There are two kinds of reviews for robot vacuums…
Itâs important to know there are two kinds of reviews: first time owners and repeat owners. A positive or negative review isnât just reflective of the product, but also the owner group the reviewer is in.
If considering as a first time owner, you arenât just making a purchase of convenience. This is an actual moving, functioning item you have to prepare for. Like child proofing you need to consider what obstacles your vacuum could encounter (cords, low furniture clearances, certain kind of rugs, etc.). You should also supervise your vacuum for the first few rounds to check on safety. Working with your family to keep obstacles out of the way is important, too. Fortunately, after living prosperously with a bObsweep for many years (âBobâ), we decided to upgrade to a newer model.
As a repeat customer, I immediately noticed the same quality as before, but evolved- smarter. The packaging was neat and protective. The vacuum body height was shorter and just overall SLEEKER. It even spoke to help with setup (a female voice, we have now named âBobbiâ). With a long-haired dog in our house, keeping the vacuum clean and clearing hair from rotating components is so easy- my 8 year old can do it (watch out for one side of the rotating brush that I included in the pictures- remove the rubber piece while cleaning). Battery life is easily OVER 2 HOURS!
What was new for us with this upgrade was the WiFi capabilities. We can simply ask Alexa to âstart/stop/charge Bobbiâ, setup run schedules in the app, or even see the mapping of the cleaning in the app. The biggest improvement is clearly how Bobbi maps her trip, sometimes pausing to scan her surroundings before continuing. Before, our old vacuum was great but would often get stuck in the same vortex not covering as much space as possible (relying on just the mechanics of hitting obstacles and working to maneuver around them). Bobbi definitely gets to more spaces now, not getting stuck in a vortex. She even seems to know what she didnât get to before needing to charge (one trip sheâll start working to the left, the next trip sheâll start working to the right).
The main obstacle with the new vacuum Is the lower height, so it maneuvered around our house differently than the old one. A low cost purchase to raise my couch an inch and block off underneath a cabinet (see pictures) easily remedied this problem. Now we donât need to supervise Bobbi and can focus our attention back on our infant and 8 year old!
The customer service at bObsweep has been superb, quickly answering questions, making suggestions, or even better, just checking in to see how Bobbi is working for our house!
Highly recommended for first time or repeat owners, just be prepared to ârobot-proofâ!

Happy Sweeper
I had the original Bobsweep Pethair vacuum. I found it difficult to program so he basically only got used when I thought to start him, and even then he could not work unsupervised because he was so tall he frequently got stuck under cabinets and furniture. When he finally developed a fatal sensor issue, I contacted Customer Support and was offered an exchange deal that was too good to pass up! I am now the happy owner of a Vision model.
We got off to a rocky start – he had connectivity issues – but once that was fixed, he was up and running in no time. New Bob does a great job! I am constantly amazed at how much dirt he picks up. We have a long haired dog who sheds tumbleweeds, and every day I empty Bob’s bin which is chock full of dog hair and other debris. It’s such a joy to be able to walk barefoot across the living room now without stepping on hard chunks of Milk Bone left behind by the Rox.
Initially I had to rescue him pretty often, but as we’ve gotten to know each other, I have learned what I need to patrol to keep him from getting hung up (he doesn’t like things that get sucked up and jam him such as carpet fringe, power cords and wires, husband’s underwear strewn about the bathroom floor, etc.).
Now the pros and cons. In his favor, among things, the app makes it simple to program – pick your days and the time to start and he goes. The battery life is excellent, Bob goes up to two hours before returning to his dock. He is modular which means it is much quicker and easier to take him apart when maintenance becomes necessary. He’s lower than old Bob so he gets under furniture and the cabinets without getting stuck. Unfortunately, there is a trade-off with the reduced height – the bin is smaller which means more frequent dumping – but it’s well worth his increased ability to get under things. Of course, there are things that could stand improvement. Dog hair wraps around the ends of the main brush and causes a brush error, so I have to take the brush apart regularly to clean it out. This is becoming less of an issue over time as he gets caught up and there is less dog hair than when he started, though. My other complaint is a software issue – hopefully over time the app will be updated, but for now it is very simple. The map rarely resembles my house, so on the occasion that he gets stuck somewhere, it isn’t always easy to figure out what room he’s in. And if he DOES get stuck and has to be restarted, the map starts over from that spot and the dock location is erased, meaning he has more trouble finding it when it is time to return.
Overall, I am very happy with my Bobsweep Vision! It was WELL worth upgrading to have clean floors that I rarely have to think about. And I can’t say enough about Bobsweep’s Customer Service – it is the absolute best I have EVER dealt with. Communication is amazing and so is their commitment to their customer’s satisfaction. This alone rates a five star review. (Thank you, Gabe!)

Lots of improvements: quiet, easier to use, longer buttery life…
This is my 3rd Bob Sweep (I am still using my two old one over 5 years now).
I used the Bob vision plus for short time since I gave it as a gift to my neighbor who took care of my animals, 3 cats and a dog, while I was traveling.
I am impressed how quiet Bob vision plus is. It is only 3″ tall which allows cleaning under furniture without getting stuck. It is lighter, move with ease and quickly cover huge area, has longer battery life. The mop and the dustbin are very well done, easier to use and clean. Works well on hard-surface floor.
Here is the review from my neighbor: âLove the bob sweep! It does really good mapping of the house and picks up well. Vacuum attachment works better than the wet mop attachment.â
I will definitely buy one more for myself.

Hasnât had a single run where I didnât have to clean the brush every 5 or so minutes
I didnât have high hopes or expectations for this guy. I just wanted him to run on his own and keep the dog fur piles at a minimum for daily cleaning. Iâve run him 4 times now and every 5-10 minutes I get a main brush jammed warning and have to flip him over and clean the main brush. He also does not pick up huge piles of dust and fur that he pulls out from under the baseboards. Although, I am glad that he can get under there. Im not sure what makes this the a âpet hairâ vacuum, but I would expect a pet hair vacuum to do what my Dyson does- not get tangled in pet hair.
Unfortunately, this little guy is going to be going back and Iâll be getting a roomba.

Iâve had two other version of Bobsweepâs in the past, and recently upgraded to the plus.
It is a game changer. It is quicker, quieter and I love the mopping feature. I even took a video and sent it to my brother who got just as excited as I was that I wasnât mopping my own floor.

Bobsweep does a great job of daily vacuuming my hardwood floors.
