Glad I replaced my filter with a new brand!
Fit perfectly into my Austin Air Health Mate unit. I placed the filter in 1st. Then I linned up BOTH pre-filters, bent them into a circle and nudged them into the tight space around the filter. I began nudging one end a few inches, worked my way around, doubled up the ends and nudged them in. I repeated this as I’d push the filter to the opposite side by a few hairs but just enough to keep nudging a few inches at a time. I was able to get my fingers into the corner spaces to do the most nudging downward till both filters were fully inside the unit and surrounding the new filter. I placed the black filter on top because my unit is black and the tiny air holes tend to show the filter a bit so may as well match. For white or off-white units, place the white prefilter towards the outside of the unit if also using the black prefilter.So, I’ve been running my unit 24-7 for one week with this new label filter. I’m very satisfied as evidence by not needing to dust up fine dust off my black carved out headboard. I live near the freeway so fine particles and dust is an issue even with screens on my windows. Plus I have two awesome dogs who sleep in my bedroom. I suffer from alergies so good air quality is critical, as it should be for everyone. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this filter and super happy to save a lot of money. Brand name filters are overpriced just because a manufacturer has their own models. I’m so glad there’s finally some competition and more people can afford better air quality, for their health and well being.

Weâve had both the austinair brand filter and this one.As a household with 5 dogs and 3 cats a purifier is a must.Our name brand needed replacing after 3 years, not the 5 which I assume is due to all the pets and hard wood flooring throughout the house.This brand has provided the identical filtering as the name brand and for the same amount of time.This purchase was just made but Iâm assuming itâll hold up like our prior purchase here and weâll be good another 3 years.Excellent product and price.

slight factory issue-Bedroom Machine
I have high hopes for this product. It seems almost identical to the one I got from Austin Air except it is less than 1/2 the price. They claim the same lifespan of 5-years. However, I have some concern as the seal is not perfectly round (a negative). I saw other reviews with similar or worse issues with the seals. Of course, this makes me question everything else as well.Interesting: The pre-filters were not quite perfectly sized. I had to cut 2-inches off of the black filter to make it fit properly. This filter also comes with both a white and a black pre-filter. I assume the black one is charcoal. The original came with one, very thick pre-filter that was white. I do not really know why it would require a charcoal pre-filter since the main filter should have loads of charcoal in it…Con: This filter does not include instructions or explanations about the filters.Overall, for the last 36 hours or since I installed it, this has been doing a good job. I will come back and update the review if it fails prior to 4-5 years of use. It sits in my large bedroom and runs 24/7 on medium. The Austin Air filter lasted >5-years and was still doing a decent job. We had also used it to clear out smoke from the kitchen many times if something spilt onto a burner or if we were grilling inside. So this filter has a lot to live up to.

Do NOT cut the prefilter
I see a lot of people are cutting the prefilter. Do NOT do this. The prefilter was intended to go around the square metal frame, not the round internal filter. A quick installation search shows this method.Overall great product for half the price. Will buy again … in 5 years!

Not a perfect fit.
The foam was not thick enough to seal on the top of the filter due to interference with the fan nuts on my 400. I tore the cardboard and gasket from my old filter and used it at the top. Then flipped the filter over to use the thinner gasket on the new at the top. Worked perfect and great seal.

Nice heavey duty filter with layers of filtration
The replacement filter for my Austin Air cleaner fit exactly and was easy to install. It has substantial carbon which make it a bit heavy and why I bought it. My daughter had asma and after we started using the filter it went away.

odor
replaced my original filter after 5 years of use. this filter is a good price, arrived quickly and fit well. But there is an odor that is unacceptable and was not there before changing the filter. I ran it for 60 days and the odor did not stop. I am throwing it in the trash and recommend not making the $170 mistake I made. I got what a paid for and have now ordered an original filter from Austin Air.

perfect
I havn’t used this air cleaner for years cause the filters were too expensive. When we found this company we jumped on it cause the price is so so much better. But you don’t know till you recieve it if it is really quality. Well this is better than the original filter and so effective. We love having it on. I was just Diagnosed with a lung disease and mold and allergins in a big problem for me. We put a sheet over our door and run this in a large bedroom, and the air is so clean, I have no symptoms at all when sleeping or relaxing. Thanks so much. Keep me on your mailing list, if you ever stop selling thru amazon. We need to know how to find you. Thanks

I ordered this filter for my Austin Air PET machine. I hadn’t replaced the filter in a while as the price of the filters was absolutely unreasonable. When I first bought the machine the filters were about $200 now they go for $500!!This filter was a great price and works perfectly! Quality of air has improved amd I definitely noticed a difference. Definitely recommended!!
