This is a longer review. But hopefully helpful. I had previous version of rug doctor for 10 years and it was amazing. It cleaned up after 2 new puppies and one who refuses to house train. It cleaned old and new stains and cleaned what competition could not as you can see in pictures. My old rug doctor got a crack in the dirty water tank which we sealed with a special glue and it lasted another few years of constant use until it started to leak internally. It had a motorized brush that never failed and bristles that stayed in good condition for again ten years. I loved it. It cleaned everything we could throw at it new and old. When it died I made mistake and bought the leading competition thinking it must be better. I was terribly wrong. That machine must be defective but good luck if you missed out on return window. After hours and hours of horrible customer service I am stuck with a defective machine that does not clean any stain whatsoever. I was without a carpet cleaner that would actually work for 2 months so wised up and I bought newer version of rug doctor that cleaned what the other couldnât despite 3 different times trying to clean a fresh stain. The doctor cleaned that now old stain in one try. It sucked solution like mad and left carpet nearly dry too. Which is very important if you know about cleaning carpet.The prior rug doctor cleaned so well I was an idiot to not just save myself from the headache of having to deal with what I am going through now. The new version is much the same except it has rubber bristles and no motorized agitator which I did like – I donât know why they would get rid of that functionality that put it ahead of any other spot cleaner. Regardless it worked beautifully to finally clean stains up and out for good. The new dirty water tank opens up more fully and itâs easier to clean. Itâs not a particularly small machine and it packs a lot of power which means carpets dry faster. It does have wheels though and itâs not overly heavy. Itâs a quality made machine that I hope lasts another ten years. I wish the cleaning head could be removed but itâs not a deal breaker. This is a power house of a cleaner and is made well to stand time. I hope the newer version lasts as long and since nothing about the main body of machine has changed it should. I never cleaned hose out after use with old one now I know better so just put some hot water in a bowl and suck it through hose and maybe that will keep it better so Iâm told. I will never get another spot cleaner. Itâs a ten out of ten. Iâm still using this on every stain the other one couldnât clean to save its life. Itâs been 2 months with a dog that has cancer and vomits and the one that loves to mark on carpet. Some things about the competition brand new bad awful highly rated one- the cleaning head is small. Too small and it was defective so it didnât suck appropriately. A huge bonus is I never had to contact rug Doctor customer service ever because both machines work amazing. Good luck if you have a problem with the other one – you will be frustrated out of your mind. Iâm. Very pleased that all the stains that have accumulated are gone and my carpets do need a deep cleaning overall but for a spot cleaner that I use weekly if not byweekly this is the go to work horse. Bravo rug doctor. Thank you for making a superb top of line product.

A Good Portable Cleaner – 10/2018 Update
For several years we had a heavy upright rug cleaner that worked fine, but was a pain to move around and lug up/down stairs. It worked fine for cleaning large areas, but the spot cleaning hose attachment sucked – and not in a good way…Over the years we replaced much of our carpet with hard wood, and realized that much of the carpet cleaning we did was spot cleaning (dog pee or a muddy shoe print). They upright carpet cleaner was a heavy hassle to use, so we bought the Rug Doctor portable. It works perfect for this small area (or stair) cleaning. I chose this over a competing Bissell unit for one critical reason: this has a moving brush in the handle which is key to getting a dirt loosened and sucked up. As another reviewer pointed out, the handle is a bit oddly shaped and is not easy to use in confined spaces like the floor pan of a car, but that aside, the motorized head, combined with very good suction, has made all the difference.I wish the plastic body was a had a little more quality feel to it, but in the end it cleans like a champ, and I am making a conscious effort to not treat this unit roughly in the hopes that it works for many years.=================================October 2018 Update:Had this unit for two years now, and it is still working excellent. As noted above, I try to treat it with care, especially when winding/unwinding the hose so as to not cause kinks or tears. I also keep it clean: every few uses I drain it completely and fill my sink with a mixture of hot water (~140F) and bleach, and then suck it through the cleaner. It not only cleans out the old dirty water residue from inside, it also disinfects it. This has had a huge effect on eliminating the bad odors in the cleaner that lingered after I used it. Still happy with it.=====================================================June 2022 Update:It died. The supply tube to the sprayer in the handle leaked over the motor that agitates the brushâ¦the nozzle was clogged. I searched online for replacement parts and ordered them. Was able to take apart the handle and replace everything but it never worked as well again. So i tossed it.It was replaced with a new Bissell upright cleaner with an upholstery attachment. Upright steam cleaners in 2022 are much, much lighter (and yes, probably much less robust) than the ones of old, but the Bissell upright I bough is pretty light and doesn’t weigh that much more than the old Rug Doctor. The Rug Doctor is a great machine, but given that I still have some large area rugs, the upright is better choice for me these days.

