Impressed First Time Robo Vac User
I was researching robo vac brands but had no immediate plans to purchase. Folks that I spoke with generally liked theirs but I detected some “Ho-hum” feelings about one dominant brand. In one conversation I heard about Eufy. I read a few reviews and found them to be all 4+. When Cyber Monday gave a great price break I ordered the X8 Pro SES.TLDR – I rate it a 5+ all around.Basic learning curve: the Wi-Fi/ Bluetooth connectivity process it pretty straightforward.First Vacuuming/Mapping session: It is best to watch the robot while she explores her new environment. This will help you identify where to map virtual barriers and “No Go” zones. i.e. under the Christmas Tree to avoid eating the tree skirt; steps or drop down thresholds.Dustbin emptying. The first time or two the unit vacuumed the whole house, returned to base and “emptied” the dust bin. My wife, who is the skeptic in this matter of the mysterious device, opined that it didn’t pick up as well as the upright vac. I opened the vac bag compartment to find the bag was virtually empty. The dust bin, on the other hand was chock full of dog hair from our 3 canine holiday guests. Once I cleared the dog hair clog by hand the unit has been able to self empty as described. For pet owners, I can say that this unit will perform well. It may need a bit of assistance with emptying at the start if there is an abundance of pet hair. Once it is maintaining the floors with a regular schedule, you will be impressed.Suction: Out of the box my unit was set on the lowest suction setting. It did a good job but left a few isolated bits. Once I found how to increase the setting I put it on max suction and checked the box for the smart boost feature. The suction is impressive/robust!!!Self Cleaning Brush – This will greatly reduce the number of times you have to detangle something from the rotating brush. Remember to look for potential snags and tangles before your unit begins to vacuum.Zones and Whole House Cleaning/Mapping. Once I stumbled into the features on the app I have used the zone function more than I might have expected. (Okay, I do like fiddling with a gadget.) I can prioritize high traffic areas. After that I can move to other areas. For our house, it seems that I can finish the entire house more quickly if I manage the zones in succession as opposed to letting it cover the entire house. It is more involved when I do this but I can make sure that the unit has returned home to base before my wife and I return from errands.Scheduling – I have ours set for a whole house cleaning on Sunday mornings while everyone is away. Until we get past the New Year I will have to be more hands on because of our temporarily unpredictable schedule. Also, my wife and I do a lot of work from home which complicates a regular vaccum schedule. I highly recommend hitting the high traffic areas often. It is amazing to see the difference it makes!!!Cleaning under beds and furniture: Wow!!! With the priviso about picking up potential tangles and traps, this vacuum is cleaning parts of our house what would be lucky to receive attention once in three months. How often does anyone say, “It’s time to vacuum under the bed today!” Extention cords present a mild snag potential. Phone charger cords are “Lunch”

Great Suction, Great Mapping, Great Vac!
We had a Shark robovac for 2 years. A couple of months ago it stopped operating properly. No firmware updates or resets would help. With 2 retrievers and a small house, I needed a replacement, and fast. Using the upright once a day just doesnât cut it.After doing loads of research, and also having a great experience with another Eufy product (security cameras), I decided to go for it during the Black Friday sales. It took forever to get here, but today it arrived and it was super easy to set up.It comes really well packaged with simple, easy to follow instructions. Plug in the base unit, place the vac against it, and download the app while you wait for it to charge. Connecting to WiFi is seamless. After you update firmware and it has a full charge, press the âcleanâ button and off it goes. The realtime map it creates is accurate, and you can even watch the wee vac make its laps on the app. The app is heads and tails above the Sharkâs.But the most important part – the cleaning. Suction power is fabulous. It even leaves beautiful track patterns on my area rugs. I canât find any dog hair on my floors, and it left no corner unturned. It emptied twice into the bagged canister (which I love!), and multiple times performed a cleaning of the brush rollers during the vacuuming process.Compared to the Shark it is quiet. Itâs solidly made, and doesnât struggle to return to the base or dock like my Shark did.If the Eufy vac continues to perform this well, Iâll be thrilled. Iâm very impressed with Eufy products. If you are looking for a robovac that does itâs job, look no further.Edited to show the app in action. I love watching it zip around my house. Yes Iâm boring haha.

Auto-return for charging when battery is low does NOT work
The product has a feature called “Auto-return Cleaning” which is described in the eufy app as follows: “When low battery prevents cleaning from being completed, the robot will return to the station and resume cleaning at the previous position after reaching sufficient charge.”Net, it doesn’t actually do this. Two units, both new (and both returned), did not do this. Right out of the box, both units would not do this. This feature is pretty straightforward. And needed. Fishing the vac out from under furniture or whatever because it literally vacuumed itself clean out of battery power (nice work ethic there, but c’mon) is insane. My experience wasn’t because of a bad battery. Both units would vacuum on regular suction for over 100 minutes and, so long as they finished the task, would return home to base. But if the unit had more cleaning to do vs going home to charge, it would keep cleaning until it was completely exhausted, and shut itself down (in orderly fashion — it would announce its low battery and that it was shutting down) wherever it was working when it got down to 1% battery, and wait to be carried by a human to the base for charging.Eufy product support was absolutely no help. They told me to make sure the vacuum cleaner’s sensors and charging contacts were clean (they were, it’s new, duh), that the robot knew where its charging base was (it did, it went back there reliably so long as it had enough battery power to make the trip), and that there were specific minimums of empty space to left, right, and front of the base (there were, I measured them as per the included instructions). At this price point, having to fish the robot out from under a bed or wherever it was in the house when it ran its battery down to 1% is simply not acceptable.Who knows, could be a bug in the 3.6.3 firmware it loaded itself up with out of the box. Or maybe not. But not resolvable.Sad part is I really liked the thing otherwise. Vacuuming power is amazing. Mapping is great. Ability to deal with obstacles in the way is great. Was particularly impressed with its ability to hop onto a fireplace hearth after multiple tries. But having gone through two of them over the battery issue, right out of the box in both cases, this product is a non-option.Do better, eufy. *Sadface*

This is one of the best ones I have bought! I had the earlier version of eufy and that was amazing and this one surpasses all my expectation. Best product ever. It came in good packing also and in good condition.

