Oreck Elevate Conquer – a great purchase
We’ve had our Oreck Elevate Conquer upright vacuum for a couple of months. It’s our first Oreck vacuum. Oh my, what a great vacuum. It’s so easy to use, light weight, and has great suction power. I especially like quickly moving from hardwood floors/tile to carpet with just a flick of a switch at the thumb to change the suction power. Our previous vacuum was a Kenmore canister, which worked very well for 10 years, but it was a hassle dragging the canister around, and changing the head for carpet/hardwood floors. The only issues associated with the Oreck is that it has no attachments, and isn’t practical with stairs. So, we also purchased a Eureka Mighty Mite that gives us the attachments for cleaning high areas and stairs. The Oreck Elevate Conquer is not inexpensive but well worth the price. It’s a great vacuum.

    Lightweight! I deserved this machine!
After having many failed attempts at other vacuums by shark, Dyson, bissell, Hoover, I have gone back to an Oreck! We have super shedding dogs, a parrot who drops seed outside his cage out of spite, and live in a mountain outdoorsy climate. The other vacuums were great for a couple months, then began losing suction and plastic parts breaking off. No one makes a vacuum as good as Oreck! They are lightweight, almost self propelled, and daily vacuuming is a breeze. Lesson learned, get an Oreck and skip the $100-300 others! And this model is beautiful!

Handle is a weak point; a bit cheap all around
I will reserve final judgment for after I receive a replacement for the defective unit I initially received, and update this review at that time, if warranted. The pictures may be hard to tell, but after assembling the vacuum (handle plus partial shaft must be placed in the other end of the shaft attached to the base of the unit; they are separate to begin with), the handle on this unit is crooked and points off to the left, rather than directly forward like the bag and the rest of the unit. I spoke with someone at Oreck who informed me this should not be. So, we’ll see, when I return this unit for a replacement. I hope it works out! I love that this vacuum is lightweight (it’s the reason I get Oreck). I have not tried its actual vacuuming aspects yet.———————-UPDATE: 5/4/2021After receiving a new unit, one which has a correctly aligned handle, I have come to find that the handle is simply a weak point on the vacuum. For whatever reason, the handle comes separated from the base of the unit, however not entirely, as wires keep the two permanently connected. You just have to screw in the handle. Well, I have noticed two issues so far. The worst is that while going in a back and forth motion with the cleaner, as one does, you can feel the handle sort of slip in and out occasionally, like it’s not pulled tight to the unit and secured when you lock in the handle, which I assure you I have. That brings me to issue number two. I have found, just once so far, that the tightening twist to secure the handle to the base has come loose. So, this handle is by far the worst part about this vacuum cleaner.Other issues include: 1) it is loud 2) it’s normal sound almost sounds like there is something wrong with it (to me) 3) it doesn’t get close to the walls on its sides when moving along them 4) there is no bumper protection around the base of the unit for those dings against furniture/walls, and they have gone with a dark motif coloring for this model instead of the light/white variety like that of a previous model of theirs I had.The thing sucks things up well enough, but these other issues will have me looking elsewhere next time.

    Ease of operation
I love Oreck. Light, great performance and this is my third. I have others but this is best for my back issues.

Same as an XL 21 with ncontempo look
Read all the reviews and still bought it. My XL 21 was overhauled for use elsewhere. This one is about the same thing. The maneuverability seems clumsier with the new one. I thought they would make it just as nimble as the Magnesium model which was like pushing a feather……but not even close. In fact, this is a pita when trying force the unit to swivel compared to the Magnesium model. The Magnesium though really had lame suction compared to this one. And when the reviews mention how loud it is, they are not exaggerating….this thing like the XL21 is loud! Possibly the suction is a little better than the XL21, but more likely because its new with unworn parts and clean less resistant vaccum chute internals and possibly using a new empty bag. Weight is a few ounces heavier than XL21 no matter what the specs say. Better contemporary, less institutional look, otherwise no changes justifying a hopeful upgrade..

Nice looks but still very loud.
I have purchased several Oreck vacuums recently from Amazon. This one was the most expensive, but claimed to have a low 49 db sound level. That was my main reason for selecting this expensive model. All others run at around 80 db, or higher. Loud by any standard. This one is actually the same volume as the others, or at least very close. The 49 db claim is a lie even at the hard floor lower speed it is still above 75 db.It does have good suction, and it looks more refined than the lower priced Orecks like the commercial XLs. But, those cheaper models seem more durable, and simpler. For example changing a belt on this model requires removal of 7 T20 screws. Three of them are deep in the plastic housing and can only be reached with a dedicated T20 driver. My driver accommodates multiple sizes and is too wide to fit into the deep holes to reach those screws. So, I need to buy a dedicated T20 driver specifically to change the belt on this model.Changing a belt on the XL models requires removal of just one Philips head screw. Super easy! The swivel feature does not work well. Too tight. It may loosen over time with use. Lights work well, but flickers a bit. This model does not seem worth the high price, unless one just likes its looks.
