Good for stay at home moms with littles!
Update : I bought a refurbished in excellent condition Roomba 692. I’ve had “Ella” ( short for “Cinderella” ) for 6 months now.I ordered new parts / brushes for it, and it’s about time to change them out, 6 months after buying it, but I’ll probably be lazy and not change them out for a year and it’ll still vacuum just fine. This is my first robot vacuum. I have no pets.Pros:• A lot of people say their roomba is loud. It’s not “quiet” but it is much quieter than my traditional vacuum. I can still hear my children or a phone call when it is running.• The app is clean and easy to use. I can start and send the vacuum “home” (to the charging base) from the app. I can pause cleaning from the app. The app tells me how much battery is left. The app will notify me if there is an issue with the roomba, like if it gets stuck or runs out of battery in the middle of a job.• Cleaning it out is very easy. With my traditional vacuum, I was always intimidated to clean it out, but I can pop the brush roller thing right out of it to try to get the tangled hair off. I wanted a self emptying vacuum originally but a good one is double or triple the price of this roomba, and honestly, I don’t mind emptying it because it is SO easy to and it’s SO satisfying to see how much it has picked up. It does get a lot of hair caught in the brush, and I have to cut it out with scissors.• It is actually doing much better at picking up things than my 4 yr old Dirt Devil traditional vacuum which I think is clogged up or something.• SERIOUSLY my roomba picks up so much every time it goes out! I don’t even know where it finds what it does. My floors aren’t super dirty or covered in dog hair, but I am still always amazed how full it gets.• IT FITS UNDER MY BED!! Before I got the roomba I’d have to take my entire California king mattress and box springs off the frame to vacuum underneath.• The little corner tool that sticks out of the vacuum gets underneath my apartment’s super old baseboard, which is amazing because a regular broom and a traditional vacuum hose does not pick up what it should.Cons:• You do have to prep your space for the roomba. Pick up small items that could get caught in it (you should do this for all vacuums anyways). I’ve accidentally gotten my phone chord wound up in the roomba brush a couple of times. Shut doors to rooms you don’t want the roomba to go into. It has gotten stuck once or twice (it’ll tell you by talking and sending your phone a notification). That’s why I say it’s good for stay at home moms — cause you can keep an eye on it. Right now, I wouldn’t want to leave the home with it running on its own. Even though it’s not 100% running on its own, it is still much better than pulling out a vacuum or broom.• It does seem to go in random directions, and cleans the same spot multiple times. But if you leave it running for long enough and barricade it to a room, it’ll go everywhere eventually.• I’ve seen it try to dock, after you “send it home” and while it eventually does do it, it’s funny watching it back in and try again multiple times. It also takes forever to go home by itself that I usually have to pick it up and just empty it out and put it on the charger myself.• Getting it hooked to Wi-Fi was a bit of a challenge for me, but I just let my brother who is more tech savvy try to set it up and he got it to work right away.Photos / Videos1: what it picked up from 1/5 rooms in my home in a 1 hr time frame.2: it doesn’t pick up 100% of the dirt and dust, but it does pretty good3: the random paths it goes at the beginning of being shut in a room

    Unit squeaked loudly
The unit worked well with the vacuuming and picked up great. It started to develop a squeak with a couple of times of use that only got louder and louder. It was horrible. We contacted the seller who sent a RA number and label. We had asked for a replacement unit since we really liked the way it cleaned the house. We finally received notice from the seller after returning the unit that they were refunding the purchase price minus a $22.50 restocking fee. We did not ask for a refund and wanted another unit. Our attempts at getting a solution by the seller has gone unanswered. Will not buy from this seller again. I am disappointed that Amazon has not stepped in despite my husbands attempt to contact both the seller and Amazon.

    Worth the money
I’ve used an expensive rainbow vacuum for years plus a cordless shark and finally pulled the trigger on a roomba and I’m so glad. I have two shedding dogs ( chow and GSD) and it is great to have run daily to keep up with true tumbleweeds of dog hair. If you have dogs you will have to empty the trap thing and pull hair out of the brush thing but they are super easy to remove and empty so I’m fine doing that if I don’t have to do the rest of the work. Having the vacuum run on the schedule and stay on top of the mess really makes a big difference in our house. It will get caught in random places at times or get jammed with a kids toy, but overall way worth it. Just wish I would have bought it years ago.

    Okay on dog hair
My old neato robot did a much better job but they went out of business and when it lost server support it got pretty stupid. So this time I got a Roomba because I thought at least they’re not going anywhere, but I’m disappointed in the performance, it doesn’t pick up near as much fine dirt, I think it just goes to fast. It does okay on the dog hair though.

Does not stop at the top of stairs
They’re supposed to, but I just bought a second one because the first’s battery wouldn’t charge after a tumble down my basement stairs. The new one immediately did the same thing. Battery is still holding, but why didn’t it stop at the stair lip like it should? I have a reflective metal edge on the step, which might be fooling it’s sensor somehow. Frustrating.Otherwise, these are the best things ever. I can’t believe I waited this long to get one.
