Everything Dreame makes is impressive!
LiDar on a robot vac/mop at this price point? I know what you’re thinking, and yes there are a few cheap options that claim to have LiDar mapping as well, but for most of them it is even actually functional. Meanwhile, when a Dreame LiDar vac maps your house, it’s ACCURATE. Well, at least from the perspective of something a few inches tall and right on the ground. Lol. My point is that this mapping tech is usually only operational and available on units upwards of $700, But not only is it included here it works extremely well. I typically recommend deep cleaning your house before using a smart robot vacuum cleaner on a regular schedule to do the maintenance, but with this one you don’t even necessarily need to. Sure, it may have to empty itself a few times, but it can do that initial clean itself and does a really good job. The mopping isn’t exactly a tough scrubbing or anything, but I’ve previously reviewed some of their higher end models where the mopping most certainly is a comprehensive correct cleaning of the floor, and the mopping on this particular system will still keep your floor shiny and clean and free of little bits of tracked in mud and grime from outdoors. It’s got a long battery life compared to other vacuums in its price point, it can do the entire downstairs of my house on a single charge, and while that isn’t a lot of area, some more expensive competitors had trouble doing the same thing. It’s got enough suction power to get the dirt off the floor. I won’t say it’s matched with like a Dyson upright vacuum, but realistically a lot of the vacuums I’ve had are overpowered for what would normally be considered clean. This gets the dirt off the floor and out of the cracks, does a good job of picking up dog hair and dust, And is a great value for the money. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more time-saving device at a lower price point than this one. Sure, there are cheaper machines, but you’ll spend just as much time cleaning them out and detangling them as you would have spent cleaning your house yourself. This one actually does the job right.

1st time robot vacuum user with low expectations
This is the first time that I’ve used a robot vacuum before, and I had very low expectations. How was it going to map my home? Would it have enough sucking power to maintain clean floors if I ran it daily? How often will I have to unload it? So on, and so on.So I have a home with 2 adults, 1 child, and a mid sized double coated dog who LOVES to shed. We have both hard surfaces and carpet of varying heights. Mapping the 1600 square ft took about 20 mins, and it was a “rough” map as I left everything on the floor that would normally be there. Chairs, dog toys, kids toys, etc. Reviewing the manual it does recommend to do a little “prep work” prior to the mapping to make this smoother. The app is easy to navigate around. Once mapped, you can easily merge or split rooms. You can set each room with a specific set of vacuuming instructions…. 3 different levels of suction, mop or vac or both, and how many times you want each square foot of that room passed over, 1-3 times. The way I have mine set up is to do high suction with 3 passes on the carpeted areas, and light suction with a single pass on the hard surfaces. This takes the vacuum roughly 80 minutes to complete, and nearly 70% of the battery charge.What I don’t like…So far this is NOT a replacement for a good old fashioned 12v corded vacuum. On the carpeted areas where the dog likes to lay, I had the D9 go over those carpets over a dozen times. Then I went over it one more time with the 12v vacuum, and pulled out so much more dog fur that was embedded. Concern 2, at no point have I received any indication that the small collector bin was full. Running a vac on a full bin is not only pointless, but also leads to premature motor wear. Concern 3, this thing does “weird” things every once in a while where it’ll sit in a corner doing semi-circles as if it’s stuck next to an obstacle but nothing is there.What I Like…The mapping function works well, and is constantly being updated with each pass that the D9 makes in the vicinity of the map. If you add/remove an obstacle, the D9 will remap that square footage. Another thing that I like is the flexibility that I have with customize the size of each room, and how exactly I want that room to be cleaned. I think in my household the D9 will do a great job at daily maintenance of a deeper cleaning performed by my 12v vac which I’ll only have to do monthly or every 2 weeks.At this price point I’d say it’s a good value.

Works well
This vacuum was fairly easy to set up, it works well and I figured out how to use the app to schedule cleanings as I was having a difficult time with remembering to start it when I went to work. I like that I can see where the robot is when I am not home and it is cleaning. I have a husky and it has no problem cleaning up his fur! I do wish the canister was slightly larger but I just have to remember to empty it every day.

Dreame does it again!
I like Dreame, I also have another of their product and have grown to like the brand. I got the dreame D9 Max gen 2 and it has worked out great! The Dreame D9 Max Gen 2 is a solid robot vacuum and mop combo. It’s got strong suction, smart navigation, and some useful features. The mopping function is decent but still need some elbow grease on some tough stains, overall, it is a good choice for maintaining a clean home.
