Excellent Must-Have Product for My Hair Type
I purchased this product to replace a Conair Hot Curling unit that was probably 10 years old. Let me be clear that the reason that the old product lasted so long was that I rarely used it until about a year or two ago-mainly because I wasn’t using it properly and my hair was longer and styled differently. My hair is now just shoulder length, in lots of layers. My hair is very fine and if left to air dry will have some natural waves to it. It is color treated and very “fly away”.I use this product as follows: After towel drying hair, I always use a leave-in product (I have used very expensive variations and I am happy to report that my favorite it currently a bargain, Loreal EverPure Smooth Frizz-Free Serum). Then I dry my hair on the lowest heat setting (yes, it takes a little longer but it makes a big difference) with my regular hair dryer and a round boar bristle brush. Important: do not dry completely-ends should be dry but hair should still feel very slightly damp near your scalp. I really do not style my hair at all at this stage with the brush it’s just that the boar bristles will mimimize breakage while creating lift when brushing the roots up and away from the scalp. Now I am ready for the Conair 1.5. I like the barrel with the shorter bristles, it seems to work better with fine hair. THIS product will NOT make your hair curly NOR do you want to try and dry your hair with it. This product will give you volume and smoothness with ends curled under or up. I use only the high heat setting because it is not very hot. Again, my hair is just shoulder length, so I just brush a section of hair from the roots to the ends and roll it half to two thirds the way up, hold it for ten seconds and unroll. I don’t “pull the brush” through. If you want a very smooth look, after finishing each section, lightly brush and use a light hair spray. If you want a more “unkempt” effect, after styling each section, allow hair to cool and style with your fingers, then spray. If you want curlier hair, keep your hair dryer handy. After the “10 second curl” turn the Conair off while your hair is still “rolled up” and blow cool air directly onto the barrel from your dryer for a few seconds until hair is cooled then unroll.I also purchased the Conair BC171CS Ceramic Ionic Hot Air Brush 1.25 Conair BC171CS Ceramic Ionic Hot Air Brush, Black, 1.25 Inch inch at the same time I purchased this one. As I mentioned, my product that died was very old and I wasn’t sure which one would work best for me so I just went for both of them.I do not like 1.25 inch for myself nearly as much because: It seems to get too hot, even on the lower setting. My hair is color treated and too fine for this much heat. If you try it, you may want your hair more damp. I also do not like the size of the barrel. I have small hands and it is very unwieldy. It will “curl” your hair to a greater degree and may work well for certain hair types. I did not send it back but would recommend with caution. When making this purchase on Amazon, I noted that one reviewer raved about the difference in the “ionic” feature. I noticed zero differnce, perhaps because the higher heat of this unit cancelled out any “ionic” benefit for my hair type. If I had it to do over, I would have ordered two of the 1.5 and saved one of them until the one I am currently using dies. I love it and highly recommend for my hair type.

    Best smoothing tool so far
I have really difficult hair. It’s fine in front and coarse in back, wavy in some places, super curly in others. It’s thick. There’s a lot of it.With this? It’s dried and smooth within 45 minutes.I would not be able to hold a brush and a dryer for as long as it would take to dry my hair.Blowing out my hair wouldn’t be possible without this.I wish it had tourmaline or ceramic coating but I use damage control products instead.Seriously. I have legit had one of these on hand for 22 years. I’ve lost several over time to over-use, normal wear and tear, and once, a duff item.I try to always keep a backup on hand bc I would need time to find another as good as this. The Dyson Airwrap looks incredible and if it w didn’t come with a shocking price tag, I’d pick one up.This one? The price can’t be beat.I’ve tried various brands here and abroad, but only a few are offered in this extra large barrel size.Years ago, in the UK, I picked up a Vidal Sassoon one – same size barrel! – but it takes longer to dry. Just doesn’t have the same oomph. My “travel” rating comes into the picture – despite being told it was okay to use this in a British outlet, with the voltage adjusted, and it worked beautifully – until it went *POP* very loudly and refused to start up again… hence the need for the Vidal Sassoon model. It’s a good device that does a good job consistently, at a good price. ✔️

Been using daily for 10+ years
I love and live by this tool. I have been using this since I was in junior high and I am now 27. I have a layered hair cut, and this gives me he right amount of curl in towards the face that I have always loved. It smoothes my hair, gives it bounce and body, and gives me the layered around my face look. I love it. It makes my hair look so much better than any old hair dryer and brush combo could. I have always gotten compliments on my hair, and I always attribute it to this hair tool. It is my beauty secret, if you will. It is something I will never be without. I use it daily and my hair is still healthy, so I believe it is less damaging than a normal curler. I can’t live without it.I took off a star because these things do not last long at all. Some break within 2 months, some last almost a year. I’ve been using these for so long and I have gone through a tone. However, I have yet to find a product that compares with my hair, and I can usually pick one up for fifteen to twenty dollars, so I feel it is well worth the bargain.I should also point out that I only always use the stiff bristled brush that comes with it. It combs out all the tangles and locks them that way, so it leaves the hair great looking all day.I also do find that after the initial curling that my hair relaxes a tiny bit through out the day, but that just makes the curl and body look more natural.I have also had my hair all different lengths from hitting just at my shoulder to down the middle of my back and have always used this – no matter then length, it always smoothes and pefects. It’s a wonderful tool, even if it doesn’t last long. Although, it might not last because I use it almomst daily! Also, I would like to point out, I often switch between different types of shampoo/conditioner, from Pantene, Tresemee, Pureology, Biolage…and no matter which type I use, I always get the same results…from cheap to expensive.Give it a shot for salon perfect hair!

I ordered multiple hot air brushes, not realizing the different sizes in barrels. I found other too cumbersome to use as some of the barrels were as large as my head, some were too heavy to even use and manipulate. This Conair Hot Air Brush comes with two different size barrels to use. It has adjustable heat settings also, very easy to use and quick too based on my shoulder length, semi-fine hair. The blow out was beautiful, smooth, bouncy and I also noticed that this Conair Brush didnt pull out as many hairs as the others did. I was really pleased with the product compared to more expensive ones, I will stick with this one and I returned all the others. Great value for a great brush!

Rubbish product. Need a converter to use. Supposed to reach 30 Nov but I only received today 5 Dec and can’t use. Not even with the converter I have. So now I have to find one converter that can attach to this. Delivery was super long and the inconvenience. Can’t try if it’s working condition or not. Singapore customers, do not buy! Waste of more money and time. Will review more once tested.
