Plan on at least an hour…
Update – it’s been nearly 6 months since I replaced the battery on my iPad Air2. I have to say it’s performing great and I can go over a week sometimes before charging. It was WELL WORTH doing this and this battery is quality!————————————-If you watched a few youtube videos you may have noticed that some remove several components including the ipad motherboard before replacing the battery, and it seems like a lot of extra work. Well – it’s necessary, although I got mine replaced without pulling the lightning power plug (it was still stuck even after removing the screws…), i did remove the motherboard. You may also notice those youtubers finish in about 8-15 minutes – just remember those guys have probably replaced dozens of iPad batteries and so they got it down… you?; not so much – so plan on at least an hour.some included tools are not needed: I did not use the T4 screwdriver (not needed on iPads), the thicker guitar pick, the suction cup (although I guess I could have) or the smaller metal prying tool. I also have a set of bent-point tweezers with a very narrow tip, and found these invaluable during the operation – especially when a screw decided to stick to a battery on the shell. Some other advice:1) A hair dryer takes much more time to heat up the glass than an actually “hot gun” – but you don’t need the heat to be excruciating. I used a 1200W dryer and only messed up on heating up the battery adhesive. Be patient.2) To first break the adhesive seal, I found the flat blade of the metal prying tool is easiest. But don’t use this all the way around the glass – use the plastic guitar pics do hold open the gap – or even lead with them as you work around the parameter: Carful – the metal tool may even shave a little aluminum off the shell, and you don’t want that. Once the seal is broken broken, don’t pry to hard or you risk bending the shell or cracking the glass… take your time and move the tool along slowly.3) Re-apply heat often. It doesn’t take long for the adhesive to cool down and then it’s difficult to pry again.4) Once open, there are a BUNCH of teeny tiny screws (maybe 19 or more?) that you have to remove. My suggestion is to use a microfiber towel to hold them while you work… a bead mat is even better. I used a bright yellow towel (see pic) so the black screws are easy to notice. It’s also a nice spot to put the glass while you work on the battery… Be careful not to blow your towel away with the hair dryer!!5) Most ribbon wire plugs (like for the cameras, microphone, or even the headphone jack) simply pop out with a little upward prying, and go back on with a little downward pressure, but the speaker plugs are unique – the wires pull out from the side after a small lever on the plug is moved upright. I took a pic with the two speaker wires – the one of the left has the lever up. On the right the lever is down. Be extremely gentle here, and save the piece of tape which covers these plugs so you can put it back; I have a strong suspicion that the tape keeps the levers down!6) My only complaint with the kit is I would have liked a wide flat-blade plastic spudger (prying tool) tool for getting under the old battery. The metal spudger is too sharp and I ended up tearing the plastic housing of my old battery (see pic). If this happens to you – all is not lost; but be extremely careful with the battery after that; the metal pry tool may cause a short-circuit!7) You’ll notice that the battery contacts have to fit over the screw-hole in the bottom shell (which is actually like a small post -I took a pic of this too). This is why you need to remove the motherboard; you can’t remove the old battery until you can lift the contacts up over this post. . When you put the new battery in, start with the position of the contacts, as this is the most important part. Everything else will line up.8) Before you re-attach the top (the glass and touch panel), which has 3 ribbon wire plugs, be sure to clean out all the black adhesive from the shell (see pic of me pulling a black strip off). The kit comes with adhesive that is custom shaped to fit, but if you put it on top of the old adhesive it will be too thick and the glass won’t settle in nice and neat.9) When you are ready to apply the adhesive from the kit. You’ll probably peel it off wrong the first time – You need to peel up the black adhesive and leave the tan-colored back-side cover in-tact until you’re ready to seal it all up again. Don’t remove the tan-side until you’ve done a power-on test, and tested all functionality: Wifi, Camera, Selfie Camera, touchpad, speakers, volume buttons, even the headphone jack. If that all works then, Doctor: you’re ready to close! :)Hope this helps, and good luck!

    Everything inclueded.
The battery of my old ipad is dead and it does not worth anything when I try to trade in for new one.So I decided to replace it by myself and if I success, I can give it to my kids, if I fail, it is ok too.Checked the tutorial online and they recommend this because this comes with everything you need to replace your ipad battery. The hardest part is to remove the screen of my ipad, luckily this comes all the tools and I was able to remove it and replace with new battery. Not bad at all.

    A complete failure.
Some say it’s an easy fix. It is not. I have to assume that there is nothing wrong with the product. They do not provide instructions and give you no explanation for what some of the tools are for. So I just picked a video and went for it. The Apple adhesive has an insanely strong bond. I used a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive but still ruined the screen trying to remove it. It didn’t break but shows wavy lines in the screen, I’m guessing from too much flex during removal. I hope you have better luck with it.

    Defective out of the box.
Installation was relatively easy after watching some videos. I figure the battery would be good since it was brand new. I put it in and nothing happend, the ipad did not turned on. I checked the connections again and left it to charge overnight. It did not charge. I took it out the battery and checked the voltage. The voltage in the new battery is actually worse than the original battery. All that time for nothing.

Battery is good, and the tools included are very useful. Still, it’s an adventure!
The battery has a good life, so my ipad is good as new! The spudger and other supplied tools were good for the job, so it just took some time heating the ipad, squirting some alcohol around the seams, and working the glass (carefully!) away from the case. It’s not a job for the faint of heart, nor one for the impatient. I hope I don’t have to do it again, but I would recommend this seller.

    Works great!
Removing the old, swollen battery was obnoxious and hazardous. However, installing this one was simple.I’ve been using it for a month and a half now and it lasts for several hours of screen time before needing to be recharged, just like a brand-new iPad.I charged it completely before initial use and only recharge when it’s below 10%.I didn’t need any of the tools since I already had the iPad apart, but I picked this one out in case I needed the adhesive. I didn’t end up needing it, but all the pieces were all there.

    Battery Only Lasted 9 Months
I’m fairly adept at electronic repairs, so undertaking this one was well within my skill set. I watched several different videos first, and found I could use a heating pad without its cover as my heat source to warm/soften the glue for screen removal. I really liked that the necessary tools were supplied with the battery. After replacement, the tablet initially worked well, but after a few months the battery life began to fail. When left idle/hibernating, the battery strength seems to drain, to the point where for the past month it would be completely drained in just a few days. Today it is completely dead, and doesn’t even recognize a charger being connected. The price was reasonable, but I wish it had lasted longer than 9 months.

Everything included, found instructions online, took it slow, used head mounted magnifying glasses and light for the smallest bits and voila! iPad battery lasts as it should, excellent!

This battery pack is OK but not brilliant as the charge soon runs down and frankly is not a lot better than the old original iPad ones it replaced. You may also like to note that it is very fiddly to fit – much more so than the equivalent one for a Kindle. I resorted to asking my brother to do the job as electronics is his work and even he found it no easy task. I think I shall have to resort to buying a new iPad after all!
