Will dry carpet cleaning destroy my soil-resist or stain-resist treatment?
No. It’s not necessary to reapply stain resistant treatments after every carpet cleaning. However, foot traffic can destroy some soil resisting treatments. Soil and stain resisting treatments should be reapplied after every two to three carpet cleanings, if the carpet is cleaned regularly. Carpet that is not professionally cleaned every 12 to 18 months may require a stain resistant treatment after each carpet cleaning.

Capture is very effective on all types and constructions of carpets and rugs. Carpets and rugs that don’t have pile but are flat instead should be cleaned by first applying the PreMist, then GENTLY brushing in the PreMist, followed by applying the powder and brushing that in. The tighter construction of berber sometimes makes penetration of the powder more difficult, so using a little extra PreMist will enhance the Capture powder’s performance.

Best carpet cleaner I have found
We love this carpet cleaner! I just wish the premised came in a gallon refill bottle. However, since this carpet cleaner works so well, we will continue to buy it regardless. We have two large German shepherds, and two cats, one of which is special needs and incontinent. This carpet cleaner has no smell yet. It removes the stain and smell from any animal âoopsiesâ and weâve used it for years.

Good but not perfect
This was relatively easy to use but took some effort. There is a scent (lemony, pleasant and non- chemically) but it doesn’t seem to have any artificial fragrance and never triggered any allergies. It is a very fine, almost damp powder. When used carefully and as directed, it doesn’t become airborne, though when emptying my (non-bag) vacuum it did disperse a bit. I found that it did slightly clog my vacuum filters, but they are all rinse-able so it wasn’t a problem. In all, it certainly isn’t entirely fool- or hassle- proof, but much, much cheaper than a professional cleaning. Did it work??? Well… at first, yes. But after a few weeks some odor has come back. The issue I was trying to solve was from my dog who was dying of cancer for a few months, and leaking bloody drool (and maybe urine) onto the carpet. The stench when summer hit and I closed the windows was really bad, and this made it go away. For a while. When it came back, it was much less intense. I haven’t re-applied yet. I also left it on for 6-8 hours, much longer than the instructions.

Took out blue chalk line on beige carpet
My builder use blue chalkline to put up a new handrail for my stairway. Unfortunately, it got on the newly carpeted (light beige) steps. He didn’t know that it would be hard to get out, so he didn’t stop and clean it. He just finished the job and told me at the end of the work day. I vacuumed the stairs, but several large deep blue stains remained. I was worried that regular wet carpet cleaners would get the blue chalk more embedded in the carpet fibers,, so I did a little research and found a post of someone who had gotten it out with the Capture brand. I was able to get the dry powder cleaner at the Local DIY but not the pre-mist. I used the dry cleaning powder alone and afterwards just a faint but still noticeable blue shadow remained. I ordered the pre-mist through Amazon. When the pre-mist arrived, I used that with the dry as per the instructions, the carpeting looked as good as new! Amazing stuff.
