I bought this as my new puppy isnât 100% house trained yet. I pre treat the spots with pet urine / enzyme spot cleaner then do a couple of passes with the machine and it gets it right out.Sometimes it seems like the solution in the machine keeps going onto the carpet, even when Iâm not squeezing the handle to dispense it. So I remove the container with the solution when I go over the carpet to suction up the moisture.The stair attachment works well and has a decent size hose.The machine is easy to clean. Hoover includes tools for that plus a bag with a hook to store the hose attachment and tools.

Great Deep Cleaner with a Great Price
I needed a basic deep cleaner with an upholstery attachment. This works very well and is easy to clean. My carpets had a lot pulled out of them and the tool is straightforward. It’s extremely light, and compact enough that it tucks into my tight apartment closet. The one complaint I have is the water tank is extremely small and runs out quickly. You can generally get two detergent tanks into one extraction bucket on this. Best for small spaces like my 530sq ft apartment, not for houses!

PRETTY GOOD OVERALL
We had a professional carpet cleaner do the entire house back in April with fair/good results. The problem is we have a very light-colored (almost white) beige carpet with high traffic area blackish track marks in and out of the den and master bedroom. I tried carpet sprays, I tried powdered carpet cleaners, etc. to no avail, which was why we called the carpet cleaner back in April. So he got most of the high traffic area marks to look maybe 80-90% better, but he did not clean the area against the front of the couch bc he couldn’t get the edge of his machine close enough to the couch. He should have just moved the darn couch a foot back like I did a few days ago so he could get to all the carpet. In any event after only three months, we started to see the same dirty high traffic areas reappearing even though we never wear shoes in the house and the carpets in our den and master bedroom looked like they needed a light cleaning again because it was not really 100% when the carpet cleaner finished. He said it was an old carpet and hey what can you do? Rather than have the carpet cleaner come back out for an afternoon with the need to start moving furniture, tables, plants etc. again, I figured why not give this machine a try? It was worth it because this Hoover has done a good job overall, I did need to go over the carpet in the den 2-3 times to get rid of the blackish high traffic areas and did the area in front of the couch three times because the professional carpet cleaner didn’t bother to clean there. I asked a family member to look at the entire den when I was done and they said 100% better. It actually looks BETTER than when the professional carpet cleaner cleaned it! This is a 20-year old carpet in a heavily used area and it actually looks really good now. As noted, I had to do the den twice and the black high traffic marks three times, but so what? The bottom line is the carpet looks great now. Overall, I am really impressed with this machine. Everything works the way it says and it is a snap to use. PLUS the suction is so good the carpets are barely damp when done and are dry (at least in our low humidity climate in the desert) within a few hours, even though I used a few full tanks of solution in one room (den). With the clear brush cover you can see all the dirty cleaning solution being sucked back into the dirty water tank as you go over the carpet. I do note that I have to go pretty slow back and forth on both the cleaning and suction strokes in order to let the machine roller clean the carpet and then to allow it to suction out as much liquid as possible, but no big deal, the results are worth it. I had a little difficulty getting the HOSE attachment plugged in to the machine to do upholstery, but I used a touch of silicone spray on a rag where the water nozzle plugs into the machine and that fixed it. I’ve seen a few complaints that the cleaning solution bottle needs refilled often or the dirty water tank needs emptying often. Yes, you will need to refill the cleaning solution container a few times if you go slow enough to actually allow the machine to clean the carpet in a large area, and the dirty water tank fills up fast (it also has an audible change in tone to let you know you need to empty it), but no big deal. I keep a 5-gallon plastic bucket in the room I’m cleaning and empty the dirty water in there and just take the one big bucket out to empty it when I ‘m done. I would advise maybe NOT emptying the dirty water container into a sink or toilet because there may be lint, dirt, etc. in there which may clog drain pipes?Bottom line – very impressive results for a great price, and the entire unit and attachments seem to be high quality. It is also REALLY easy to rinse the roller areas and dirty water tank when done. THE ONLY GRIPE I HAVE IS I DID NOT GET ANY ‘SAMPLE” CLEANING SOLUTION WITH THE UNIT DESPITE THE BOX AND INSTUCTIONS SAYING IT COMES IN THE BOX. HAD I NOT ORDERED A CONTAINER OF THE HOOVER OXY SOLUTION WHICH WAS DELEIVERED SAME TIME AS THE MACHINE I WOULD HAVE HAD NO CLEANING SOLUTION AT ALL. Overall, I am really satisfied with this carpet cleaner and I wish I would have bought one years ago.

