Do not purchase
The fit is horrible. The grindability is the product being ground to dust because of the bad fit and poor quality parts. The functionality is non existent. This didn’t even fit 1 of 2 of my angle grinder. This is a poor value for the money. If it doesn’t fit and the parts fall apart then there is no dust removal.

Works within limitations
Like the other reviewers I was disappointed to find this cutting guard made of plastic. obviously this is going to limit the use to non-metallic cutting and grinding. The sparks thrown off are seriously hot and I once ruined a set of Rayban sunglasses using them for eye protection while grinding some metal outside, the sparks thrown off melded pits into the glasses. An expensive lesson. That being noted for use with cutting and grinding tile I found the guard performed as advertised. I set it up on a knock-off Makita cordless 4 1/2â grinder. The instruction where pretty straightforward and as long as you followed them methodically set up was not an issue. Once I found the right adapter for the vacuum tube it contained about 85% of the dust generated grinding granite. Iâve never bought anything like this before so I canât speak to the price compared to other options. It did the job I needed, I knocked off stars because I can only use it with stone and tile and Iâll have to find other options for metal

A good dust collecting guard
This guard fit on my 4 1/2 in grinder just fine. The vacuum hose fit good. Dust removal is good. As with most guards it gets in the way at times but overall it’s a good product.

Ok as a dust collector, not so much as a shield
I was expecting this dust extractor to fit over the shield that protects the blade. It does not, and instead replaces the shield. The shield on my cheap off brand 4 1/2″ grinder is solid steel and if the blade breaks (if you use composite blades you will have some break) it will mostly keep shards from finding your body or eyes. this plastic will not. A cutting blade at 20,000 RPM will also cut right through this plastic without slowing down. Because of the way this is mounted it is also muck closer to the blade than the original shroud was, and that increases heat and risk that material will get between the blade and the shroud, increasing that risk of breaking.The only thing I’ve been comfortable using this on is thin ceramic, which at least doesn’t get as hot as steel or stone, and connected to a shop vac the dust collection is effective. The blades I use on ceramic are diamond coated steel, so breakage is far less likely.Overall I can’t really recommend this product, primarily due to the weakness and forced removal of the factory shroud.

Cutting certain materials generates particles exceeding the melting point of the guard
The primary purpose of the shroud is to protect the operator from a defective cutting disk flying apart at high speeds. Angle grinders operate at speeds above 9000 RPM, and a cutting disk that fails at or above that speed will penetrate an interior drywall several feet from the tool. This dust-collecting shroud is apparently made of ABS plastic, which decomposes above 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The product description shows the shroud used with a blade to cut steel, whose particles thrown off during cutting consistently exceed 500 degrees Fahrenheit. This shroud does not meet OSHA standard 1910.243 (Guarding of portable powered tools) for protecting the operator.I have a 4-1/2â angle grinder, and a 5â angle grinder. This shroud does not fit and stay on either of my two angle grinders, even though the product description says it is âsuitable for most 4 to 5 inch angle grinders.â The one page “manual” contains only pictures, with no text directions for use and safety. I cannot recommend this expensive shroud that inadequately protects the tool operator.

RETURNED â too flimsy â critical parts made of fragile plastic.I really wanted this angle grinder dust shroud to work. I often use an angle grinder to cut grooves in old plaster and lathe walls to run MC electrical conduit. Even with a helper holding a vacuum cleaner hose right in the dust path there is a lot of dust created. Such a shroud as this would really help trapping the dust so that the vacuum cleaner could pull it away. Most of the shroud parts are made of delicate plastic that will not hold up against a stream of dust blast. ALL of my angle grinders have METAL guards. I just naively expected that all such angle grinder blade guards would, of course, be made of durable METAL.