Great portable carpet cleaner
This was bought to use in my SUV to clean up a big coffee spill on the carpet. It did a great job in pulling the coffee from the carpet. The only thing that I wasn’t happy with was the size and form of the cleaning head wasn’t condusive to the confines of an automobile. But, that’s not the intention of this unit. However, I made it work and it did a great job. My can doesn’t smell like coffee anymore.I also used it to spot clean a couple of dog accidents that had been “cleaned up”, but not properly shampooed and deep cleaned. It did a great job pulling up the stains that had plenty of time to set. While the odor was already cleaned and removed, this took care of the discoloring that had occured.Great unit. A little noisy, but that’s to be expected of a vacuum. Also, it does come with a small bottle of pet stain cleaning solution. No need to order a bottle, like I did.

Great product
I spilled coffee on my brand new carpet. Tried to pay three different cleaning companies but they would come even though I offered to pay for the whole room. Stain was there for nearly three months. I was certain I was going to end up re-carpetting the room. But this little dude got the stain out.Used it in another room on (a pet stain) that also had brand new carpet. Shocked to see it worked on that too.Suck it cleaning companies. I saved money and got my stains out.

I did my research and decided on the Rug Doctor. This cleaned even old stains. I could not believe how filthy the water was! Itâs hard to believe my carpet could have been that dirty! Great product!

To use anywhere outside of the US you need to add a transformer that can handle at least 2k wattsâ¦ which are not cheapâ¦ so unless you already have one avoid getting this

First of all, I was quite surprised that this came with 2 small bottles of spot cleaner and a small bottle of carpet cleaner. The carpet cleaner doesn’t specify whether it’s pet safe however. One of the bottles of spot cleaner had leaked a little all over the box- but honestly it was a tiny amount and I wasn’t expecting the bottles at all so I wasn’t too bothered, although it did mean I had to recycle the box instead of my usual method of storing it for a while in case of returns!I found it very easy to use- I have pretty bad carpal tunnel in both wrists so I was a bit worried, but it didn’t create a huge issue. I did have to switch hands frequently when one wrist started to get fatigued, but didn’t have any lasting issues after cleaning 2 medium rugs, one large rug and a sofa. If you’ve particularly weak arm muscles you may want to try the upright machine instead or get a friend to do it for you!My rugs were all bought new in December 2020, so they’ve only had 9 months of use, mainly in lockdown, so only I’ve been walking over them in socked feet. Any rare guests have been made to take shoes off. The picture shows the waste water from the single large area rug, which has never so much as seen an outdoor shoe and is vacuumed daily, and it’s still surprisingly dirty!The small rugs took perhaps 10-20 mins and the large maybe 30-45. They took around 30 minutes to be dry enough to walk across without getting soaked feet, and about 3 hours to dry completely with the windows open. The sofa took about half an hour and took maybe six hours to dry completely. The suction is very powerful, but my sofa surface is pitted which made it hard for the unit to get a seal to suction the water out completely.My only slight quibble is with the spray which shoots slightly wide of the carpet so you have to aim it to avoid getting a puddle of cleaner on the floor! It also drips infrequently. And as another review mentioned, you have to have everything ready to go to fill the unit from a protruding tap and add the solution to it because it doesn’t have a flat top so you have to hold it in position. I saw a question about how to remove the vacuum front for cleaning, and it does tend to get dirt and hairs lodged in it I noticed- it’s a clear plastic front so you can see all the water being sucked out (and when there’s no more liquid to suction) but it does look dirty after a while. I found just running a little tap water in to it and then swishing it around and pouring it back out cleaned this part very well.Oh and one last small gripe- the instructions say the waste tank is designed for you to fit your hand inside to give it a good clean. I have fairly small hands and it was still a slightly painful scrape getting it in, so I don’t recommend this unless you have child sized hands to be honest!Cable and hose wrap neatly and the unit stores very compactly for small spaces.Overall very happy with this little thing and my lovely clean carpets!

El negocio apenas inicia, aun no tengo los suficientes clientes pero considero que es un gran inicio con este equipo de limpieza. Con gusto compartirÃa mi experiencia en 3 meses mas adelante.Hola nuevamente..!! aquÃ reportÃ¡ndome 30 meses despuÃ©s de la compra!! ( Julio 2019 a Enero 2022) la maquina sigue funcionando la uso para lavar, salas, colchones y por supuesto asientos de auto. Si bien no trabaja diario lleva 30 meses trabajando!! ( cada vez que es requerida) el sistema de inyecciÃ³n dejo de funcionar pero la succiÃ³n al 100%. Mi sugerencia es que utilices un fumigador de 3 Lts. trabajas mas rÃ¡pido y problema resuelto. Mi negocio sigue trabajando. He tenido funcionando la maquina hasta 4horas continuas (lavado de salas) Sin ningÃºn problema, producto recomendable.
