This is an amazing vacuum for carpet. You need it.
Update after several months: still very impressed with its performance on carpet, but not loving it for hard floors. The reality is that it’s a hassle to go after bits of cat litter with the handle nozzle thingie. This is not a design flaw or even a criticism – upright style vacuums just do not work well on hard floors. That’s a task for a canister vac (which doesn’t do well on carpet). If you have any rooms with carpet, this vacuum is definitely worth buying (and prepare to be grossed out by how much it pulls up). For hard floors, look for a canister style with the wide flat style attachment that gets very close to the floor.Original reviewBuying a vacuum feels like a luxury, especially when you can easily spend hundreds. My old one was always spitting schmutz around on the hard floor – which is almost all of my home. Extremely frustrating, but didn’t really merit replacement. Then the power pedal gave out, and when I spotted this one, something just told me to get it. I’m usually so big on doing research, but the price and reviews were great. Very glad I took that leap. The other reviewers have pretty much said it all. It’s lightweight but does not feel flimsy. It’s smaller scale – maybe 3/4 scale of a regular upright. The designers did a great job choosing practical features and making it easy to use. What amazed me is what it actually does to the carpet. I don’t know how old my rental home’s flooring is… seven years at least. I live in a cold climate (on the ground floor so lots of dirt and dust blows in) and my roommate is a very sweet, super fuzzy cat. It’s just really difficult to keep the floors clean. The carpet isn’t horrendous, but it’s getting worn and has definitely seen much better days. You know how even mid-pile standard home carpet kind of wears down and gets flatter over time? I did not think that was fixable, but a few passes with this and it’s much more plush. This vacuum didn’t just clean the carpet, it basically restored it. I have had a lot of vacuums over the years and have never seen any of them do that. It’s also much better on hard floors – the traces of cat litter can ricochet a bit, but I can just detach the handle and get it up that way. Other things like fluff and bits of cat food etc. are no problem.I’m beyond thrilled with this thing, particularly given the very low price. You should get it right this second. Will definitely keep an eye on Amazon branded products in the future too.

    Best ever. 150/10.
Just buy this dumb thing. It’s cheap. It’s not cute. It’s also actually the best vacuum I’ve used. I THOUGHT my carpets weren’t too bad. See, I’m a rancher, in the middle of the dusty, windy plains of MT, on a gravel road, and we have a cattle. And four dogs. And a couple kitties. And humans who work outside in all weather. I used my expensive vacuum a lot. It died, this was cheap, figured it would be a good fill in temporarily. Uhhh no. The absolute horror show this thing pulls out of my carpets several times a week is terrifying. This thing is AWESOME. It’s light, it went together in like 2 minutes, I can’t seem to clog it and the attachments work wonderfully. It’s super easy to pull apart and clean. I’ve beat it up and it still likes me. It’s been four or five months now and it still works like a beast. I never thought I’d be on here singing praises for a stupid vacuum but just BUY it already.

    GREAT SUCTION, EASY TO USE
I literally just got this less than an hour ago. It’s lightweight, easy to use and has great suction. It works well on my rugs and on the floors. Easy to clean afterwards. For these reasons and the price, I highly recommend this vacuum.

Up and running (and terrorizing the cat) in no time!
After reading most of the reviews, I knew pretty much what to expect from this vacuum, and it doesn’t disappoint. It was easy to put together, and I was vacuuming just a few moments after I got it. I bought this vacuum because my much more expensive Miele canister vacuum — while it’s well engineered, handles bare floors beautifully and is super quiet — can’t even pick up lint from my wool area rug. So I was looking for an inexpensive, yet effective and lightweight upright vacuum solely for use on my living room area rug. So glad I came across this option, as I really didn’t want to invest a more considerable sum in a vacuum just for use on an area rug. Though it’s now three years old, the rug is still releasing a lot of minuscule wool fibers, and due to the wimpy carpet suction power of the Miele canister vacuum, I was sure the rug was harboring a lot of dust as well.So my requirements for a more powerful vacuum were pretty minimal. I just wanted something fairly compact, but powerful enough to get my area rug clean. The short cord isn’t an issue for me because my area rug isn’t huge, and I don’t intend to use it on my hardwood floors. I don’t mind that it doesn’t have a swivel head because it’s easy enough to maneuver. My area rug is just 9×12, but when I let this little vacuum loose on it, I was impressed to see that the dust cup was full almost immediately, no doubt sucking up three years of the dust and wool bits left behind by my Miele. The rug was noticeably brighter after running this vacuum over it. The dirt receptacle is easy to remove and empty, but I’d never do it indoors — having had a bagless upright vacuum in the past, I quickly realized that no matter how carefully it’s done, emptying it indoors releases dust into the air, so I empty it into a bag outdoors. I miss having an upright with a HEPA filter, but I knew this one didn’t have one, and wouldn’t have expected it at this price. But I’d forgotten what it was like to use a vacuum without a HEPA filter, and was reminded how handy they are because after using this vacuum the first time, I was coughing and the house smelled like dust. But the second time I used it — no doubt because it did such a good job cleaning the rug the first time — it wasn’t an issue. To sum up, I’m impressed at how effectively this well-priced vacuum cleans. I love the size and light weight, and the simplicity of the design, and it’s not as noisy as I expected, after reading other reviews. Having said that, I’ll still only use it when I know my neighbor is at work. Again, I don’t intend to use it on my hardwood floors (I have to get some kind of ROI from my expensive Miele canister, which does a great job on bare floors), so there’s no disappointment in that regard. I’m very happy with this purchase, and I feel so much better knowing that my area rug is now dust free. It will probably still be shedding for months to come, as that’s the nature of tufted wool rugs, but at least I now know that I have a much better tool to deal with it. Another plus is that this compact vacuum takes up very little space in the limited storage area in my flat. All in all, I’m very chuffed with this little powerhouse of a vacuum!

    honestly better than our Dyson
Bought this for a basement vacuum but its outstanding in picking up everything including embedded dog hair. Better than our $400 Dyson. This has become our main vacuum because its super powerful, easy to move around ( stairs are a breeze) and have a super fast spinning brush and fantastic suction. Easy to clean and works on carpet 5*…bare floor 4* picks up fine dust like a shop vac ( drywall dust) even ash from the fireplace.Only down side is the limited hose length on the hand held brush its only about 3feet so you have to carry the unit with you in most cases. But overall it’s just a great vacuum for $60