Much better than I expected, but with a few quirks
First off, I LOVE this machine. I did about 500sq ft the first day it was delivered. While I love his pristine and clean it got my carpets, it does have a few quirks.This is the ideal carpet cleaning machine for apartment-dwellers with pets and carpets. Even if you use a âspot eliminatorâ device like I do, you know eventually you need to clean larger areas of carpet a spot device just canât handle â or you want to clean the entire carpet in your space.The first thing I noticed was how easy it was to assemble the machine once you get the parts out of the box. One caveat: the cap on the solution/water bottle. Push the inside of the cap out BEFORE you position the bottle (upside-down) in the machine â otherwise it will leak. I learned this after doing the wrong thing on the first fill. This quirk should be addressed on the quick set-up card for impulsive people such as myself.The second thing I immediately noticed was how loud this machine is. Itâs louder than most vacuums. I would definitely recommend not using it in the morning or evening â unless you want your neighbors to hate you.Another quirk. The price point means certain âluxuryâ features are gone. If you hear the noise change, that is telling you either the cleaner/water bottle is empty â or the dirty water tank is full. Fill up the cleaner and dump the dirty tank at the same time. There is no light or other mechanism other than the way the machine sounds to tell you this.Last quirk: the dirty water tank. You press the button from behind the machine and slide it out. The first time I put the handle down and was confused since no other machine I had worked this way. My advice: just take a few minutes to read the instructions.Overall, iâm in love with this machine. If you are on a budget and can forgo luxury features, this machine will be for you. If you like tons of features, you might be disappointed by this particular machine.I love that itâs small and easy to store; if you need to clean more than three large rooms, consider a machine with a wider path. Each room took me about three fills and three times emptying the dirty water tank. If you want a larger capacity machine, look for one with larger tanks and a larger cleaning path.But if you donât mind a little extra work, this machine is a solid 4.5 stars for me (too bad I can only give 4 on Amazonâs rating â 5 Stars would be too much considering the loudness and quirks).

I have a senior cat who has taken throwing up her food. I had been using a Bissell Little Green to clean up after her but truthfully its an ordeal to set it up and crawl around on the floor scrubbing at stains. I got lazy and started just doing small clean ups and leaving stains until there were several to do at once. Saturday was stain day and I spent a good hour on my hands and knees. The very next day she was back at it again and I was faced with the worst mess ever! At the end of my rope, I got on Amazon looking at carpet cleaners. This one had good reviews, was less expensive than replacing my carpet or euthanizing my cat so in the cart it went. It arrived the next day and within 10 minutes I was cleaning my carpet standing up!! Only two or three passes over and the stains were gone!! I managed to give my cat a smile for the first time in 24 hours. This thing is fairly quiet and lightweight and easy to handle. But getting the gunk out of it after this clean up? That was going to be the test.The reservoir pops out for easy dumping and rinsing. Whoo hoo! But now what do I do with the powerhead? I did a quick peruse of YouTube reviews and saw a guy complain that you had to take the brush out and disassemble the head to clean it. That seemed like quite the bummer. I went back to the machine and decided I would just try turning it over and rising it with cups of water. Worked like a charm. No need to disassemble!! Power head looks like new. This is the best $100 I have spent in a long time. I highly recommend!
