    Wonderful Machine
We purchased this Roborock model because we didn’t need one with the mop feature. It works great! I love the corresponding app that controls the vaccum, it’s super easy understand and use. The vaccum does not bump into furniture or vacuum up electrical cords (two concerns that I had). It is highly intelligent, thorough, quiet. It also manages thresholds and moving between hard wood and rugs effortlessly. I especially like that it can clean one or more rooms or the entire house, whichever you choose. My mudroom entrance and my entry hall get vacuumed daily, where other rooms only need it twice a week or so. It’s so easy to send the vacuum out -when and where you need it. The dust bag inside the vacuum charging base is large and won’t need to be changed often, I haven’t changed mine yet. I have looked into the dust tray in the vacuum and I was shocked at how my dirt the vacuum extracted from my floors and throw rugs.

Powerful, Convenient, and a Game-Changer for Cleaning!
The Roborock Q5 Max+ Robot Vacuum with Self-Empty Dock has completely transformed how I clean my home. The 5500 Pa suction power is incredible—it effortlessly picks up dust, pet hair, and debris from both carpets and hard floors. It’s a noticeable upgrade from the Q5+, delivering a deeper clean with even better efficiency. The self-empty dock is a lifesaver. Not having to manually empty the vacuum after every use is a huge time-saver, and it holds enough debris that I only need to deal with it every few weeks. The system works flawlessly, and the dock is sleek and doesn’t take up too much space. The navigation is smart and precise, with the vacuum easily maneuvering around furniture and avoiding obstacles. The app integration is excellent too—I can customize cleaning schedules, map specific rooms, and even set no-go zones. The battery life is impressive, easily handling multiple rooms in a single charge. If you’re looking for a powerful, hassle-free cleaning solution, the Roborock Q5 Max+ is worth every penny. Highly recommend it for anyone wanting a cleaner home with minimal effort!

    Best investment I’ve ever done!!
Having utilized this robot vacuum for several weeks, I am pleased to share my positive experience and provide a comprehensive review. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and encourage others to consider this product. The vacuum effectively creates precise vacuum lines, which are particularly beneficial for individuals who maintain a meticulous cleaning routine. Although my house is approximately 1550 square feet, it includes stairs, and I did not install any obstacles. The vacuum’s sensors ensure stability, preventing it from falling down the stairs. Additionally, it has a self-emptying feature that operates seamlessly. The vacuum operates relatively quietly, comparable to other robot vacuums in terms of noise level. It successfully removed dirt from the carpet and fuzzies left by my dog after he ingested his toy. Notably, it encountered a minor incident when it ran over my charger, becoming caught. However, it did not cause any damage to the charger or the vacuum itself. The charger was easily removed without any further issues.Overall, the robot vacuum has performed exceptionally well. Its quiet operation, effective cleaning capabilities, and user-friendly features make it a valuable addition to any household. I highly recommend this product and am grateful for the positive experience it has provided.

    Infuriating and Disappointing Updated
The first three days the Roborock performed flawlessly. I was so happy; I threw the box away. Then the trouble started. While cleaning, the Roborock started adding rooms that did not exist. No problem, put the imaginary rooms in No-Go Zones. That didn’t work because the Dock was too close to one of the No-Go Zones and would not leave the Dock. I removed the offending No-Go Zone. The next day the Roborock wandered aimlessly, turn in circles, cleaned small areas over and over again and went into other rooms. The Roborock did not know where the Dock was. It would collide with the Dock because there was an imaginary room on the other side of the wall. It wanted to go through that wall. It would not go to the Dock through the app either. No problem, restore a previous map. The next day the Roborock did not operate. I didn’t realize that you had to reenter all routines when you restore a previous map. I finally figured this out after a couple of days.I reentered the routines. The Roborock worked perfectly for the first room but added another imaginary room. When the Roborock entered the second room, it went rouge again. It wandered aimlessly, turn in circles, cleaned small areas over and over again, went into other rooms, could not find the Dock and collided into the Dock. The space that I am attempting to clean is a large open room that I divided into smaller rooms for cleaning. I clean half of the room in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. There are also windows and doors in this room but no mirrors. The bottom of the lowest window is two feet above the floor. It appears to me that the Lidar is beaming up too much, finding the glass and creating imaginary rooms. The Lidar needs to operate at floor level only.I don’t want to have to remap or restore an earlier version of the map every time that the Roborock cleans. I don’t want to reenter my routines every time I remap or restore, which may need to be done every day. The Lidar works great locating objects at floor level instead of banging into the objects like a Roomba does. If you have windows or doors in your house, I would advise against buying a Roborock. I wish that I had purchased another Roomba.Update: Imaginary rooms problem solvedImaginary rooms are created when the Lidar beams through glass. I took a Xmas card and taped it to the top of the Roborock (see attached picture). I had hoped that the card would block the Lidar from beaming through the glass. It’s been almost three weeks and the Roborock has not created any imaginary rooms. It is now operating as it should, so I’m changing my rating to four stars.

