Fluval Waste Control Biological Cleaner helps reduce aquarium maintenance by reducing waste in gravel, power filters, decorations and other interior aquarium surfaces. Fluval Biological Cleaner rapidly reduces organic waste from uneaten food, fish waste and other decaying material such as plant leaves. It is especially beneficial for goldfish, cichlids, heavily populated aquariums and other aquariums where greater amounts of fish waste are expected. Fluval Biological Cleaner is suitable for fresh and saltwater tanks.

It works
What I like is it works with my Fluval filter and it works fast at digesting waste in my aquarium.

Long-term use is where this shines
Original review: Works like any other common biological cleaner. Cleans surfaces and decor, but not under your gravel! I have wasted money and compared many other products and brands in this category, and tbh the ones made for turtles seem to do a better job. Also, if you poke into the gravel while adding these products, it will help disperse it into the gravel. But the product itself does not automatically clean it. I have plants and good filtration to offset the rise in Ammonia, but for others maybe this product shouldn’t be worth the risk. That is my opinion.Update: After a little more experimentation between other brands, it seems like Fluval does a better job clearing up the water column and sludge/algae on decor. If you stir up the gravel by stabbing it lightly with an object or tool while the product is in the water, it will actually help clean gravel muck!

Works the best of all brands
Does not kill fish if you use it in an existing fully established bio environment. Make sure to stir your gravel some to help it clean the waste under there too.

May have done more harm then good
My goldfish died after the first time I used this, exactly as directed. Had some cloudy water, I was recommended to use a bio cleaner with 25% or so water change. The goldfish stayed in a temp tank for 24 hours while the water cycled. The levels (PH, alkaline, hardness, nitrite/nitrate, etc) were fine, nearly identical to the slightly cloudy water I was trying to fix. Within hours the goldfish sank to bottom of tank and died. I do not know if it was this, but I can say it did not help. Poor little fishies. Goldfish leave a LOT of waste, I was really hoping this would help. Also, I used the Fluval Cycle for the water change, so who knows?

Amazing
I have had a milky could in my fish tank for about a month and I tried everything I could think of to clear the water. I saw this product on Fulvalâs YouTube and thought itâs worth a try. Poured in the required amount for my tank and on the evening of the second day the cloudiness was completely gone! The directions say to use this for maintenance as well, Iâll be doing that for sure. Very very happy with a crystal clear tank again!
