    Dust extractor
This was very easy to set up/prepare for use and works very well with hand tools. AI also use it to clean up dust around the shop from other things. Great suction, really fairly quiet and long hose (but not in the way long).

    Powerful but quiet shop vac
I purchased the Fein Turbo 1 after researching quiet shop vacs and shop dust collection systems online. It was one of the few that actually gave a decibel rating. My old shop vac ran at 97 decibels, which required ear protection. The Fein is rated at 67 decibels. My phone-based app reads it at 74 decibels, but that’s still much better than 97! I don’t even feel the need to wear ear protection with it.I find this smaller Fein shop vac to be every bit as powerful as my old, much larger shop vac. The supplied 1 1/4″ vacuum hose chokes it down and makes it a bit quieter, but, to my surprise, I could attach a 2 1/4″ hose end to it without an adapter. The inlet is designed to accept the Fein twist-lock fitting, but the larger hose fittings will friction fit just fine. I’m surprised Fein doesn’t advertise that fact. Maybe it’s because they have a pricey set of accessories they want to sell.If you are hoping to use this unit for liquid pick-up, it will only be efficient for very small spills. When the liquid reaches the shut-off contacts, you will have less than 2 gallons in the tank – far less than the 3.4 gallons advertised. The Turbo 1 uses a fleece bag to catch the vast majority of dust, etc., but it also has an automotive-type pleated paper filter above the bag. The bags are a little pricey but they are much cheaper than paper filters. I use my Turbo 1 with an Oneida Dust Deputy cyclone unit in my basement wood shop. The Dust Deputy catches 99% of the sawdust and the fleece bag catches the rest. Very little dust ever makes it to the paper filter. The Turbo 1 is compact and has an integrated bin on top to hold small accessories or tools. It has worked out great for my application.Update!I have used this Fein shop vac for over a year now, and it has held up very well. Using it in conjunction with my Oneida Dust Deputy, I have collected several 5-gallon buckets of sawdust in that time. The fleece bag eventually collects enough very fine dust that performance is affected, especially if you use it with a palm sander. The bag will last a very long time if you’re only collecting larger sawdust from saws. The paper filter is still the original, and still looks pristine.I love the accessory electrical outlet feature. I can plug in any tool requiring 6 amps or less. When I start the tool, the vac comes on automatically. It stops 15 seconds after I turn the tool off.

    Liking this vacuum!
Lost my Bosch of similar size to a jobsite burglary, and after much research, replaced it with this. While it has slightly lower ratings for such things as suction power and noise level, it is not noticeable on the job, at all. It actually seem like a nice upgrade from the more expensive Bosch, as well. I like the tall handle and accessory storage, the hose and core straps work perfectly, and I’m so glad I got the model without the self-cleaning function. On the Bosch, it was like an irritatingly loud thumping every 60 seconds. It had a shut off button, but when using auto on with my shop tools it was of no use. Got really sick of that. Other things nicer on this Fein are the quality of the cord, hose, and attachments. I’ll eventually upgrade to a better quality anti-static hose, but for now I’m very happy with the one it came with. I wish they would offer a Permanent Fleece Filter Bag for this model, ( had to return the one I ordered ), as it’s a great way to keep the pleated filter clean and fresh. I’ve found paper bags to be a waste of money, ( at least with the Bosch ), as they’d bust a seam long before filling and trash the filter every time. The fleece bags that Fein offers have no zipper, so they are not cost efficient for chip collection. My work around is City Floor Supply Edger Bag with top zipper & Elastic Cuff. With a slight modification to the inflow assembly, it can be installed and removed for emptying. I’ll be using a cyclone separator for my shop tools, but this keeps the pleated filter clean for a long time. Oh, and I only use the expensive HEPA filter if I’m dealing with toxic materials on a jobsite. No sense replacing that one.

Great dust collector and mess remover *2 year updated*
Did a ton of research before buying and I am completely satisfied with this purchase. The cloth style bags work fantastic for saw dust and other messy collection with no cleanup. I have used this just as much to remove toddler debris as I have wood dust. The vacuum is strong, quiet and well designed.*2 year update* This unit has been functioning as the primary dust collection for my hobby wood shop for 2 years. After a short while I began using the dust right cyclone separator from rockler to prolong the bag life. That worked fine, except that the first time the hose clogged the immense suction from this unit collapsed the plastic lid of the rockler cyclone causing it to shatter. I made a wooden replacement Lid and switched to using 2.5 inch dust collection hose. That setup has been working fine for several months. If you are thinking of getting this for woodworking dust collection here is what you need to know: this is as good as any shop vac out there. It is quiet, which is nice, and it sucks a lot of air. The downside of this is basically just the downside of using any shop vac for dust collection. It is always kinda in the way with hoses running around and because of the nature of the motor it draws a lot of amps. If I put a load on my tablesaw while this is also running it will trip the breaker on the 20amp circuit in my garage. After 2 years of owning it I do kinda wish I had just sprung for a wall mounted dust collector which would move more air and draw less amps. At the same time, I have used this many times for cleaning messes and vacuuming out cars. As a vacuum it is a 10/10. As an actual replacement for a woodworking dust collection system it is kinda more like a 6/10.

This thing is WAY better than my old shop vac. Maybe 1/10th of the dust I used to see hit the floor. It runs quiet and the bag keeps dust tight inside. The addition of the outlet on the front for tools is also a nice touch. I highly recommend this!

Best shop vac I’ve had. As long as you don’t really need it to be very large capacity, this one is perfect. Nice balance of size and volume, very powerful. Most importantly it is the quietest I’ve seen.

Great vacuum, high quality, long hose, good suction, and much quieter that regular shop vacuums.

You will need adapters to use your existing accessories (in north america).Otherwise is is just great. Excellent suction and very, very, low noise. The asking price and the not standard nozzle makes it a 4 stars instead of 5 stars.
