Perhaps The Best Battery-Powered Vacuum On The Market!
Outstanding vacuum with all the right stuff! Over the years, most of us have tried a few brands of hand-held vacuums with mixed results. This Makita is definitely the best I’ve found.Lots of suction, light and easy to maneuver, relatively quiet, super easy to clean, and the battery lasts surprisingly long. If needed, higher capacity batteries are also available. Even the accessory kit and wall mount are terrific. This is a top quality portable vacuum that really does the job. Yes, it is a bit spendy, but definitely worth the price. It will probably be the last portable vacuum I’ll need to buy. Check it out for yourself.

Single most-used vacuum cleaner in the house
I originally bought this to clean up shredder droppings when emptying the shredder. Vacuum’s powerful suction made easy work of picking up all the fallen shreddings. Then I started using it for my car footwell carpet to get up grit, gravel, and sand with its powerful suction. My wife’s car always has tons of hair under her seat and near the seat adjustment acme screws so this vacuum does a great job of sucking that up. In the house I use it to clean the junction between the baseboard moldings and the wall and floor; it does a great job and its quick. Now my wife discovered this vacuum and I showed her how to use the battery charger to keep it topped up. It is now her go-to vacuum (as if she ever had one). She is even telling her friends about it. I bought one for my mom since it is so lightweight, powerful, and versatile. Easy to empty after every use with a twist, just tap the collection bin against the trash bin and that its it.

Powerful, light, maneuverable, and fast charging!
Wow! This vacuum is impressive! First, I am a heavy Amazon shopper and this is the first product I have felt compelled to review in quite a while. This is a superb little vacuum and I cannot recommend it enough, especially if you already own other Makita 18v tools! I was debating between this and a highly rated Dyson knock-off cordless handheld vac. Ultimately the interchangeable battery and my love of my Makita 18v LXT drill driver set won me over and the extra money was well worth it! I bought the kit in white because it is classier looking and appears less like a power tool chillinâ in your living room. The 2 amp hour battery lasts surprisingly long, about 30 min of intermittent vacuuming. You do have to keep the trigger pressed for it to run, but this saves battery life when you are doing spot cleaning. The floor attachment works so good, can lay totally flat with a slight twist, and gets into the smallest spaces imaginable, under furniture, between chair legs, and behind toilets. I have a powerful corded vac, but this is going to be my daily cleaner for sure. AND I ended up with a second charging station AND I can use my bigger 5 amp hour battery from my drill kit if I really need longer time. The Makita lithium battery system charges SO fast that it clearly out-performs other little cordless vacs with built in batteries. This battery will charge in 20-30 minutes instead of the 3-6 hours of many other options. Iâm SO glad I spent the extra on this vacuum! Makita continues to impress me with their lithium power tools!

Our main Vacuum, a great go-to workhorse, makes life much easier
Dyson cordless vacuum – $299.99. This, $79. You wouldn’t think it can get better than that…I reluctant to buy this, remembering the old Cordless Dirt Devil Broom/Vacuums that did everything poorly. The vacuum by far exceeds every expectation I could have had for it.It’s great for dog hair, kitchen crumbs, dust and debris that collects on the corners of laminate floors… It works great on fabric chairs and couches. We only use our big vacuum for the rugs and big cleaning. The makita has sent it into semi-retirement.We have a two year old. Little guy does two year old stuff, makes two year old messes; completely illogical ridiculous messes. Dinner routinely makes floor, cereal boxes left out can be accidentally emptied. We learned that if you yell, he looks sad then walks away sadly through the cereal: crunch, crunch crunch. That’s great, not only is breakfast gone, but a 500 pieces of cinnamon toast crunch becomes 2000-3000 pieces. This vacuum is hanging on an ikea hook we placed strategically between his chair and the kitchen. It has improved our quality of life more than I can explain. The big vacuum is downstairs, it’s a pain to bring up and plug in. The broom is messy. This is ready to go, cleans even his worst mess up in no time. The crevice tool is good for getting under the cabinets and along baseboards. The tools attach nicely when not in use so as not to get lost. The canister holds a job or two worth of dirt, needs to be emptied often, as would anything this size. The only downside I can find is the fact you need to constantly hold the trigger, there’s no catch to keep the vac on. Also, it doesn’t take standard attachments, which would have been nice.It takes the Makita LXT Batteries. If you have any of these tools you probably know how great the batteries are. The vacuum typically runs about a week of routine use (probably about 5-10 minutes a day 5/7 days a week). Battery charges quickly on the rapid charger (which plays tunes when the batteries are done, just figured that out). If you keep a couple extra batteries around for your other tools, you can enjoy this vacuum without interruption.

Great if you understand its strengths and its weaknesses
This is not a Dyson Stick. Let’s just start there. This is a construction hand vac that my wife purchased because she read that it was better than a Dyson stick vacuum. It isn’t. It’s very different, much simpler and for the right vacuuming tasks it’s perfect. I used it for a quick vacuum of my office, for cleaning my pellet grill out, and after a haircut and it works GREAT for that. It’s also awesome on our wood stairs. I think it would suck (no pun intended) on carpet but for hard floors, it’s great, it’s lightweight, the battery lasts forever, and it would be a good complimentary vacuum for that uber-slick Dyson you’ve been eyeing.

Good portable vacuum cleaner with strong suction. Great in tight spaces. Two types of nozzle fit in to pipe of variable length so you can clean a room with a long pipe, then detail your car with a shorter pipe. Rather messy clean-out of the filter and dirt container – do it over a trash container or outside, not in the space you have just cleaned! ON-button does not have a lock so you have to maintain finger pressure on the button which is not always easy. Battery removal and plug-in to charger is a bit clunky with the need to press upwards on one end at the same time as pulling it out, then rotating the battery to match the yellow connections. Recharging is quick- about 10 minutes or so. If you intend to clean large areas of rugs or carpets, since there is no rotating brush on the Makita, you might be better off to consider a more expensive stick vacuum cleaner such as the Hoover Lynx. But the Makita is great for small jobs – and the price is right.
