Compact wet/dry vac – much quieter than larger shop vacs but also less powerful
This is a nice compact wet/dry vacuum, and a good deal if you can get it on sale (listed for $80 on Amazon when I picked it up). This is 4 HP vacuum makes about the same amount of noise as my old Kenmore canister vacuum, MUCH less noise than my other higher power shop vac. The trade off for less noise and smaller volume is lower suction. This vacuumâs cleaning power is still great, but my other vac routinely lifts carpets or gets so suction-stuck to the floor that I need to shut if off to dislodge it.The compact side of this shop vac make it ideal to move around or use to clean out a boat, car, garage, or basement. It has a 7-foot flexible hose and a 3-foot two section hard wand/hose, to which you can attach one of several attachments. It also includes an adapter to attach it to DeWalt power tools, a sponge filter to use in when applications, and a paper vacuum bag to use with fine dust. The power cord wraps well around the top handle but is a bit short (less than 8 feet), so pack an extension cord when you use this.Be warned that when you open the vacuum to empty it, the filter will be absolutely filled with dirt, dust, and debris. Clean out the filter first over a garbage can before dumping the main tub, instead of putting it on the ground to dump the main tub. I did the latter and had a bug mess of debris from the filter to vaccum up again – lesson learned!!Well built, great utility, great attachments, and from a great brand. Recommended!!

Good suction, rolls easily, but..
Okay, so I have many DeWalt tools, from chop saws to impact drivers, and Iâm a big fan. And as expected, I do like this vacuum. But itâs far from perfect, and in my opinion, a little disappointing coming from what used to be such a stellar brand. Iâll list what I consider to be the pros, and then the negatives.*** The Good ***+ Excellent suction. The 4 HP motor creates far more suction than my ancient Rid&id 6 gal shop vac, which is 2.5 HP.+ Good carrying handle, which doubles as a cord storage area. Just wind the cord around the handle.+ Good latches. As long as you have the top rotated to one of the two possible positions, it locks like an alligator. Itâll lock anywhere, but if the latches donât line up with the two bulged out places, itâll come apart on you. (There’s only one âcorrectâ position.)+ Good hose connector to the main poly bottom, as well as the exhaust/blower. That latches in securely, and is easy to get out by pushing down a locking clip.+ Excellent caster wheels. The wheels are rubber instead of hard plastic, which makes it almost silent when rolling. The black caster assemblies can be slipped on and off, or you can lock them down with a single Phillips screw (included).+ Comes with all attachments and accessories. You get a floor tool, a smaller car vac tool, a crevice tool, a mesh bag, a paper vacuum bag, and you even get a DeWalt tool adapter to connect the hose to any DeWalt tool for suction.*** The Bad ***- It only comes with two short extensions for the floor tool. Together, they are only 33.5â long, and thatâs not enough to keep an average-sized male from hunching over. I wish they were each another 6 inches longer.- The hose is as bad as most other shop vacs. And worse because it only swivels on the end that plugs into the vacuum; the user end does not swivel. Itâs made of the same fairly hard plastic as other shop vacs.- There is zero accessory storage on the vac. Zero. Come on DeWalt, wake up.- There is no good way to store the hose. That silly rubber clip works for one section of hose, but where the hose lands when wrapped around the vac is nowhere near the end. Poorly designed there.- Itâs a full 22â tall with the casters on it. Thatâs just about an inch and a half too tall to be able to store it where my old one lived. I know thatâs a personal issue, but itâs annoying.- Thereâs no drain on it. Youâll have to remove the top and dump it. Not a big deal, but a plastic petcock costs about 20 cents, and would be very handy for liquids.*** Bottom Line ***This is a good shop vac, and worth the money, but it could be so much better. I hope this helps.
