works great to stop the exhaust from kicking up dust. this absolutely should be standard on all shop vacs, just stupid that it isn’t

Works well to muffle/diffuse the exhaust, while lowering the noise a few decibels.
This is only meant to muffle the exhaust port. Will it make the vacuum quieter, yes, a little, but not much. The motor is what is loud and this will not change that. This is meant to diffuse the exhaust so that it does not blow everywhere. It works exceptionally well for that purpose. I am very pleased with this product. If you buy this for the purpose of quieter operation, you will likely be disappointed. However, if you buy it so the exhaust doesn’t blow dirt around while you work, you will be pleased while also getting the benefit of making the machine a few decibels quieter.

I had to cut off the clip that locked it on to the unit of my wet dry vac and it is better with it on worked good on my Ridged vac too.

This muffler don’t cut down the noise it dose something better It kills the exhaust wind to nothing, and filters the air at the same time. I highly recommend this to anyone with a shop vac it dose what it suppose to do and more

I needed this muffler/diffuser to disperse the high volume of air coming from the Craftsman Shop Vac air discharge port. It fit perfectly with no modification.

To call it a muffler is a bit of an exageration.
It does diffuse the exhaust, but to call it a muffler is a bit much. It does cut down a bit on the super high frequency noise, but you still need to wear ear protection when attached to a shop vacuum.

I saw this featured in a YouTube video to reduce the noise of a shop vac AND diffuse the blowing action from the blower port of the shop vac. The blower port had always been a frustration for me in my woodworking shop because it blew all the fine dust particles everywhere. This adaptor diffuses the blast of exhaust air so it partially eliminates the problem AND make the shop vac a little quieter, too!