I have 2 huskies and this was great to keep the hair down to a minimum. It does a perfect job on a regular basis. When my dogs are shedding heavily, it does however leave some long hair behind but overall, it’s a great little vacuum!

I tried these 3 robots:- Eufy Clean X8 Pro.- Eufy Clean X9 Pro.- Ecovacs Deebot X2 OmniThe best overall is Eufy Clean X9 Pro if you need mopping, because it’s the only one in the 3 that does it decently. The best overall is Eufy Clean X8 Pro if you don’t need mopping. The best tech specs is clearly the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni, but the problem is that its navigation and mapping are really bad, clearly the worst of the 3.Eufy Clean X8 Pro has AI Map 2.0 and compared to Eufy Clean X9 Pro (which has AI Map 3.0), its navigation is pretty bad. However it’s so much better than the Ecovacs X2 Omni! Because contrary to the Ecovacs, the X8 Pro doesn’t get lost that easily. It can always finds its way back to the station (unless there’s a new obstacle, like a door that got closed).I returned the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni after a few days. Actually, I used it a few times within the span of 48 hours and it had gotten stuck twice for no acceptable reason. It would just randomly lose its base’s signal and give up on trying to go back, while it knew where everything was on the map (including itself). Absolutely ridiculous! Once, I put it less than a meter away from the base so that it could find its way back, and it still failed. I was really disappointed because on paper it’s supposed to be much better than both the Eufy X8 pro and the X9 pro. It’s like the best of both but in a single machine! When I cleaned it up to return it, I found some paint (from baseboards). I can’t blame it too much since the paint of my baseboards is likely of poor quality: there’s plenty on the head of my regular vacuum’s head. But none of the Eufy clean X8 pro or X9 pro has any paint after more than 10 runs.I’m upset at vacuum robot review websites. They have been very unhelpful. One said that Eufy Clean X9 proand Eufy Clean X8 pro had similar navigation/mapping skills. Very wrong! The X9 is much much better! Object detection is so much better on the X9 pro! Almost everything is better on the X9 pro… Except it doesn’t self-empty the dust bin! I didn’t think it was a big issue at first. But after a few days (about a week) of use I decided I could use the help of the X8 pro. So, yes, I have both. And yes I’m keeping both. Having both X8 Pro and X9 pro is roughly the same cost as having just the X2 Omni. Since I have a bit of space that is perfect for those robots (it’s a space that isn’t used otherwise), having two robots instead of a single one isn’t really an issue. I run both of them daily. The X8 Pro first, and then the X9 pro. By running the X9 pro second, it gives me an idea of how much dust there’s left after the X8 pro has run, since the X9 pro needs to be emptied after each run: lots of carpet, so lots of dust. I’ll stop running both of them daily when the amount of dust in the second run has lowered significantly. Or when I get too tired of taking care of them…I have a second X9 Pro too, on another floor, which mainly has hard floor (and one rug). Yes, that’s 3 robots. I went from zero to 3 in just 10 days…Best investment of 2023!! (Black Friday and Boxing Day have helped.)Much cleaner floors that nobody wanted to or had time and energy to clean…No, it’s not perfect. Far from it.I used my carpet-specialized Shark vacuum after 2 weeks of robot vacuuming, on the carpets, to see how it’d be. Well, it was still quite scary. The quantity of dust in carpets is just crazy. It’s like an unlimited source! But, and that’s a big one: there’s barely any hair now!!!Before the robots, there was long hair everywhere and in large quantities. Now, finally, there’s barely any that doesn’t get sucked by the robots! They’re really good at picking up hairs!!No, it’s not perfect. Far from it! Some of the hair will go where it should go: the dust bin! Some others will get stuck in the sides of the brush… Not hard to remove them, the design is not too bad! But still, it’s not something that happens magically. You need to get your hands dirty. Are robots replacements? No. They’re not good enough to replace you. They’re good enough to help and do most of what needs to be done! I’m so happy that it’ll be much less dusty in 2024 than in previous years, thanks to those robots.I really hope they don’t fall apart too fast. That’s the only concern I have. There are parts that can be replaced. Like, the battery… but also the filters etc.I believe you need a manual vacuum cleaner in order to do the maintenance of a robot vacuum. (If that’s unacceptable to you, maybe you can buy and use dust cans instead.)I wish the tech we have today were available years ago. But that’ll never be more than just wishful thinking. Even the latest software from Ecovacs Deebot is still terrible. No, I don’t have shares of Eufy/Anker. Maybe I should get some…I wanted to love the Ecovacs and return the Eufy X9 pro. The opposite happened. I’m happy I ordered both at the same time and got to try them at the same time, so I could compare them on the spot.I have a hard time understanding people who are OK with robots getting stuck all the time…Hope it helps.
