Cleans well, but might be hard for some to control
This vacuum has plenty of power, and it offers nice features such as the detachable tank, several tools, etc. A possible drawback for some might be its swivel head. It’s very maneuverable, but the tank is heavy enough that it tends to turn the head to one side or the other if it gets off the center line. My wife has an arthritic wrist, so it’s hard for her to control the turns. We have found no way to lock the head to the center position, which would likely eliminate this problem. Otherwise, it seems like a great bagless vacuum.

Cleans well
Powerful suction that can be adjusted for bath mats or spills. Swivel feature makes regular back and forth movement difficult at times. Lift away feature is cumbersome. Great quality but design flaws.

Not the best vacuum I’ve ever used, but it’s good enough to get 5 stars….with some caveats.
Executive Summary: It’s a fine vacuum, at least as far as my needs go, and does everything it promised to do. The caveats I’m about to list are for informational purposes, not to downgrade the rating I gave the vacuum which is based on performance of the functions the listing claimed.Caveats:1) I got the Amazon refurbished version of this vacuum (more info in the boring details below.)2) the model I got does not have a stair-specific attachment.3) I hate vacuums that have narrow heads and swivel (or ball) connections to the body of the unit which this model does.Boring Details:Pros – The suction is very good, especially at the tools. It picks up my cat’s hair efficiently. The head is low enough to fit under most of my furniture. The detachable canister and wand is handy for cleaning pet hair off of surfaces. It’s lightweight.Cons – The hose is too short and/or doesn’t expand (accordion?) enough. The result is that if you detach the upper part to clean a surface other than a floor, and don’t ALSO detach the canister and carry it in your hand, the rest of the vacuum will tip over easily. I didn’t reduce the stars of the rating because, well, detaching the canister is an effective and not too onerous work-around, and the reason it tips so easily is at least partially due to how lightweight it is. And that’s probably a good trade-off.More on the caveats1) I got the Amazon refurbished version of this vacuum, which Amazon stated would be equal to New vacuum performance with only a few cosmetic issues that would not be noticeable when held at arms length. These claims are probably true, though I don’t have a new model to compare performance to. I could not see any cosmetic issues.2) The model I got does not have a stair-specific attachment, so I gave it a 3 star rating in terms of stair cleaning because it works at least as well as other vacuums I’ve owned. Since it was not advertised as having a stair cleaning head, I didn’t reduce the star rating. There is a stair cleaning head that can be ordered from the manufacturers web site, but it isn’t a powered head, so I suspect it won’t work any better or be any more convenient than using the wand.3) I hate vacuums that have narrow heads and swivel (or ball) connections to the body of the unit. But, that’s a personal preference and I knew this was one of those vacuums when I ordered it, so I’m not letting that influence my rating. Some folks love this style of vacuum. I prefer the old style with a wide head and a stiff, unarticulated connection to the rest of the unit. You can cover a room much more quickly with those and they really are not more difficult to use…in my opinion. But this style has become the norm. It is what it is.

Not as light as some but seems to be an excellent vacuum after 2 months
I think there are lighter vacuums that have equal capabilities, but probably not at this price, or maybe as versatile. We do really like it and the suction seems above average. It is very helpful to be able to separate the vacuum from the base, and the hose can be pulled off to reach under stuff.

Professional cleaner review!
I go through vacuums quickly as a professional cleaner, but this one is still working great. The only problem I have with it, is that hair gets stuck in the roller brush after only one vacuum.

Smells and a little cumbersome
TL;DR The suction is so amazing that it actually caused problems when using the special features that are the reason I bought it. The “renewed” filter came drenched in chemical cleaner that stinks up my house every time I use it even after a thorough washing. The filter in this renewed shark NV586 smells SO STRONGLY of comet or some other cleaning solution. I noticed it while assembling the vacuum and hoped it would dissipate. When I used it right out of the box It filled the house with the smell. I took the filter out and washed it with dawn, no luck. The I soaked it in a vinegar baking soda mixture for like 10 hours, NO change in the smell. I’m going to give it about a week to see if it goes away but if not I’m sending it back. Now onto the rest. I love the lift away feature on here where the brush roll (rolling vacuum head) stays attached to the wand, essentially turning it into an old-school canister style vacuum. HOWEVER I have found 3 issues with this.1) you can only use the wand with one hand because you have to carry the canister in the other hand or it falls over as you move the hose.2) The suction is sooo strong that when you are using the wand it pulls the hose tight, meaning the long hose ends up only being like 3-4 feet long. If you set the canister down to use the wand it falls over (weird issue to complain about I know).3) Again due to the strong suction; when using the brush roll with the canister removed, the brush roll is too light. This means 2 things happen. The head lifts off the ground when you are pulling it back unless you keep the wand lower than feels normal. And when the brush roll is turned on for the carpet it pulls forward so aggressively that my arm gets tired pulling it back towards me.There IS a valve to lessen the suction but I just feel like that defeats the purpose. This would be a good vacuum for someone who doesn’t mind wrangling it for the benefit of the suction power.
