Oreck Commercial Upright Bagged Vacuum Cleaner, Lightweight, 40ft Power Cord, Model U2000R1
I use this Oreck XL Model U2000R1 for home vacuuming. I have had several Oreck XL vacuums in the past. I serviced my old Oreck XL vacuums annually by a small-town vacuum repair guy, who was older, experienced, & honest. He taught me how to correctly wind up the cord to avoid cord damage, which is wind in a figure 8 pattern. After researching many other Oreck models as well as other vacuum upright bagged vacuum brands, I decided on the true blue Oreck XL brand & purchased this particular model (U2000R1) because the description checked all the boxes of what I was looking for in a vacuum.I have used this new Oreck XL vacuum several times since purchase & will give you my honest assessment of the product.Likes:-Nice self-propelled feature especially on low pile carpet & tile/linoleium flooring; however, you need to use both hands to steer the vacuum in tight spaces like corners. On higher or thicker pile carpet the self-propelled feature is not as noticeable so easier to steer.-Awesome suction (I vacuumed with my old Oreck just before using the new one, then I vacuumed immediately after using the new Oreck & was surprised by the sounds of tiny sand, pepples & small debris still left in the carpet that the old vacuum missed!)-Uses the same bag refill as my old Oreck XL, so I don’t have to buy more bags-Slim build, so it fits nicely in the hall closet along side of my old vacuum-40 foot cord & it’s red, so I can see it easily on dark colored flooring-Smooth transition between low/high pile carpet and tile/linoleum flooring-The on/off power button is on the handle; easy to control and I can use my foot to unlock from the upright position. I no longer have to switch my weight from one leg to the other & hold onto to the wall to unlock from the upright position & press the start button with my foot, which is what I had to do with my old Oreck. Now it’s easy to unlock from the upright position with my foot & then press the start button with my thumb when I’m balanced and ready to begin vacuuming.Dislikes: -The description said this Oreck XL Model U2000R1 vacuum weighs 9 pounds; that’s inaccurate; I weighed it and it registered at 33 pounds! One of the primary reasons I chose this model was because the product description said it weighs 9 pounds, so I am disappointed on that feature. My old Oreck XL vacuum registered in at 39 pounds! So I am still pushing around 33 pounds of vacuum – however – the self-propelling feature helps.-The upright locked position doesn’t hold very well on carpet, as it tends to tip over so you need to be cognizant of where you place it when locking it in the upright position on carpet; however, it seems to hold okay in the upright locked position on tile or linoleum flooring.I am a senior on a fixed income. I spent about a year researching & shopping for a vacuum that I could afford, would be easy for me to operate, not be loaded down with a bunch of bells & whistles I don’t need, & not break after a few months of use. These were the main criteria I used for deciding on this particular vacuum. Aside from the weight feature, I think I could recommend this vacuum to others.

One rugged commercial vacuum that just doesnât quit! Simple, very well made and gets the job done!
First off you need too know we have a 2-story home, about 30 years old, fully carpeted, with two indoor dogs (Corgis – who have two coats that they âblowâ year round!)! We learned a long time ago that dust and dog hair was a real problem, and needed a vacuum that could keep up. Tried several expensive ones with all the âdoo-dadsâ but they would break quickly, loose suction very quickly, couldnât keep up with the pet hair… You get the picture. Our most recent purchase before the Oreck was one of those âballâ type vacuums that supposedly never loose suction – supposed to be a real âAnimalâ, and the cost reflected the hype. But it was so lousy at picking up pet hair I would have to ârakeâ the carpet with a little plastic rake first to get up most the pet hair. It would loose suction and the cannister would fill up so fast I had to empty it after every room. So I broke down and spent some money on a simple vacuum with no gimmicks, just âa vacuumâ. The Oreck XL Commercial is the real âanimalâ in this zoo. It NEVER loses suction. Where none of the other vacuums I ever owned would do a good job of getting pet hair and that powder you spread to make the carpet smell good up in one pass, the Oreck gets all of it in ONE pass. The bag on this vacuum can be changed out in about 30 seconds (when you have too). I probably could vacuum this house twice and still not have to replace the bag as itâs really that big! And the cord is 40â long! No more constantly hunting for a plug. I plug it in once and do an entire floor. Itâs built very simple and tuff since itâs a commercial grade vacuum and very light weight. Oh, the handle is really nice and you can bend it completely level with the floor to vacuum under tables and such. I donât ussually take the time to right a review since I figure they should make stuff right to begin with. But this vacuum deserves a good review.

Great Suction
Bought this for our church. It gets used for about 90 minutes every week. Works great for large areas as it is light weight and cleans well. Lack of attachments and no swiveling head are the reasons for the lack of a fifth star–I knew this before ordering, but those would be nice additions.

Truly the best
This vacuum is incredible. It works a million times better than the Dyson I spent my savings on. Itâs a little loud BUT itâs easy to use, the cord is super long, itâs maneuverable and light to carry. I love that you can add a scent tab, it smells so fresh and clean. The bag is easy to put in and take out. I keep an extra bag in the back pocket in case I need it as Iâm working. It has serious power and itâs cute and red! â¤ï¸

Value for the money
This our third Oreck vacuum. The first two we owned lasted about 10 years each. They are light weight and clean very well. Each one needed a new brush set at about 5 years and belts lasted about a year and a half. the secret to care is to change bags when needed and not get them too full. Change belts before the slip too much and don’t get anything stuck in the brush. If something gets stuck stop it immediately and remove the item. Otherwise, you will ruin the belt. With proper care they will last 10 years, and I feel for the price, great value for the money. I would recommend. Happy customer.

The most terrible vacuum I have used in 50 years
From a seasoned domestic engineer with 50+ years of experience Pros: This vacuum is lightweight. It does pick up debris well. It does glide easily over multiple surfaces. Cons: it will give you an instant headache. The DB level, although not listed, sounds like itâs over 150. The on off switch is on the backside of the handle. In order to turn the unit on or off, you must stop vacuuming, reposition your hand from the handle and depress the power button. It does not have a light. The cord is bulky and not easily stored. The cord storage mechanism is not user-friendly, resulting in the cord being a tangled mess. I have owned Oreck products for over 30 years. This unit is, by far, the worst engineered vacuum I have ever used.

Excellent bang for your buck! The residential units are prettier and have a few bells and whistles, but Iâve owned both now and I would say this one is definitely more value for the money. I especially love the extra long power cord – I can do the whole main floor of my house without having to move to another plug.

Bought this to replace an preclude vacuum but have found it a bit on the heavy side, on the plus side it has a flexible hosepipe which works well.so far a very good machine.
