Small, convenient and it really sucks! And blows! too
I have the old style DEWALT 18v 1/2 gallon, the newer 20v 2 gallon , the DWV-012 extractor, and finally the 10 gallon, DXV-10p. Aside from price i was really look for a smaller vacuum more for wet than dry, with bottom drain and quiet. I could not be more pleased with this vacuum.I think i paid $159 a couple of years ago for the 10 gallon vac, and typically dedicate that to HEPA filters and mostly drywall or other fine dust. The dust extractor is reserved for sawdust. I really feel like the 9 gallon is the perfect vacuum. It’s small enough to lug around one handed, but large enough to pick up a significant amount of liquid. Even better, if you have a big mess the outlet at the bottom allows easy discharge with a hose.My next biggest pet peeve with shop vacs is the noise. I had 10+ year old 16 gallon and 4 1/2 gallon shop vac that made me essentially deaf when it was running. All the DEWALT vacuums improve on those those older vacuums. This vacuum is perhaps the least annoying sound and perhaps the quietest – just my opinion. If i were only going to have one shop vac and HEPA filtration was not important, I believe this vacuum would be my choice as it has the biggest bang for the buck. One other plus to the DEWALT vacs is the carrying pouch that mounts to the frame. I really have found that i don’t use it for attachments, but instead for rags or paper towels, cleaning supplies or other tools i might use while i am using the vacuum. The other advantage for me is that all of the DEWALT vacuums use common tools. I now have so many interchangeable pieces and parts that i can pretty much reach anything – cobwebs in 12 ft ceilings or reaching under or through most obstructions.EDIT: 6 months in and after extensive use of this vacuum, I may like it even more. I have been re insulating ducts where the fiberglass had just disintegrated. I have sucked up large amounts of material in tight cramped quarters. Under a house, I would have thought a shop vac would drive me crazy after running for hours – but it hasn’t. What’s more I have gotten this vacuum into some really tight spots. I also have used the blower function and in tight spots, I have to say it provides a controlled sweeping. My flexvolt blower basically blew things from one side of the house to other and stirred up dust, I sawed a handle off a broom and used that until I came up with the shop vac. It actually may blow as much as it sucks…Remained convinced for one shop vac households, this is the optimum vacuum.

    Suck-o-rama!
This replaced another manufacturer’s vacuum, a top-heavy monster that had the incredibly irritating tendency to fall over. This design is quite a step up.The inaugural test was a total gross-out. It involved a six-inch shower drain jammed with hardened (though unused) cat litter. (Don’t ask.) I had to bust up the litter with a long, thin metal rod, place the end of the hose on the drain, then seal the uncovered portion of the drain with my hands to maximize suction. (The drain grate, by the way, is 100 years old. Those screws are set for life, so there was no removing it.) Back to our story: It took a half-hour, but the drain is now clear — and litter had been packed 12 inches deep to a bend. So that’s the level of suction we’re talking about. The second test was on a rarely used second-floor screened porch that had been abused by 100 years of sycamore tree junk. In the past you couldn’t remove rice-size tree seeds from the screening. UNTIL NOW. God in his infinite wisdom took that SOB in a wind storm two months ago, inspiring me to clean that damn porch. This vac cleared all the screens of seeds — the last step that will allow us to actually use this space. It also picked up quite a few stray sycamore leaves and bark without clogging or losing suction. Here are my fave features:– Give the hose a yank and the tank comes toward you. That is: It doesn’t fall over like sad R2D2.– The casters are heavy, sturdy, non-marring and secured with self-tapping screws.– The accessories bag. God bless this thing. My old unit had accessories storage on the tank, and they popped out whenever the thing fell over — which was pretty much on every use. The bag is deep and wide, designed to hold more accessories than it came with. It’s very handy for keeping the instructions with the machine. I appreciate having extra space to stow an extension cord and spare paper bags. It’s also deep enough to accommodate the two extension wands.– Relatively quiet. My hearing is canine-like, and loud noise literally hurts. I don’t need earplugs with this thing. I’ll use them anyway, but I don’t NEED them.– The floor attachment has brush bristles. My old vac had just hard plastic, which scratched and made a terrible screeching noise.– A sturdy rubber keeper holds the hose in place for storage. The power cord wraps nicely around the carry handle.– Nine gallons is a lot of wet-dry vac and frankly more than I need. But I had to get the cat litter out of that drain, and only the bigger models had the kind of horsepower to tackle that job. It’s a big awkward getting the tank up and down the stairs but the carry handle is sturdy and well-designed. Also, the tank gives the heft, I suspect, that keeps the unit from falling over.– Hoping that I never run into a water emergency, but it’s good to know that a plug at the bottom allows easy drainage.

Great vacuum, strong and very durable! Will last a lifetime!
I absolutely love my new DeWalt vacuum! There’s is nothing at all I dont like about it! It maybe on the loud side for some but not to me and those in my household. I actually get excited to vacuum now! It is awesome, I feel unstoppable with it! It is very durable and works better than a vacuum with spinning bristles! If Something accidentally gets sucked up, no worries just open her up and get it out! No more stopping before I’m done to clean out the bristles and figuring out what the heck I sucked up that stopped my progress and burned out the belt, which happened way too frequently with my kirby! I can vacuum nonstop worry free! There are many perks to this vacuum,indoor/outdor,wet/dry,sucks/blows,and a nice set of attachments! It is large but that is something I appreciate about it there is plenty of room for big jobs,I just store it in my laundry room! I’m a small girl just over 100lbs and I can easily carry it to and from different rooms and up and downstairs. I cut hair as well and it is perfect for cleaning up hair, unlike a normal vacuum with bristles. Also fantastic for cleaning out your vehicle!

It beats any shopvac I’ve had before. My first job was to pick up ceramic and grout piece after removing an old floor. Wow! Sucked everything right in. Big chunks were lifted right off the floor and in they went. Very impressed with that one. The weels roll very smooth too. Couldn’t ask for better. Great product that i recommend

Did a woman design this!? Ha! Way to go DeWalt! This shop vac is amazing, and in my opinion, it’s better than all the rest simply because it has a carrying bag right on it for all the attachments (with room still for an extension cord or supplies you may have) and it has a handle which is where the cord wraps around, and the rubber thing to secure the hose. I love this thing! I bought an extra extension wand (from another seller on Amazon) and it fits perfectly so now it’s a normal wand height so it’s easier on my back. The suction is great, just as one would expect. I’m super happy with this purchase and can definitely recommend! If I do have any issues after a handful of times using it, I will update my review. I was contemplating between this 9 galon and the 6 galon. I only need the 6 galon but I really wanted the added carrying bag and the bigger floor nozzle, and now that it’s all said and done, I am very happy with my decision!!

Hi suction power, easy to clean, simple for messy pickups. I bought for my shop & happen to have standing water that wasn’t drying. Two tankfuls were sucked up in minutes. Cleaning & drying for a couple of hours and it sucked up the wood detritus without clogging or blowing chaff out the back. Very impressed! With the wheels it’s a little higher & wider than I’d have liked and the electrical cord is too short but these are nits. Great value & excellent performance.

  7. happy customer

Love this vac .I purchased for inside my home .No other vac has worked as well .I always have problems with clogged hoses but not with this guy .1 dog , two cats and 4 grandchildren that visit often are no match for this guy , even sucks up crayons , broken small toys and bits left over from the dogs chewing ie. stuffing and rubber that are left around . Bulky for the house and I use an extension cord as the one on it is not as long as I liked but worth it .Would not recommend to be carried up stairs.
