Another great tool product from DeWalt
An excellent little portable vacuum with plenty of power and versatility. I have used it on top of ladders, on the floor, cleaning window screens and in those hard to reach areas of the closets. Works on the power cord or the battery and adaptors from my house vacuum cleaner work on this hose. Very happy with the purchase.

It SUCKS, But In A Good Way! Great Portable Vacuum. (UPDATE)
I just recently took on a job driving a school bus and if you are a school bus driver, you understand how much of a pain in the you know what it is to sweep in between the seats to get the dirt out and all other kinds of things that children drop on the floor of the bus. I bought this vacuum because I have already invested into the DeWalt 20V Max tool line and have a few of those batteries around to run my tools plus I needed a vacuum that would be much stronger than your usual big box brand store type dust buster. This vacuum does fit the bill and does the job nicely. It has strong suction for a battery powered vacuum which supprised me, even to the point where it is almost as strong as my 5 gal shop vac that I have in my work shop. It comes with on board tools that you would most commonly use on a shop vac and this vac with the cord option weighs in at just over 9 pounds. The only cons that I am finding with this vacuum which are not many…- It does not come with any extension wands to allow you to reach into that hard to reach areas like what a school bus would have but you can get generic extensions at your local Lowes or Home Depot.- On a 5Ah 20v Max battery, it will run about 20 minutes only. BUT will run off a 120V power inverter that is capable of supplying over 300W. (If you have the corded option with this vacuum)- Lastly, This vacuum from what I have researched is not packaged with a battery and a charger if you want to use it in the battery mode. It will require you to purchase a battery and a charger seperatly wich can be an additional $150.00 or more, depending on the size battery you get.I have this vacuum now for some time and it continues to work flawlessly! I have purchased the 60V Flex Volt Batteries to use on not only this vacuum even though it will only draw 20V. BUT IT IS 20V at 9Ah, but other DeWalt tools that I have and this vac will run for a VERY LONG TIME before needing to charge the battery. I am finding that when I need to do small vacuum jobs around my house, I pass up my dust buster that I have and use this vacuum.

    Great Portable Shop Vac
This shop vac isn’t quite as powerful as a standard one, but given it’s portability, it is a fair trade. Very simple tool with battery or plug-in option. Excellent for hard to reach places like the car, or in my case, the air duct return in my apartment. Only comes with 2 attachments, but the washable HEPA filter is another nice feature. Simple, lightweight, and well-designed. The power cord could be a bit longer though.

Good vac, dual fuel, decent suction
I do HVAC for a living, so in winter months I spend about 5 to 8 hours a day doing routine maintenance on Furnaces and Boilers. Part of the job is vacuuming out the equipment. I had a Stinger Vacuum for the job for years. But I always needed to carry around a 20 foot extension cord because there’s not always an outlet within 7 feet of the equipment. This vacuum is a game changer. After I bought one most of my work mates bought one as well. I purchased with (2) 5 amp hour batteries. One battery easily gets me through one day, usually 2 or more days. I’d guess probably around an hour or so use on one 5 amp hour battery.I like that the crevice tool stores in the handle. I like being about to ug it in to conserve battery when I can.The suction power, even while plugged in, doesn’t match the Stinger I had. It’s good enough for the job however, to get rust out of boilers, clean out burners, clear cobwebs and dirt and dust from blower motor compartments. It works great in my RV and my truck while cleaning. The filter is easy as pie to remove and clean, and is significantly more durable than the bag style filter that was on the Stinger.I’ve had this vac for nearly 2 years with daily use and it does the job. I would absolutely buy it again and I will when this one buys the farm. One thing, it would be epic if it charged the battery while plugged in but I still love the thing.

