Very powerful
Used this to clean up about 10 pounds of sawdust and wood chips in my shop the day I received it. It worked great. Cleaned every bit of the mess up without a hiccup. Then I went outside and sucked a gallon or so of water out of an AC drain line along with all the slime mold that grows in there and will occlude the line if I don’t suck it out every couple moths or so. Very strong suction. Easy to work controls. Nice selection of accessories.

Buy it to Fight it
Had plenty of power and storage but the hose is so stiff that you are constantly fighting the hose rather than vacuuming. Imagine a stiff carwash hose that is only about 8′ long and has a double coil memorized from being shipped inside the vacuum. Now imagine yourself trying to vacuum and the vacuum is not heavy enough to be an anchor point and the hose is constantly trying to roll back up. You fight the hose instead of cleaning up. I sent it back.

Very thin vacuum hose
For some reason ShopVac is using a very thin vacuum hose now. It kinks very easily. Sure would be nice to have my old hose but I threw it out when I got this new machine.

Hose is the downfall
The hose kinks way too easy! Looking for a replacement hose i can buy. Wish I would have kept the old shop vac hose!

Could not test or use.
I thought double tape on vac exterior box was odd. However, upon start of going through parts / assembly… found it was missing two of the four wheels. And who knows whatever else. Stopped setup and returned vac.

Disappointed
The vacuum that I received was very much a used vacuum. The bottom was all scratched. Other than that it works fine. Good suction.

Not stong enough. 3 months and broken
Every few years I need to buy one of these and they keep getting worse. The suction is nowhere near as good as older units. The hose is so thin and collapses so easily it’s embarrassing.3 Month update…. Broken after a few months of light use. Zero stars, if that were possible..

Powerful wet/dry vac
We are now a two shop-vac family. I purchased a small one (2.5 gallons or so I think) a few years ago to make it easier to carry to jobs away from my workshop, and it is still going strong. Now I got this larger 12gallon model to replace an old model with the same capacity but not as much power as the new Shop-Vac. This thing really has a lot of suction power! In addition, although the capacity is the same as my old one, the Shop-Vac is taller but less wide than the old one which I appreciate since floor space is at a premium in my workshop. I will use it for the usual shop vac jobs – cleaning up spills and other messes, plus I also connect it to one of my band saws for dust-collection duties.Just a little assembly is required here: namely attaching the wheels and the accessory tote on the back of the unit. Included in the package are a couple of extension wands, a wide (14″) nozzle with a brush, a smaller 8″ nozzle without a brush, and a narrow nozzle. There is a screw-on plug in the side of the body for easier draining of liquids, which is convenient. 12 gallons of water would be pretty heavy to lift and dump. The included filters are a little confusing. There is a standard pleated filter (that one is perfectly understandable), as well as a foam sleeve which doesn’t fit OVER the pleated filter as a pre-filter as I would expect, but rather INSTEAD of the pleated one. Then there is a large circular sheet of filter material which is supposed to be placed on top of the filter cage and over the foam filter and held down with a plastic ring that comes with the vacuum. It’s kind of weird, at least to me. I’m wondering why someone would use such a configuration instead of the pleated filter, but the instruction manual doesn’t really say. Also included is a large full-capacity disposable filter bag for dry vacuuming. At first I thought this was for really fine dust like drywall dust, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Based on the instructions which are a little vague on this point, it seems to just be for general purpose dry pick-up use to extend the life of the main filter and keep the inside of the tub cleaner. The included instruction manual is what I would call poor. Unfortunately its content covers several different models, so not all things are applicable to all models. That may be why the filters are so confusing to me. Also, the models it covers are apparently dissimilar since some of the illustrations have no resemblance to this model of vacuum at all and the manual doesn’t specify what applies to what.Anyway, I like the vacuum for the power and the reputation of Shop-Vacs as being well made and long-lasting machines. I’m deducting one star from my rating because it’s kind of expensive compared to most of the competing brands, the confusing filters, and the poor instruction manual. But I can’t fault the performance one bit.
