Customers say

Customers find the carpet upholstery cleaning machine functional and effective at picking up pet hair. It works well on carpets and hardwood floors. However, some find it heavy or top-heavy, with a bulky front that makes it difficult to maneuver under furniture. There are also complaints about the hose length. Opinions vary on suction power, lift off feature, ease of use, and how easy it is to clean.

Do yourself a favor and buy it
Honestly can’t say enough good things about this vacuum. I run a dog boarding business out of my home so I am constantly vacuuming. 1-3 times a day. I have always used bissel but this is my first “nicer” quality vacuum as the ones I had before were the cheaper $100 ones. I haven’t vacuumed my stairs in months because it’s such a pain in the butt, but it took me under 5 minutes today using the lift off feature and attachment(s). I love all of the extras is comes with, the led crevas tool is awesome. I used it around my baseboards to get all the hair stuck in the cracks. The headlights are very useful for darker areas as well. I’ve never had a swivel vacuum so that’s taking some getting used to but I really like it so far. It is a little heavier than other vacuums I’ve used but I don’t mind as I can tell it’s working well and doing it’s job. The other thing I really like about it is that I can vacuum my long haired shag rugs without it trying to eat them or stop the brush roll. I’ve had to shake some of them out on a regular basis as our old vacuum would not allow me to go over those rugs. The only thing I would add to this vacuum is a retractable cord. Since i use it so often I find wrapping the cord up to be tedious but that’s just an extra that would be the cherry on top. If you’re contemplating buying this vacuum this is your sign lol you won’t be disappointed.Edit to add: I got it on sale for $189 on black Friday, however, I would pay the $300 for it.

    Best Vacuum I’ve Ever Owned
Seriously a treasure! I have two Chow Chows with long, coarse hair that was the destroyer of all previous vacuums. I reverted to using a shop vac for years until, well, I got older and didn’t want to vacuum on my hands and knees anymore. Pet parents: this vacuum’s roller does NOT get tangled with hair… it works, it’s life changing!! No bending over every 2 minutes to cut through and peel hair from the roller, and forget those trolls who claim it’s so easy to remove the roller and cut through hair… they have never been owned by a Chow Chow!! The suction is fantastic, in fact, I didn’t ever realize how little I was actually picking up with my shop vac. The canister is a bit small, but I don’t even care, because it’s a celebration in our house each time I dump that filth into the trash. Vacuum maneuvers nicely around everything, and fits a good way under my couch. I don’t have an enormous house, so it’s rather nice that the cord is long enough that I can plug it into the middle room’s outlet and reach every corner without moving to another outlet… it’s the little things! My only “complaints” are that the vacuum is a bit top heavy, and it tips over on me when I try to use the wand. It’s also a bit difficult for me to pick up, but then, I’m no Spring Chicken, so that’s acceptable.Pet people, DO NOT hesitate!!

