Perfect for removing large quantities of water, or to have on hand for an emergency!
This external DeWalt pump for a shop vac, fits perfectly with the included adapters to my DeWalt DXV08SA Wet/Dry shop vac. You simply remove the cap at the bottom of the vac, screw on the correct fitting adapter, and then there are splines in the adapter that correspond with the pump mechanism, so that you can ensure your pump is sitting horizontally. Insert the pump, tighten down the cap and then you are ready to connect a hose. Once you have a hose connected you can start using the vacuum as a source to suck up the water you may have, WIITHOUT the vacuum getting full of water and having to empty it every couple of minutes! Simply plug in the external pump and turn it on, and you will see that it then pumps the water away from the vacuum and out of the hose you attached to the external vac. That way the vacuum is purely sucking up the water and the external pump is expelling it away from the vacuum and out to wherever you place the hose, be it down a drain, or out into a gutter or whatever scenario you may be faced with. I decided to grab this as a precautionary measure, for a few reasons:1) When I moved into my house, when hooking up the washing machine, the drain house jumped out of the receptical in the wall and dumped all of the water in the washing machine onto the floor of the laundry room. We had to move fast and used almost all of the towels in the house, using a pump like this would have made quick work of that situation.2) My neighbors had a pipe burst in their upstairs bathroom, and it ended up leaking while they were out of town and flooded their whole downstairs. If they had of had a pump like this, they may have been able to save their flooring from extensive damage, so having witnessed that scenario, having this pump on hand is going to be invaluable.3) Here in Texas, we get a lot of really heavy downpours that really overwhelms the drainage around the home, even after having french drains installed. There are several times we’ve had standing water down both sides of the house which a breeding ground for mosquitos. Having the option to pump that water a way quickly is going to be really helpful.I have tested those pump out with a bucket of water and it really does expel that water really, really quickly! So glad I picked this up and you will be too! Another great DeWalt product and really really handy!

Works Well, Turns Shop Vac Into a Utility Pump
While this is great to have if you are ever using your shop vac for bulk water removal, it usually makes more sense to just keep a utility pump on hand. There are a few situations where a shop vac with this attachment would be better than a utility pump, such as removing water from hard to reach locations, sucking water out of pipes, selectively removing water, or sucking up water that has a lot of debris in it.This small pump mounts to the front of a shop vac, it works with most major brands. It fit my DeWalt shop van and also my Ridgid shop vac perfectly. Just open the valve that is normally used to drain the shop vac tank, and this pump will push the water through a connected hose, usually to a drain or outside. While this is very useful in certain niche scenarios, consider if a utility pump may be better suited for your needs before buying.

    Get one of these!
How did I not know about these? Did they always exist? One of the worst nights of my life was spent vacuuming out a basement that had taken on about 2 inches of water. I wish I had one of these then!Seriously, these should be on display next to every shop vac and Amazon should have them shown in their “bought together” area with shop vacs. It’s such a simple concept. Vacuum up the water with your shop vac and then, instead of carrying your incredibly large, heavy, and unwieldy “bucket” of dirty water to wherever you have to dump it (in my case up a half flight of stairs to the outside), you simply turn on the pump and it pumps it as far away as you have garden hose to run.I’m sure there are limits to how far or high this thing will actually pump but in my test it got from my basement, up to a window about 5 feet off the ground, and then about 20 feet from my house. It comes with several adapters, one of which fit my Rigid shop vac and the other fit my Craftsman shop vac (40 years old but it still works). If you have a shop vac you want to buy one of these. Some day you will be so thankful you did!

Quick and Easy Vacuum Pump for Wet Jobs
This DEWALT wet/dry vac pump has been a practical tool for clearing out liquids from our shop vac. While it doesn’t handle solids, it moves water efficiently through a hose, making cleanup faster and easier. It’s easy to attach and use, and the 60-foot pump lift provides plenty of reach for larger jobs. This pump has saved time on tasks where manually emptying the vacuum would have been a hassle. For anyone dealing with liquid cleanup, it’s a simple and effective solution.

It’s a pump that goes to a wet vac. It’s great to have it just in case you need it. It is an external pump so that always helps. It’s pretty compact and gets the job done.

Game changer for a wet basement
I live in a house that is over 100 years old so when it rains really hard my basement floods, normally I get out my DeWalt shop vac, suck up until full then unclip everything, lift the heavy bucket to my wash tube and then rinse and repeat, it’s terrible but today was the first time since I got this that it rained hard and wow how did I not know about this before. I was able to attach this and then run a hose straight to my wash tube while using the shop vac so I never had to stop, never had to unclip and lift…the job took me a few minutes vs. nearly and hour like it normally does. The quality of this part is outstanding given its DeWalt and it had zero issues pushing the water out into the wash tub and I’m sure it could have pushed it up at least a floor if it needed to.Easy five star product.
