Hydrohoist boat lift replacement
I bought this for my Hydrohoist 8000 lb. boat lift. The old motor had ground to a halt as I was laying up for the winter. Freak-out time! I quickly did a best-I-could online comparison of this and another similar product. The other one on Amazon was more than twice as much money and had slower shipping. I needed a solution ASAP, so I went with this one.It *does* have a place to ground the motor. It took me about 10 minutes to install the new one and wire it up because I had already removed the old one. If you havenât done this before I think it can be done in 30-45 minutes total. If you have to do it a second time someday, you can do the whole thing in 10 minutes if youâve had some experience. This motor is very quiet compared to how loud the old one had become. It may be *slightly* slower to lift than the old motor was when it was new, but it works like a champ and I have no issues. Honestly, the old one had been compromised for so long I donât remember how fast it used to be.Iâd like to know more about the two motors I was considering. The more expensive one may move air more quickly, and thus raise my boat more quickly. That *might* be worth the additional cost. On the other hand, this works well and arrived the next day with one-day shipping, and thatâs exactly what I needed.I think that since this motor is sitting by the water year around it will likely fail every 3-5 years like my last one did. At least now I can control the cost and, more importantly, the timing of such repairs. If I had to call a shop for this repair it certainly wouldâve included at least a minimum labor charge and at least $160 (if not more like $300) for a Hydrohoist blower. Worse, who knows how long it would be before somebody came out to do the job. For a boater, the only thing worse than spent money is lost time.If your blower motor is starting to sound like it has bits of gravel inside, buy one of these and keep it on hand. At this price I think Iâll order an extra so that I always have one ready in the garage. My older-version of the controller (see pic) is part number 582200, Control – Interim 1V/1M Complete Assembly (from the service tag) manufactured May 6, 2003 (?). The newer ones come in a differently shaped housing, but the internal components are essentially the same.Good luck and happy boating.

Replaced a 12 year old motor
I replaced a 5000 pound boat lift motor. The tricky part was the new one had two black wires instead of a white and black wire. Also did not have a ground wire. The old motor ground screw fit the only place the existing ground wire would work for. It turned out that it doesnât matter which is used for black or white wires. Once all was connected and turned on it worked great. I hope to get another 12 years use on this new motor. So far so good. Giving it 5 stars but it should have some instructions or at least some links to helpful videos because I would expect this would mostly be used to replace a boat lift motor.

It works
This was the right fit and fix for my older Hydro boat lift. Bought the first one fro227.00 from Grangers and it raised the boat two times and locked up, Granger gave me a replacement that couldn’t raise the boat at all then they gave me a refund. The motor I got on Amazon for much less money has worked for two weeks now. I’m not knocking Grangers at all but I thought for the money difference I thought I was getting top quality product. All I can say at this point it this one is working as good as the one that came with the lift.

Identical blower on my 30-year-old boat lift
This blower was the same model number on my 30-year-old boat lift. The original blower finally failed. This was a perfect replacement and is much quieter than the old one. I wired it up the same as the old one so it would blow vs. suction. Easy install.

Works fine.
I bought this vacuum motor to use as a blower for a home made propane gas forge. It works like a charm.Since it has a brushed universal motor, it is easily speed controlled with a simple lamp dimmer or a Variac. It will run on both AC and DC power.Between the blower speed control and the propane regulator, I can create any size flame I wish, and any type I wish (reducing, neutral or oxidizing). The blower is well built and nicely balanced. At full speed it does not vibrate at all.I’m sure it’s good for a vacuum cleaner, but I can tell you that it’s great for a gas forge blower, and it has a lot more CFM and static pressure than the typical squirrel cage fan blower others use.

Worked as a replacement for boat lift blower
This was purchased as a replacement motor for a boat lift blower. It was an exact fit. My only concern is that this was not a grounded motor, so I had to run a ground wire to the motor housing. Other than that, perfectly fit my application and needs.

Good product..but..
I bought 4 of these for my carpet machines as they were the exact model. After using it 2 times,1 motor burned-out. Thank God I bought extra.

Caution: Blower cover is not attached!!
Worked for 10 seconds then the blower housing flew off and into the lake. I had high hopes when I received the unit. It looked identical to the original HydroHoist. I wired it, mounted it and turned it on. For 10 seconds I was elated, then the blower housing flew off and into the lake. Upon examination, the original unit was all metal and the blower housing was spot welded to the unit to hold it on. The new unit had a metal blower cover but the rest is plastic. You can not spot weld, but they should have epoxied the two together. They did not. They just pushed the metal cover on the plastic base and expected that to stay. Bad idea. Sarah Pâs review is how she solved it. I should have done that but my cover is 25â underwater. Hoping to get a refund.
