Small and Powerful… perfect combination!
This B&D 4-gallon shop vac can handle any large (wet or dry) mess with ease. I used to drag out my large 16-gallon shop vac for every job, even for the small ones like vacuuming out the inside of our vehicles. Not anymore…
With all of its attachments, extensions and the 5-foot hose, this little baby is my go-to vacuum for everything. The convenient top mounted handle makes it easy to carry and the four wheels allow it to roll on most surfaces with ease. Very simple assembly… with the six included screws, you attach the top handle with 2-screws and the four wheels,1-screw each, to the base of the tank. All of the attachments can be kept organized with the vacuum unit by securing them to the topside of the tank wheels (smart design). This little vacuum also can be used as a blower by attaching the hose to the exhaust outlet on the tank. I found this blowing feature to be a little weak for my needs. My 16-gallon shop vac has a 6.5hp motor which is a removable unit and intended for that purpose, so I use that for my blower if needed.
My final thoughts on this Black and Decker 4-gallon shop vac… why didn’t I get one of these little shop vacs sooner? Its convenance makes cleaning up messes so much easier. I’m very happy with unit.
If you time your purchase right, you can get a major discount on it when comparing to the big-box stores.

Big little shop vac.
I’ve needed a smaller shop vacuum for a while, since there are places my big one can’t go, and i don’t really want a rectangular one as i do use it to suck up water from time to time. This seemed like a good idea when i looked at the ad, as it’s rated like the big guys, but is smaller, yet holds quite a bit. When i got this i was delighted to see how they handled the hose, it’s the thinner type that is common on the smaller ones, but the host adapts to the large size when it connects to the vacuum, which allows me to use either hose easily, giving me access to all the implements. The implements it comes with are great, they are at a slightly different angle than my big vac, and i like the angle better. The filter is simpler, which will translate to lower cost and easier to store spares, it works with a vacuum bag or without as well.
In short, it’s a big vacuum in a small bucket, which is exactly what i wanted.. I was NOT expecting to be able to use the big vac’s hose, but i can do that if i want to as well. It really seems like Black+Decker listened to customer feedback on this and delivered on the types of things the customers were asking for.

Best Tool for Countless Apartment-Sized Clean Ups!
While I impulsively ordered this apartment-sized “shop vac” in tribute to my long-since dearly departed dad, who kept one quite like this, only larger, down in his basement workbench area, for cleaning up after his myriad maintenance, repair & construction projects around the house…I’m surprised and more than a bit embarrassed to now admit this smaller, more apartment-sized version has turned out to be one of the single most practical items I’ve ordered online in recent years!
While there’s no basement or garage attached to our apartment here in the big city, I’m embarrassed to admit I’ve lived here for more than two years without any kind of equipment like this that could SO much more quickly and efficiently assist me in properly cleaning and maintaining all the tile and hardwood floors & surfaces throughout our apartment!