My main floor is a hydronic concrete slab, the 2nd floor is a matte hardwood, and my toddler’s playroom is carpeted with coral fleece. The Q5+ does a stellar job on each of them. It detects its surroundings and loads the proper map and settings for each floor. We have a big fluffy dog that would leave lots of hair and dirt all over the place and we can really see a huge difference since getting the Roborock. What’s important to understand with these vacuums is that they’re meant to run almost every day to *keep* your floors clean; you shouldn’t let dust and debris accumulate too much between cleanings. They also require frequent maintenance if you want to make them last. This is true for all robot vacuums. Some insight if you do choose the Roborock Q5+:-You can replace the main brush with the newer design rubber roller from the S7 models. It deals better with hair, but is somewhat less durable than the brush roller and also less efficient on carpet (many S7 owners on Reddit swap in a Q5 brush and say it works better than the rubber one on carpet).-If you stick with the original Q5 brush make sure you clean it often, as hair will inevitably get entangled around it. Also check the side brush regularly for entangled hair around the screw and seal.-The auto-emptying can be tricky as it requires a perfect seal in order to vacuum properly into the dock’s bin. Make sure the 4 plastic tabs of the brush cover are well tucked in the housing of the roller. The tabs should not be visible when seated correctly (see photo). If your dust box is not emptying this is most probably the fix for that.-Verify the robot’s dust box often for clogs, and keep that filter clean as they are expensive to replace. You should also clean your sensors with a microfiber cloth every once in a while. There is a timer in the app to remind you (it doesn’t actually detect anything; just a timer you have to reset manually).-For Android users: To connect properly to your WiFi you should turn off mobile data and any adblocker app, and also disable auto-connect to both 2.4 and 5 ghz wifi networks until the robot is paired.

We’d used an early model Roomba for years before getting this, but it always seemed like the Roomba was more hassle than it was worth. Rooms had to be pre-tidied – Light Barriers (and suitcases) had to be set up to limit the area being cleaned; choking hazards had to be discovered and quarantined beforehand. Many Roomba sessions were cut short by errors, or the device trying to bite off more than it could chew. The device often had a hard time finding it’s base dock to recharge, and of course, it always had to be emptied and inspected for tangles after each session.I bought this Roborock model after seeing how much the tech had advanced. The best changes:1. Lidar room mapping means no more needing to set up physical barriers to limit the cleaning area. The app lets you designate specific rooms, and the device knows where it is.2. The cleaning patterns are no longer random. The device plots an efficient grid pattern, and uses only as much time as it needs to clean.3. Self emptying makes it a real “fire and forget” process. Inspection and maintenance is still a good idea, but that doesn’t need to be done after every session.4. Alexa and Google Home integration. I can just ask it to clean the living room, and it does it. I was even able to give it the name of one of my kids, so I get the satisfaction of saying “Hey Google, ask Matthew to clean the living room”, and something ACTUALLY gets done right away!Reviews for Roborock are very solid, and the Q7 model was a strongly rated device at a competitive price. I’m a fan.
