get the job done. You need to really soak the area with this stuff. A spray Bottle. really isn’t enough.

Works faster than other enzyme-based brands
I’ve been using enzyme/bacteria-based cleaners for urine for a few years, but this has become my new favorite. It works faster than other brands I’ve used (Nature’s Miracle and Just Rite) plus it has a much more pleasant smell while it is working.The bacteria/enzyme-based cleaners work so well because the bacteria break down the urine. The problem is that while that is happening, the smell can get worse (especially with Nature’s Miracle). Simple Solution, on the other hand, is highly scented so that it covers up the smell while the bacteria are breaking it down. The scent is not great (think of a heavy-duty air freshener) but miles better than urine odor! The scent does dissipate so that the rug is left smelling pretty neutral once the process is complete.The bottle has an adjustable spray so you can use a narrow stream (for soaking deep into the carpet) or a wide spray (for covering larger areas). The key to getting this to work is to fully-saturate the urine area.Simple Solution has several variations of this product. I tried the regular strength, and the “extreme” version (this product) is worth the extra cost since it does work faster and you end up using less. They also make a dog-specific version of the Extreme. I don’t know what the difference is between the cat and the dog versions (probably just marketing), and Simple Solution did not respond to my email asking for more info.Wish it was less expensive, but it certainly does the job, and does it well. Highly recommend.
