Seeing some of the other reviews it seems people have issues with a check-valve. Easy to avoid if you pay attention when assembling it.
Assembly is simple enough. If you are experienced in aquaria then you definitely have the skills to get the job done in a few minutes.
It works as expected. The suction is ideal for my sand bottom tank. Gravel struggles a bit, but it is made up of relatively large pebbles.
For the price this is a great syphon. If it was priced like some of the major brands I would say to avoid this one, but given it is relatively cheap I dont think you can go wrong with this one.

I was not impressed
So let me start out with the negative. The plastic is brittle. I was not a fan of the narrowness of the intake But…I liked how you can adjust the height of the intake. I also liked that the intake basket was deep enough to pull in debris but shallow enough that i could clean it in a bucket. I also liked the shut off valve. The siphon primed quickly. And I liked the clip for the bucket that kept discharge hose secured in the bucket.
Overall I had low expectations. After using it to clean my 75 gallon tank, was I impressed? No, but it worked. We will see how the longevity of it works out.

Does NOT WORK
Horrendous. Bulb siphon requires gorilla strength, first off; even if your product works (mine did not) it wonât be a good fit for anyone who (1) has small hands & (2) doesnât weight-lift on the reg. Requires crazy wrist strength. More importantly, it does not work after 5 pumps, as the product info implies; it indeed does not work after 50 pumps!! Failed to get a single drop of water out of any of my aquariums, and I have three, all different heights. I installed everything correctly. Again, the one YOU receive might workâ¦ but I doubt it. Give this a pass and just buy a giant turkey baster instead.

Inconsistent
It works well for emptying the tank of water. But I bought it for sucking up the debris at the bottom and it didnât work as well as I would have liked. It was a little tricky to get going, the hand pump didnât always pump enough to pull out the water or debris. Also you have to cut the tube, which wasnât specified in the instructions.

Works great; found another great use for it
Easy to assemble. Squeeze the siphon pump bulb 15-20 times and the water starts flowing. I used this to siphon melted ice out of a cooler chest that would have been too heavy to lift out of a car. Very handy.

Works Pretty Well
We bought this product for my 15 gallon tall fish tank. It worked pretty well at getting the water out. I still have some debris in the tank, but I will just use it again and see if that works. The attachments fit together nicely. You also have to cut a bit of the hose off to attach to the middle of it, just so you are aware. It took a little bit for us to get it started. You had to have it at the right angle, but after we did it worked just fine. The flow switch worked really well. As soon as the bucket was almost full we would flip the switch and the flow would stop. The switch was the main reason I bought the particular vacuum.

Necessary product for keeping a tidy aquarium
I have had other manual cleaners before and this one is very nice. Its comfortable and easy to use. Really able to clean up the bottom of that tank and suck up that gross stuff on the bed of your aquarium. This works well and I would recommend this for any one needing to keep an aquarium clean.

I have a large aquarium, this product in its self isn’t bad. It doesn’t suck up enough water for it to be worth while for large aquariums.
