I received this item today. I had to replace a similar item that didn’t include the algae scraper blade. This item is used to maintain aquarium glass and is a superior method as compared to long handled aquarium scrubbers.I like the quality of this item, the magnets are strong and the glass cleaning pad works as expected to remove light algae growth. The item comes with a removable blade if you don’t want to use it, but I have found that the blade is desirable for thicker patches of aquarium algae that become stubborn to remove.The blade is the most important part of this device as it works to remove all debris on the glass. There blade is a thin piece of sharpened stainless steel and it works very well. I am concerned about leaving the metal blade in the tank as metals can become toxic to fish and plant life, so I do recommend that you remove the scraper from the aquarium when not in use.Secondary to the blade, the part of the device that goes in the tank has a scrubber that removes even more algae. However, I do find that the scraper pretty much removes everything, the scrubber just sort of polishes and cleans up any remaining streaks.Overall, the device works well and has met all of my expectations. This item should last a long time with appropriate care.I do suggest this item to anyone with a glass aquarium.NOTE: This item is for glass only, as the materials will scratch acrylic and/or leave swirl marks.

Compact size with strong magnet, flows when detached. Can easily move thru corners. Cleans well. We have no need for the scrapper, so did not attach to metal tip, but looks like it can remove hard scales when needed.
