I purchased a Bissell “stick” vacuum some time ago. It seemed like a good idea – a small, handheld vacuum to pick up the odd little mess without hauling out “the hose” from the basement. Pretty good little vacuum, but the filters were a surprise.All good, a tight mesh filter in front of a pleated paper filter to trap dirt. That outside mesh would capture all the larger bits like hair, spilled dog food and what-not. The inner paper filter would get the very small bits. But as I tried to clean those two filters under the tap, I realized that the paper filter was actually constructed with a sticky paper. Brilliant! All those fine, little particles get stuck onto the paper and will not let go. But as you try to clean it, the dirt won’t let go. So, you have a very effective filter, but you can’t really clean it, the way you might like.A great way to sell more filters, and I was resigned to the fact that I will now have to purchase a lot more filters than I had ever intended. Until this product came along.From what I can tell, both of the filters are made from the same machine! They are identical! Absolutely identical. The difference is that the final stage paper filter does not use that sticky paper. So, under a running tap, you can really get it clean. My only regret is having to purchase a package of four. I won’t go through that many in my life time!If you have one of these “stick” vacuumed by Bissell, you need to get this filter kit. Much, much cheaper and cleanable. (Is “cleanable” even a word?)