Yes, it actually WORKS with long pet hair!
After four months of extreme frustration with a Shark Navigator we began searching for a vacuum that would work in our household – two seniors, two Shelties and a Golden Retriever. We came across this Bissel and we believe our problem has actually been solved. The design of the vacuum makes perfect mechanical sense: if you want to vacuum up long hair, make the circumference of the roller longer than the hair you want to pick up. That way, the hair cannot wrap itself completely around the roller and will eventually be knocked off the brushes by suction and other incoming debris. And behold, it actually does work! The very first task after removing it from the box and easy assembly was to vacuum the living room rug. A few minutes later we had a clean rug, a canister full of dirt and dog hair – and not one single hair wrapped around the roller – hooray! With the Shark, I would have had to stop and literally cut the hair off the roller at least once and probably twice. The suction is great and it’s nice to have lights.I was in such a hurry to try it out that I neglected to tighten the one single screw you have to install to hold the handle in place – I had put it in by hand but had not tightened it. By the time I was done, the screw had disappeared. Now, I’ve been around long enough to have become a firm believer in Murphy’s Law and all its corollaries. I know that if a piece falls off of something it will immediately hide itself in the very last place you would think to search so, rather than getting down on my hands and knees and feeling over the entire living room for a two inch screw, I went immediately to the trash can, reached into the prodigious lump of dog hair the Bissel had just removed from the carpet, and – voila! – there was the screw. And it stands as a testament that the Bissel could suck up that two inch screw without so much as a hiccup.Just as powerful as the Shark, just as easy to use – if a bit heavier – lights on the head and even the crevice tool, and fully capable of dealing with the long pet hair that is so much a part of the fabric of our existence. So why not five stars? Bissel has succumbed to the same idea as Shark and some others of offering a “power” brush that is driven by suction turning a little squirrel cage turbine in the pet brush attachment and thus offering a “powered” extension brush at a cheaper price. But this is a design fad that doesn’t really work very well because it can’t produce the torque necessary to keep the brush revolving under any kind of decent resistance. If you really want a powered brush, you need to look for one that advertises a “motorized” brush rather than a “power” brush. If the pet brush was motorized this would absolutely be a five star product – and just the fact that it will deal with long pet hair without even breaking a sweat is darn near enough to get it there.UPDATE: Three and a half months in and I just wanted to confirm my initial findings. The vacuum itself still works great even with our long pet hair, but the “power” pet brush has succumbed to the same problem as the Shark – hairs get in and wrap around the shaft that drives the squirrel cage, quickly causing enough friction to overcome the force of the suction and stop the squirrel cage – and thus the brush – from turning. One slight bit of good news – unlike the Shark, I found that I could disassemble the pet brush far enough to get at the shaft and, with a needle, a pair of tweezers and lots of patience, clear the hair out and get the brush turning again…but it just does it again. We’re going to be shopping for a little handheld vacuum with a MOTORIZED brush specifically to do the stairs, since that is the only place this presents a problem. For the rest of the house this vacuum is great.

Worth the price especially if you have pets.
Had to write a review. Really good suction, super long cord length, easy to use, honestly worth the price. Get the extra pet hair attachment, it’s worth it. Never had anything work better with pet hair than this vacuum.

Overall a great vacume! I agree with many, it’s decently heavy but manageable (and I’m not super big/strong). I was impressed how good it took the clumps of hair off the carpet and cat scratchers (I have two dogs and two cats all long hair). Cleans up hardwood pretty decent as well, all the little crumbs from kiddos and hairs. The tools are great, didn’t find I was wishing for more. Would defentily recommend for those who have any pets. Love the swivle factor when vacuming, makes it way easier! So easy to empty and keep going. Tanks a little small, but it’s so fast to empty it doesn’t matter.

This is exactly what someone with a pet that sheds a lot (or a partner with long hair….) needs! Now, I’m comparing this vacuum over the last Hoover I had and I must say it’s substantially better. Firstly, there is SOME hair that does get tangled to the brush but it’s not nearly as much as my old vacuum did. I can easily pull out the long strands of hair and just siphon it up right after use. No more vacuum surgeries required with scissors, knives, and screw drivers. Secondly, it feels like it’s build extremely well. Some people complain that it’s a bit heavy but I enjoy that feeling. I know that it won’t just come a part as soon as you accidentally knock a wall or board. The tools that come with it work well and I love the lift off functionality. The mobility of this vacuum is also superb. All in all, with the discounted price I bought this at, I would say this is the best vacuum I’ve ever owned thus far (and I’ve had a Dyson before too…)

I do really like this vacuum. It suction is very powerful and it works on all types of floors. The pull off top is easy to walk it downstairs and vacuum the stairs. I have a husky and a black lab/husky so in the spring and fall there is tons of fur. This vacuum picks up dog hair really well. The one thing I do not like about this vacuum is the reachable arm is not long enough and the lock doesn’t lock the greatest. I would say in the end it is worth it’s value. I do recommend

I am very disappointed because i paid too much money for a vacuum that is nothing as described. Very very loud, shuts off when goes sideways, suction power is very low and also it is such a heavy vacuum. Wish i could return it but i threw the box away.

This vacuum is a miracle for a house with two cats! It lifts so much hair and actually makes the old carpet look fluffy and newer! It is a little heavy and doesn’t roll over changes in height (like from floor to area rug) really easy but that is a small inconvenience for an otherwise terrific vacuum!