Fix for low suction! READ ME!
This little vacuum is a powerhouse. I love it. I was worried, because so many people stated the suction dropped to almost nothing so early on. Well, I experienced that as well, and I know why and how to fix it.Like many who have review this, I used the vacuum to get dry stuff, then later I sucked up an entire tank of water from my toilet so I could reseat it. What I experienced afterward greatly worried me. The suction was almost nil. I emptied the resevoir, then I hosed off the filter and even lightly scrubbed the filter in order to get most of the gunk off of it. It looked like new by the time I was done. Still, very low suction.HERE’S WHAT GAVE ME HOPE, THOUGH. When I took the filter OFF and turned on the vacuum, FULL SUCTION. So, I ordered a new filter here, from Amazon, and BAM…full suction once again. Problem solved, crisis averted. If you’ve used the vacuum as a wet vac, then your filter is probably clogged…even if you think IT AIN’T. Check this by removing the filter and turning the unit on. If I’m right, buy a new filter and revise your comment and rating here. This DeWalt cordless vacuum is a GODSEND. It’s awesome. I can’t rate it highly enough. Great suction, Great flexibility. My life is transformed.

In consideration that some have found the suction performance of this vacuum limited, I hesitated from buying this vacuum for over a year hoping that DeWalt would bring out a newer version that has more power. I’m passionate about DeWalt tools and I have allot of 20V-Max tools and batteries so despite the reviews presented herein, when my old 5 gal shop vacuum started to “grind to a halt” I decided to throw caution to the wind and buy it. To be clear, this is NOT a “shop vacuum” and to compare with one would be unfair. Suction power from even a cheap 5 gal conventional vacuum lays waste to this unit. Even small corded shop vacuums use 5 A motors and this one has a 2.6 A motor (based on the label) so it has half the power. The suction is good and usable but not truly powerful. If you have a big mess to clean up, need to root-out hairs from a carpet, or you want to clean your car or truck get something else. Also, like cheap vacuums (all types), the suction air that passes through the fan also cools the motor so don’t use this for cleaning up fine dust like drywall/concrete/talc/flour/rock, etc. Used this way, the filter will plug up in short order and will burn out the motor so if you have to tackle this get something else.Below are the merits of this unit and the rationale I have for scoring five stars:1. Construction quality – Well built as evidenced by a neoprene rubber gasket sealing the bottom to the top. This optimizes suction and prevents leaks if collecting water. The on/off switch “clacks” with authority just like the side clamps for the bottom. Feels consistent with DeWalt quality.2. Versatility – Go cordless or corded when the battery goes flat. The unit switches almost seamlessly between battery or 120V. Note however, while on 120 V, there is a noticeable loss of power. I don’t know exactly why but I suspect that there is just one 18V DC motor that gets power from either the battery directly or through a AC/DC rectifier where there may be some power losses in that circuitry on its way to the motor. Works with standard 1 1/4 in vacuum hose attachments and can be used as a blower (for small jobs).3. Wet or dry applications – This unit does either and when filled with water, a ball shuts off the air flow to the fan. The owner’s manual recommends that the filter remain in place at all times, even when vacuuming water as it is made of plastic. The filter is fine enough to use as a backup to a cannister or upright vacuum for cleanup of ordinary house dust so it won’t recirculate this dust and can be washed easily. You can’t do that with a shop vacuum unless a paper filter and bag are installed.4. Capacity – With 2 gal capacity and a micro-screen filter cartridge, this vacuum makes a better choice than a hand-held vacuum as it has more suction power so even with a 2 A-Hr battery, there’s enough time and power to clean up lint, dust and crumbs under the whole couch or fridge. You can even take this camping with you in case you need to clean up sand from the inside the tent or RV.5. Noise – Quiet enough to use as an alternative to a cannister vacuum if you need suction to clean out the dust from inside computers and other electronics.6. After reading some mixed reviews, I decided to give this a go anyway. Been using for about a month now during a travel trailer renovation on farm with no power on site. The ability to use the batteries from my other Dewalt tools is great. Battery life is very good, I have 2 so can get lots of cleaning done. The power of the vacuum is adequate – certainly not a 120v replacement, but it does pretty well, enough to make a difference in the ease of cleanup so I think it has been a worthwhile purchase for sure. Emptying is super easy, hose stores and is long enough, unit is light and small enough. Would be nice to have a highpower mode and crevice tool.
