Makes dust collection less of a hassle
The Dust Deputy is great. I bought it about 2 weeks ago and so far it works perfectly. For tools that create lots of sawdust like a table saw or wood planer, this is a great setup to use. After running the planer for about 30 minutes, the bucket filled up. I canât imagine replacing the shop vac bag every 30 minutes. Of course you can use a vacuum filter and just keep emptying the vacuum drum, but then your filter will be clogged in no time. I actually waited too long to empty the dust deputy bucket the first time and the excess sawdust fell into the shop vac drum. So I just emptied the bucket, cleaned the vac drum, and made sure the filter was still clean. Itâs probably a good idea to empty the bucket when itâs about half or 2/3 full. The deputy allows you to run the vacuum at optimal performance while not having to change a bag or a filter. At some point youâll still need to change the filter because it will catch small particles over time, but I imagine that it will be a while before I need to do that. Installation was pretty easy. My shop vac drum is metal, but drilling 2 holes into the side wall was very easy.I highly recommend this product if you do a fair amount of woodworking. Although, I feel that it is priced too high. I think a more reasonable price range would be $70-75. Overall, it is a great investment.

Dust Deputy: Works better than advertised!
The Dust Deputy has far exceeded my expectations. I watched a review of cyclone dust separators from the Wood Whisperer and he recommended the Oneida Dust Deputy. The product claimed to remove 99% of the dust before it got to my shop vac. I’ve been using it and 99% would seem to be possibly conservative. I am getting almost no dust through to the bin or filter in my shop vac. I even vacuumed up some bits of styrofoam. Since it was so light, I was sure it would get pulled through to the vacuum canister. It swirled around in the cyclone chamber and when I turned the power off, it dropped into the bucket.Pros: – Captures nearly all of the dust so my shop vac filter stays clean and operating at full power – Even extremely fine dust stays in the bucket. – Uses two buckets – one with wheels bolted to the side of the shop vacuum and one to pull out and dump. This makes it very easy to empty the bucket. – The top comes off easily when it’s time to empty the bucket – Easy to assemble with clear instructions – Bolts easily to the side of the shop vac for stability – Wheels help with mobility – Fittings worked well with my shop vac hoseCons – The hoses just fit on rather than screwing in as they did on my shop vac so I can’t pull it around by the hose anymore. To fix this, you would have to have different fittings for different brands of vacuums so it’s probably not practical for them to solve this – With the Dust Deputy attached to my vacuum, it doesn’t roll as easily anymore. I could have chosen to not attach it so this isn’t a big deal either.Summary: It works incredibly well in removing the dust so it doesn’t plug my shop vac dust filter and is very easy to clean up. I wish I had gotten this years ago and would highly recommend it to any woodworkers who don’t have dedicated dust collection systems.

Worked Well to Collect Concrete Grinding Dust
This worked well for me when grinding down a concrete floor. It collected a lot of the fine dust. The wheel bracket attachment method to the collection canister is poor. The kit comes with some double side sticky tape to secure the wheel brackets. The drawing showed a flat land area on the wheel bracket that wasn’t there in my kit. This didn’t look very secure and was going to be trouble in the future. The instructions also suggested attaching the wheel brackets with 1/4 inch nuts and bolts which were not supplied. The bolt holes were already there on the wheel brackets. I ended up drilling the canister and securing the wheel brackets with 1/4 x 1/2 inch nuts and bolts and plain washers. There are 3 bolts holes per wheel bracket. Now the wheels won’t fall off.As others have mentioned, the hoses tend to pull off but can be secured with user supplied hose clamps. I didn’t do this as I wasn’t moving my setup around much and I needed to flush out the hose at the end of each concrete grinding session.

Easy Setup and Works As Desired!
First – hey, Oneida, if you made a unit for the Bosch Dust Extractor L-Boxx style (ala Festool Dust Extractors Systainer clip-on) I bet they’d sell! Or here’s an idea – make one in a box style with then adapters that could clip onto systainer or L-Boxx or…whatever.Otherwise, the set-up of this unit was quick and easy – or, a lot less time consuming that I had thought it would be. Yes, it is a bit of a PITA to have two wheeled devices to pull around. No, I have yet to attach the “leash”-like device/cord to my Bosch Dust Extractor to help the tag-along, but I guess when I comes down to it — when it is in use, I’m not usually moving around too much. I noticed little to none (noticable) suction loss and the fact that I can now use my Bosch Dust Extractor without its most annoying Auto Filter Clean function is awesome. I chose it since it was one of the quietest extractors out there, but the volume at which the AFC system BANGS three times every 15 seconds (that my condo neighbors can hear and actually thought I was pounding because I had been trapped under something) totally negates my original mission.Anywhoo – this Oneida Dust Deputy 2.5 is the bomb!Cheers!

This will make your shop vac bulkier, but boy does it ever work well! You will save money on filters. You will be saving the messy job of cleaning and/or replacing shop vac filters, and you will save money by not having to buy a new shop vac every few years because drywall dust has destroyed the bearings. If you deal with fine dust, like abrasive drywall dust, this thing is a MUST HAVE. You will maintain full suction, and not have to screw around trying to knock the dust out of your shop vac filter which will quickly plug up if you don’t have one of these. I’ve had one for 20 years and it is still going strong. I bought this one for my daughter and son-in-law. You will never regret buying this product even though it may cost a bit more that the competition.

Pricy for what is essentially mostly a plastic bucket but works great. It traps the vast majority of the dust in the bucket (which is really easy to empty), I do recommend this product, it sets up in minutes and has been working flawlessly since I got it. (I plugged a small shopvac when using the saw bench and other misc tools, shop vac not needed if used with a Dewalt planner)

Is one of the best pieces of kit, thankfully got this on a special deal, so paid no where near the £200+ being asked currently.Been using it with a Bosch GAS 30 on my house reno and the amount of dust it catches is unreal. Only the finest plaster dust gets into the filter bag. With Bosch bags being £7-8ea and being to empty so easily its definitely a welcome addition.
