Works well
It comes with both a metal blade for glass aquariums and a plastic blade for acrylic. I got the small size as I have nano tanks. Size wise it’s perfect. I don’t like the tiny little 1″ magnet cleaners that you get with nano tanks. I much prefer something sizeable. The blade is a good 2.5″ long. It’s maneuverable and easy to use. The only issue is that I got the small given my glass thickness and Hygger’s recommendation, but the magnet isn’t terribly strong. It holds fine, but I’m used to cleaners that really don’t want to let go. I’ll update as I use it to see if it picks up a star. Overall I’m satisfied and would get another.

While this does work on them, the 2 parts separate far too often, so I wish the magnet was stronger. Also, while the scraper blades are a great idea, they don’t actually do too much, at least not for me. I tried them on a few areas where the regular brush didn’t work and they don’t do much, so I still had to reach into the tank and remove those stubborn algae formations with a razor blade.It does work much better on my 1/4″ glass tanks, but not sure I would recommend this for thicker glass.

Not Quite a Flipper, but Does the Job
The hygger Fish Tank Magnetic Glass Cleaner is decent for cleaning algae off my aquarium glass, but itâs a bit bulkier compared to other tools like the Flipper scraper. The removable scraper options (stainless steel for glass, plastic for acrylic) are handy, and the magnetic force is strong enough to make cleaning easy. Itâs also nice that it floats if you detach it, so you donât have to stick your hands in the tank.However, the size and bulkiness make it less ideal for leaving inside the tank 24/7 like I do with my Flipper scraper. Itâs easy to hold and does a good job with light algae, but for heavy-duty cleaning, you might have to go over spots a few times. If you’re looking for something to leave in the tank all the time, this might not be it, but it works just fine for periodic use.
